STRINGS

The hardest thing for musicians is not having anyone to hear the results of all their practice so at this difficult

time, the Victor Harbor R-7 String Ensemble decided to go in search of an audience. The first stop was the foyer

of the Middle School Building, followed by the front office and ending with an outdoor performance to a passing

class. The string players had a great time and from the reactions of the audiences, they did too.

Well done to Sophie N, Melody, Jai, Angus, Oliver, Noah, Felix, Sophie P, Danika and Finlay.

Judy Fletcher, Teacher.

We have some items that we will be clearing. These include, winter and summer rugby tops with old logo, jazz pants for girls, all $10.00 and zip up Bomber Jackets from size 12 for $15.00. Please note, these items are only available with the sizes in stock and not for ordering. The old uniform shop will be open 1 day only, Thursday, 20th August from 8.30am to 9.00am. If you are interested in any of these items please come along and have a look. Eftpos and cash accepted. There will also be a limited stock of second-hand items available for a gold coin donation (cash only).

SCIENCE

The Year 6 & 7 students have been studying chemistry. This topic is based on solutions, separations, and reactions. One class has performed an experiment in which they classified mixtures as solutions, colloids, or suspensions. They needed to make accurate observations and draw conclusions from them. They will now go onto experiments which they will design to compare the solubility of different substances, and another self-planned experiment in which they will compare the reactivity of different strengths of vinegar (acetic acid). The planning phase will introduce them to the 'scientific method' which underlies how science operates in the real world. Mr. Smee
