Tin soldiers and Nixon coming,We're finally on our own. This summer I hear the drumming,Four dead in Ohio.Gotta get down to itSoldiers are cutting us downShould have been done long ago. What if you knew herAnd found her dead on the groundHow can you run when you know?

Gotta get down to itSoldiers are cutting us downShould have been done long ago. What if you knew herAnd found her dead on the groundHow can you run when you know?

Tin soldiers and Nixon coming,We're finally on our own. This summer I hear the drumming,Four dead in Ohio

This song is talking about the time period of the Vietnam War, and how 4 students attending Kent University in Ohio were shot and killed for expressing their freedom of speech, by protesting against the War. This massacre was on May 4, 1970. Soldiers were given order to stop the protesting by the president during the time, Nixon. As the shooting began it was as if everyone was on their own. Once the shooting had finished there was a female on the ground holding her dead friend, moping. I believe that this song is asking how could you do that, watch innocent students get killed for expressing their beliefs.

His genre of music was folk and rock. He is still alive today.

Richard Nixon was born on January 9, 1913 in Yorba Linda, California. He became President on January 21, 1973. Nixon was President during the Vietnam War, and there were a lot of tensions with all of the politics. He was elected in 1969 as the 37th President of the United States. He was responsible for the Kent State Massacre, because it was from his orders in which the soldiers killed the students. He was the first President to resign his post, on August 9, 1974. He was President for nineteen months.

Tin Soldiers are plastic toys that kids play with.

This reference was made, because kids always have control in what the little soldiers do, but in this case President Nixon was controlling the soldiers
