A Message of Life

“Is there life after youth?” We no longer feel

we celebrate the myth of eternal youth. We like to avoid all signs that speak to us of death and fragility of human existence.

like success! Our new faith is in Progress that promises us more and new products in an unlimited way. We believe that we can expand our creativity to eliminate all shortcomings and limits that nature has imposed on us. Even

limited nature so that our freedom and creativity can go beyond it: transhumanism! The words of the Tempter in the Garden of Eden have become true; “you will be like God!”

I’m wondering if the words of today’s gospel are not addressed to all of us, who are victims of this modern illusion! Through the images of the end of the world, Jesus is reminding us of the limits that mark the reality of the world and our life. We will always remain fragile creatures in the instability of this passing world. The myth of eternal youth will always be a beautiful dream: too beautiful to be true!

On the other hand, we must face our mortality without fear. It is only the experience of aging that leads us to our true destiny. Everything came from God so that everything may go back to Him. This is the consoling vision of our faith. When we recognize and accept our limits we already overcome them. The fig tree teaches us.

BAUTIZOS DE NOVIEMBRE 2018 Charla (Obligatoria): Jueves 15 de noviembre de 7:30 a 8:30pm en el Salón No.4 Celebración del Bautismo: Sábados 17 y 24 de noviembre en la Misa de las 6:00pm Domingo 18 de noviembre en la Misa de la 1:00pm Requisitos: *Copia del certificado de nacimiento del niño/a. *Estar registrado en la parroquia por lo menos 3 meses antes del Bautismo. *Los padrinos deben cumplir con los requisitos de la Iglesia. *Para más información llamar a la oficina. (Los requisitos de los padrinos/madrinas se darán por escrito el día de las inscripciones.)

Misa de Acción de Gracias

Habrá una Misa trilingüe el 22 de noviembre a las 11:00am. El día de acción de gracias es una oportunidad para agradecer recordando a los más necesitados. Como todos los años queremos recolectar tarjetas, para comida para que podamos otorgarlas a quienes lo necesitan. Colocaremos una canasta delante del altar donde puedan depositar sus donaciones.

En la entrada principal de la Iglesias habrá dos mesas con

trozos de papel para escribir sus peticiones/agradecimientos. Se colocarán en la canasta que se

ofrecerá en la procesión de ofrendas.

El retiro de Adviento en inglés será el 8 de diciembre de 9am a

4pm en el salón parroquial. Traiga su propio almuerzo. El predicador será el diacono Anthony Astrab.
