Newton’s 2nd Law
Newton’s 2nd Law – Acceleration of an object increases when you increase force & decreases when you increase mass.

Equations of Inertia Distance/time=speed Final velocity – initial
velocity/time=acceleration Acceleration x mass=force

Objective
The objective of this experiment is find how the force and acceleration of an object change when you increase and decrease the mass.

Materials
1 milk jug Water Scale Stopwatch 1 volunteer Meter stick
![Page 7: Newton's 2nd law[con21]](https://reader036.vdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022082700/54b5ac4d4a7959cc2c8b4614/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
Procedure Measure and mark 5 meters on the floor Weigh the empty milk jug Push the empty jug first, and start the time
when you push it and stop the time when it crosses the 5 meter mark.
Find the velocity of the milk jug (distance/time)
Find its acceleration (final velocity - initial velocity/time)
Find its force (acceleration x mass) Repeat steps 2-6 with the jug filled with
water Compare the differences in force and
acceleration of the two jugs

Conclusion
In this experiment we found that when you change the mass, both the force and acceleration of an object are changed. A change in any one of these factors can change the outcome.
