Assam: This Gammon India, Rail-cum-road double-decker bridge

project is being constructed over river Brahmaputra wherein the piers

are being built on the river where the super-structure deck shall be

placed later. The is the fourth bridge over river Brahmaputra and the

first one in upper Assam, connecting Dibrugarh city in the south bank

alongwith Dhemaji and Pasighat towns in the north bank. Schwing

Stetter India equipment in use at this project are thirty numbers of

AM6SHN2 concrete mixers, four numbers of CP 30 batching plant,

eighteen numbers of SP1800 concrete pump and four numbers of BP

350DXT concrete pump with concrete grades of M20, M25 and M35. 3Total concrete poured and produced in this project is 375,000 m .

Modus Operandi:

3Two 6 m capacity concrete mixers & one concrete pump are

mounted on one barge. Both the mixers are loaded when they're

berthed in the south bank near a CP 30 batching plant. Then the

barge moves to the mid position of the river where concrete is

required to be poured. During this journey, both the mixers are

rotating its drums to keep the concrete agitated to be poured out.

Once the barge reaches the pouring point, then it is anchored and

then the pump is started. Concrete from the mixers are poured

into the pump hopper one after another. One delivery pipeline is

fixed from the output side of the pump which takes concrete upto

a height and then it is allowed to flow down towards the end of

the barge in an inclined path. A local delivery chute is fabricated at

the pipeline end to guide the concrete to the pouring point just

outside the barge.

Year 2016 has definitely ended with a good note, bringing in cheer to the construction equipment manufacturers. Overall, the construction

equipment industry has grown by 25% compared to the same period last year. Schwing Stetter India is not an exception to this.

We could also see similar enthusiasm among the construction companies during the Bauma Conexpo

India fair which was held at the Huda grounds, Gurgaon, NCR. During the Bauma Conexpo India fair,

we also unveiled a host of earthmoving and material handling equipment from XCMG product profile.

Currently, we are working very closely with XCMG with a view to introduce XCMG products into the

Indian market.

The next set of opportunities which are expected to knock the doors of construction equipment

manufacturers are on the North Eastern Region and the rural development side.

The ConMac exhibition of construction machinery and construction technology, to be conducted by

CII during the first week of March 2017 will give us some lead on the developmental activities in this

area.

I will report my findings on this development in my next interaction with you. Till then, wish you all a

Notable Projects

DLF Crest

Gurugram: This residential and commercial project is being

constructed by Larsen and Toubro. It consists of 6 towers with a total

height of the building at 130 metres. The floor height is at 32 metres

with 10 metres for the podium. Towers A,B,C consists of 38 floors

while C,D,E towers consists of 28 floors. Total concrete poured and 3produced is around 176,910 m . Concrete grades are M20 to M60 for

this project.

Mumbai: This 300 meter vertical hotel project is being constructed

by Capacite Infra projects. Concrete grades used are M40, M70, M80.

Schwing Stetter equipment in use at this project are listed below:

Kalachauki: This 250 m vertical residential apartment project is

being constructed by Jain engineers in Mumbai. It comprises of twin

towers and a 600-feet high observatory lounge. Concrete grades

used are M30, M40, M50, M60 and M70. Schwing Stetter India

equipment in use at this project are SP 2509 concrete pump, BP 1800

concrete pump and four numbers of AM6SHN2 Concrete mixers. Total 3concrete poured in this project is 17,600m .

Chennai: Sunshine Infra is currently constructing a flyover from

Medavakkam to Keelkattalai after the construction of a road

upgradation project from Sriperumbudur to SP Koil. Concrete grades

used are M15, M20, M25, M30, M35. Total concrete poured and 3produced in this project is 75,000 m .

Railway Tunnel

Mizoram:This project is to build tunnels for a new railway line which

is to connect Mizoram state with rail network by laying rail tracks from

the nearest railhead at Bairabi in South Assam upto a village nearest

to the state capital Aizawl. Tunnels of 2860 mtrs long are being

constructed by Nayak Infrastructure limited using Schwing Stetter

India equipment of top shot runner TSR 30.14 of two numbers, CP 30

batching plant of three numbers, CP 18 batching plant of one number

and thirteen numbers of AM6SHN concrete mixers. Concrete grades

used are M20, M25, M30. Total concrete poured and produced so far 3is around 47,500 m . Mundra (Kutch): This Adani port SEZ project of material

transportation jetty and the foundation of super structure are

constructed by ITD Cementation India Limited using concrete grades

of M15, M20, M30, M35, M40, M45, M50. Total concrete poured and 3 3produced is around 100000 m out of which 20000 m has been

poured. Concreting achievement in this project is that the highest 3concrete produced in a day (24 hrs) is 600 m alongwith continuous

pumping of 48 hours using M40 grade of concrete. Schwing Stetter

India equipment in use at this project are listed below:

Bihar:This river Ganga ghat bank development project is being

constructed by L&T using SSI equipment from Kamal builders.

Concrete grades used are M30 and M35. Total concrete to be poured 3 3and produced is around 70,000 m out of which 40,000m has been

poured so far .

Jodhpur: This road project at Mandor to Nagaur is being constructed

by Bhimji Velji Sorathia construction Pvt.Ltd. Concrete grades used in

this project are M15 to M50. Total concrete to be poured and 3 3produced are 115,000m wherein 85000m of concrete has been

SCHWING Stetter India launches 12 new products

SCHWING Stetter India (SSI), has launched new products and technology innovations during Bauma Conexpo India 2016 that took place in Gurgaon between December 12th – 15th, 2016.

We showcased a Heavy duty stationary pump SP 4507 for the first time. SP 4507 is a new development for the present trend of high rise pumping requirement especially in growing real estate markets like India and abroad. This will cater to high rise segment where the present challenges of pumping the mix with stiff consistencies at a faster rate to around 300m vertical.

Other features1. The pump develops 203 bar pressure on concrete and delivers an

3output of 54 m /hr in high pressure configuration.

2. The pump kit and rock valve of the SP 4507 each have their own hydraulic circuit. It helps to handle high grade mix. The full power of the pump kit will be available - regardless of the switching movements of the rock. This ensures a quiet pump behaviour, high pumping capacity and protection of the components with less vibration resulting in less wear and tear.

3. The new generation 'rock' comes with high efficient energy transfer on the concrete.

4. New operator interface and emergency pressure release system will ensure safe operating environment.

Shotcreting Made Easy

Horizontal Directional Drilling machineHorizontal Directional Drilling rig machine will be introduced in

Baumaconexpo India 2016 at Gurugram. Directional drilling is the art

and science involving the intentional deflection of a wellbore in a

specific direction in order to reach a predetermined objective below

the surface of the earth.HDD is a trenchless construction technique,

using guided drilling for creating an arc profile. This technique is used

for long-distance drilling such as in lagoons, under rivers, or highly-

urbanized areas.The process involves three main stages:

1.drilling a pilot hole

2.enlargement of the pilot hole

3.pullback installation of the carrier pipe

Horizontal Directional Drilling is becoming a preferred practice for

installing pipelines, cables, water and sewer lines, horizontal wells for

contaminated site remediationand for drinking water supply, and

other infrastructural elements. The main advantage is the

combination of speed and reliability with minimal environmental

impact in installation.

used in case of a small pipe where project costs can be controlled.

Our training simulator offered opportunity to the operators to move

onto virtual experience and simulation to train them in safety and

operation of concrete boom pumps. This will be a one step forward

compared to the current learning with the graphics. This is in tandem

with Skill India initiative.

SalesForce Tower gets a start in San Francisco

In a marathon pour, the foundation for SalesForce Tower in downtown San Francisco was pumped with seven Schwing boom pumps and more than 1400 loads of concrete. The majority of the concrete was pumped in 12-hours by Conco, Concord, California, which also acted as the concrete contractor on the project. The 1,070-foot tower that will rise from the 12,000 cubic yard monolith will be the tallest occupied office building west of Chicago. While the culmination of the project will occur in 2018 when the tower is completed, the planning goes back nearly a decade.

All seven Schwing CONCO booms can be seen discharging concrete early in the pour that began at 12:00 a.m. on a Sunday morning. Conco chose 4 Schwing S 58 SX and

three S 47 SX concrete pumps for the marathon pour.

Schwing’s exclusive Super X curved, telescoping front outriggers allowed seven of the long booms to fit on two sides of the excavation.

Six million pounds of rebar up to 2.25-inch diameter created a 14-foot mat to reinforce the concrete monolith.

After twelve hours of continuous pumping Conco pulled four of their Schwing long booms and the remaining three pumps finished the 12,000 cubic yard pour.

Located in downtown San Francisco, the SalesForce Tower will rise to 1,070-feet to make it the tallest occupied building west of Chicago.

Six million pounds of rebar up to 2.25-inch diameter created a 14-foot mat to reinforce the concrete monolith.

Conco chose seven Schwing boom pumps from their fleet – three S 58 SX and four S 47 SX models. All the pumps are equipped with 2525H-6 120/85 MPS pumpkits with output to 216 cubic yards per hour. Standard on these models is the Big Rock sequencing valve with extended hopper to easily manage the constant flow of ready-mix. Important to the operation is the pump's large diameter 10 inch pumping cylinders that operate through a 98-inch stroke. The slow stroking action keeps the boom stable even at maximum output which allowed the hosemen to manage the pour safely in tight quarters surrounded by finishers.

The foundation rests on 42 deep piles that extend 265-feet down to bedrock. Prior to the epic pour, more than six-million pounds of steel were woven into a 14-foot thick reinforcement that includes 2.25 inch diameter #18 rebar. Planning for the pour was started a year ahead to coordinate two ready-mix suppliers and the Conco pumps which were set-up in a challenging urban environment. More than 1400 loads of concrete were required and routes were established to keep two mixers at every concrete pump for at least 12 hours. A 950 yard per hour goal was established for the crew of finishers and pump operators. Normal maintenance was applied to the long booms that would shoulder the continuous pumping.

With boom reach measuring 139 feet seven inches for the S 47 SX units and 175 feet two inches for the S 58 SX, the pumps were able to be placed on just two sides of the square block excavation. The Overhead Roll and Fold design of the 4-section booms allowed operators to fully extend to the middle of the pour area and place concrete back to the edge. Also contributing to the efficient placement were the curved telescopic Super X front outriggers on all the pumps that allow set-up in confined areas. At 12:00 am, Sunday morning, the ready-mix began arriving in Cemex and Central Concrete mixer trucks. Seventy-six mixer trucks were utilized to rapidly discharge their loads and make room for waiting trucks to maintain constant pumping. A washout area near the downtown site, manned by several workers, kept truck drivers in their cabs. The early morning weekend hours were necessary to keep the trucks moving and minimize the impact on downtown San Francisco. Two major thoroughfares were closed to normal traffic during the pour. By noon, the majority of the concrete was in place and Conco was able to pull four pumps from the area. The concrete was pumped without any issues resulting in the largest continuous concrete pour in San Francisco's history. The three remaining trucks finished the pour by six p.m. The SalesForce tower was a repeat performance as Conco participated in two of the largest pours in California’s history. In April 2014, the company placed 21,200 cubic yards for a foundation that will support the Wilshire Grand, a 1,000 foot highrise being constructed in Los Angeles. Together, the two skyscrapers will not only be the tallest structures in their respective cities, but also the two tallest buildings west of the Mississippi River.

Prague: Mr.Anand Sundaresan was part of this year's CECE congress held in Czech Republic on 7th October, 2016. The main theme was 'Industry in Transformation - Drivers of Success'. This two day programme gathered close to 200 leaders from the construction industry.

Builders Association of India celebrated its 75th year since its inception at Chennai Trade Centre, Nandiambakkam. It was a grand event bringing together its members and member companies throughout India. Schwing Stetter India was represented by Mr. Sudhakar.P, General Manager, Marketing on behalf of Mr. V. G. Sakthikumar, Managing Director, Schwing Stetter Sales and Services Private Limited, Chairman of Mechanization committee, Builders Association of India through a presentation on Modern concreting equipment and technologies.

The presentation covered major topics on concreting equipment specially designed for different needs of batching, pumping, shotcreting, mixing, transporting and recycling of concrete.

Mumbai : Smartec Sludge Pump System was launched at IFAT 2016, India’s leading trade fair for water, sewage, refuse and recycling. This product will be used to recycle sewage and sludge water for municipal applications.

Ranchi & Lucknow : Branch offices were inaugurated recently in the month of November, 2016 to support customers for sales, services and spares availability.

Nandiambakkam: The first ever conference on Industrial flooring in South India organized by CII, Southern region took place between 26th - 28th September, 2016 at Chennai Trade Centre wherein Mr. Anand Sundaresan, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, presented several case studies of different flooring types in various industries and their performance over the years when subjected to daily movement of trucks, trailers and heavy duty equipment. He gave a realistic view supported by images of floorings that have survived over the years and of others that were damaged earlier than expected. He also suggested correct methods for surface preparation

based on soil condition, excavation, f i l l ing, composting, drainage, strengthening and curing of concrete.

Gurgaon: Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association (ICEMA) conducted a conference during BC India event on the theme,“Infra Redux – New and Sustainable Horizons” wherein Mr. Anand Sundaresan, President panelled various topics on reviving infrastructure - new paradigms, rural infra - bringing Bharat closer to India and holistic equipment solutions - current need of the hour for infra growth.
