The third week in P’rachim and Kochavim was so exciting! With Teacher Michelle we danced our way to a wonderful turtle and crab dance. Dancing with scarves and singing "let it go" was one of our favorite moments. We made delicious pretzel treats with Morah Shari. We molded the dough into shapes and covered it with egg and salt. So yummy! With Morah Debbie we got to use some sticky things to create fish and underwater art. We loved sticking blue foam to make underwater images! Thursday was a super fun day with a puppet show. We watched the story of the three little pigs. Laughing along with the three silly pigs and the big wolf was tons of fun. At the end of the week, it was so nice to sing along with Yoni at our Shabbat party. We can't wait to have lots of fun next week!

Wow, Week 3 was a blast here at Camp MDS! Our theme this week was the deep blue sea! We enjoyed baking salty soft pretzels to remind us of the salty water in the ocean. We also created our very own blue jello aquariums with de-licious candy fish and seaweed. Yum, Yum!

During Science we continued our water theme by conducting a floating experiment. We each had different objects and had to guess if it would sink or float... Most of our ob-jects floated!! We even found out that an orange with the peel still on floats, but a peeled orange sinks!

What’s an ocean without fish! In Art we created fish portraits! We used different combs and sponges to create the deep blue sea background, and used stickers and rain-bow crayons to decorate our fish! We can’t wait to hang our fish on the refrigerator!

On Thursday, we enjoyed a spectacular puppet show! Mr. Chad reenacted the story of “The Three Little Pigs”. We were so happy that the three little pigs escaped from the Big Bad Wolf! We can’t wait to see what’s in store for next week….

Week number three just flew on by,

Camp couldn’t get more fun even if we try

In gym we played baseball and practiced throwing the ball,

We learned to be a “sport” and to get back up even if we fall.

In baking we made pretzels that were a salty treat,

Twisting our pretzels into shape was so very neat!

In art we decorated fish with sequins and more,

We finger painted the water and used sensory objects galore.

In Kinderdance we learned to salute and somersault on the mat,

We did an obstacle course and log roll and pranced like a cat.

Super soccer stars was filled with soccer ball kicking fun,

We scored some goals and victory danced until our time was done!

Swimjim has been great we’ve been learning new things,

We’re floating on our backs without the barbell wings.

In science we discussed things that can sink or float,

We experimented with fruit and more and even a small boat.

The aquarium was fantastic we saw so many cool things,

Like sea lions doings gymnastics and penguins with big wings.

We’ll see you on Monday for week number four,

We’re ready for a blast and for what’s in store!

Love,

Morah Shira and Morah Jessie

Tziporim Here at camp MDS we are done with week three.

This week was all about under the sea.

In art we made fish with sparkles and jewels.

We painted a blue water background with lots of different patterning tools.

In baking we made blue jello complete with gummy fish, and sour stick seaweed.

It was so delicious, 100% Tziporim guaranteed!

On Thursday we went to the New York Aquarium, we saw penguins, otters, wal-

ruses, and an iguana.

And let's not forget the sea lions, anemone fish and the red-bellied piranha.

In science we learned about yeast and how it is alive.

Just like you and me it breaths air to survive.

You get a cool reaction when you mix yeast with hydrogen

peroxide.

It explodes from the bottle and continuously drips down from

the side.

It creates lots of foamy bubbles or elephant toothpaste.

This toothpaste was just for touching and not for us to taste.

In gym we learned the correct stance for catching a ball.

You have to hold you hands out and stand up nice and tall.

This stance makes your body nice and steady.

It also tells the thrower that you are ready.

We would like to officially welcome Morah Allie and

Natan to our group, we are so excited that you are

here.

A big goodbye to Ezra, we will miss you and hope to

see you next year.

Please get some rest and gear up for week number

four.

With lots of activities planned it will not be a bore.

Shabbat Shalom!

Malkot

We began the week with pictures and big smiles to show. Kinder dance was so

much fun with teacher Michelle. The Malkot danced through our own obstacle

course while listening to their favorite songs.

In art we anticipated out aquarium trip by designing beautiful fish with Morah

Debbie. The Malkot then drew a sea for their fish to swim in.

In science we experimented with sink or float. We then made our very own

boats out of play dough and discovered what a boat needs in order to set sail.

The aquarium brought the weeks activities full circle. We saw a great big wal-

rus, all sorts of fish in all different colors, and even beautiful coral. The most fun

was had during the sea lion show where we met sea lions Duke, Oz, and Die-

go. They did such cool tricks! The Malkot had a great trip day at the aquarium.

We can't wait for more fun to come next week in camp!

Shabbat Shalom,

Morah Sarah and Morah Molly

Dear Giborim Parents,

Week three brought a lot of fun filled fish activities! In art we decorated beautiful cutout

fish with foam mosaic tiles. We then created a sea for our fish to live in by using different

types of paint brushes and blue paint. Some of our paint brushes created a bubble affect

while others made waves. In baking we made yummy edible fish bowls. We used blue Jello

to represent the water and put gummy fish and dolphins inside of the Jello. We also added

green sour sticks to our fish bowls to look like seaweed. Since we were talking about water

all week, we experimented with sinking and floating in science. Each child picked objects

from the classroom and predicted whether these objects would sink or float in water. They

then tested each of their predictions. They also made boats out of different materials, such

as clay and tinfoil, and tested which boats could float the best.

On Thursday we went on a trip to the NY Aquarium in Coney Island. At the aquarium we saw

many beautiful fish of all different colors and sizes. We also saw a giant walrus; it was huge!

The Giborim got to see a cool 4D Spongebob video, where we learned about different sea

creatures. The highlight of our trip was the sea lion show. The trainers and sea lions per-

formed many different tricks for us; it was so cool! The sea lions balanced balls, high fived

the trainers, danced, and even clapped. We all thought it was funny when one sea lion re-

fused to do any tricks. We learned an important lesson from this; we can't make animals do

something that they don't want to do.

Looking forward to next week's adventures!

Shabbat shalom,

Morah Rena and Matin

Giborim

There are many exciting activities happening at camp every week . Our

counselors take pictures of the children having fun and keeping busy

throughout the day. While we can’t include all pictures in the Newsletter,

the pictures are uploaded every week to Dropbox, a private photo-

sharing website. (These pictures cannot be accessed without a direct

link.) Links to the photos are below - click the link to your child’s bunk to

see their pictures. More pictures will be added on an ongoing basis but

the link will stay the same, so you can save it for future viewing. We hope

you enjoy!
