From Jaydene Johnson – President CCWTE 2014

One of the blessings that God gives to me is on KLOVE Christian Radio. They have a small segment where they ask: In 10 seconds say what you are thankful for or a blessing. When I listen to callers’ responses I ponder what blessings I have in my life. So with pen and paper in hand, as quickly as I could, I wrote down the things that first came to mind:

My Risen Lord – Salvation

Prayer – the ability to take everything to God in Prayer

Doug – my spouse – we just celebrated 40 years of marriage

Granddaughters; my children and their spouses; my extended family

My close friends

My Job – even when I struggle with the pressures or procedures

Health

Yard – and the ability to work in it

Freedom to choose

The beach – my place to relax, refresh, and renew

My church and pastors

And YOU my Emmaus family In the last few weeks of my mom’s life, she reminded me to be grateful for the small things. When I focus on that conversation I remember her saying: “Be grateful that you can go to the grocery store, get up to brush your teeth and wash your hair, that you have the ability to drive your children here and there, and you have the choice to be happy or sad because your life is busy. Don’t ever take those things for granted.” At our last board meeting I challenged the board to each tell the group of one blessing, in 10 seconds. The responses were wonderful, and we prayed for each other. Now, what are you thankful for or what is your blessing? Are you making a choice to be happy today? “Let us give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for us.” Psalm 107:15 Resting in Him, Jaydene Johnson

Dear Emmaus Family:

CALLING ALL SONGBOOKS! If you happen to have an Emmaus Songbook, old or new,

hiding out at your house in all your Emmaus stuff, WE NEED IT BACK!!!

We are reprinting our song books and adding some new songs, but we need to re-use the existing front and back covers. This plea includes yellow books, blue books, and lavender books. Please

return all books no later than the end of the summer walks, so we can have the new books ready to use for the Fall Walks.

Dear Emmaus Family

The Board of Directors would like to encourage you as Sponsors to remember to bring your pilgrims to the first gathering after their walk, as well as to the first work night. For many of us, that was a time of fun and connecting to the Emmaus Community after our Walks and that led us into sponsoring and sharing the gift of Emmaus. It is also wise as we continue to grow, to remember the next time that you work, to invite your pilgrim to come along. We are offering the sponsorship talk now at work weekends, on walk workdays, and soon we want to have it available also on line. There is a “best way” to be a sponsor and we all want to facilitate that way.

When you are a Table Leader or Silent Table Leader, invite your table pilgrims to work with you the next time you work. This allows them to connect to someone other than their sponsor(s) and makes the entry into working a Walk and sharing the gift of this ministry so much more comfortable. In this world of hurry and multiple priorities, we want to continue to develop a large pool of workers and sponsors for the health and well-being of our community. This is one of the ways that that can happen!

– Your Board of Directors

GUIDELINES

One of the magical things about Emmaus is that

everyone is on the same level. Yes, you may serve once as LD, but then you go back to working on teams – and no team position is any greater or less than another.

Sending in Work Requests early is very important. However, please keep in mind that being

qualified and sending in a Work Request does not guarantee you a spot on any team. Each position

is prayerfully considered.

These guidelines are repeated in every newsletter as a reminder for those who may have forgotten

and for those who are new to the Community.

1. You must serve

several times on the live-in action teams (Kitchen & Agape), to ensure that you understand the entire scope of each job.

2. This makes you

qualified to serve as a Silent Table Leader in the Talk Room or as Sound Tech

The position of Sound Tech requires special training

and those individuals are considered members of the

Song Team while on a Walk. This position is also

considered equal with that of Silent Table Leader and

thus qualifies those who serve as Sound Tech to be

available to serve as a speaker or Cha-Cha.

3. This makes you

qualified to be a Designated Table Leader/Speaker or a Cha-Cha

Table leader assignments are

made with care and are given to

those who have proven the ability

to lead a group, understand

Emmaus, listen, empathize, guide

discussion and foster the

development of the table family.

4. This makes

you qualified to serve as a Core Team Boss for a live-in action team or for the Love Team

It is very, very important that prior to

being selected to serve as a boss, you have

had enough experience working in the

background to ensure that you

understand the entire scope of the job.

5. To be an

Assistant Lay Director you should have progressed through steps 1-3 and have given at least one Talk

6. To be qualified as a Lay

Director candidate you must have

progressed through steps 1-4,

given 2 Talks, & served as a Cha-

Cha or Assistant LD
