NATURE PLAY

Our students would like to thank Proarbor Tree Strategies for donating lots of tree branches for our Nature Play area. Branch delivery day is always a flurry of activity and happy faces.

ATTENDANCE IN CLASS

Research shows that regular attendance at school is vital to set children up for success. Sadly, our teachers rarely report that they have 100% attendance of their class on any given day. Students that are absent or late to school often miss learning opportunities and have to catch up on what they missed. Help us to meet our attendance target of 95% by coming to school everyday unless you are ill (if you are away for three days please provide a sick certificate) or have an important reason for being absent. Remember you can speak with our Student Wellbeing Coordinators if you have issues you would like to discuss. Congratulations to E05 for meeting the target! I wonder if any other classes can reach the target by the end of the term? Ever wondered what attendance looks like across our classes? Here are our attendance percentages for Term 2.

Kind regards,

As part of our Health unit this year, D06 and D07 have

been learning about road safety and ways to keep safe

in our community. In Term 2 we were lucky to have a

visit from one of our parents, Police officer Collin

Griffiths, and in Week 9 we attended the Road and

Safety Cycle Centre. Whilst we did need to brave the

rain, the students had a wonderful time riding bikes

and learning about the potential dangers on our roads.

“I really liked riding around the tracks where there

were traffic lights and stop signs. It was fun because it

was just like in real life, but without the cars.”

“We really enjoyed playing in the park as part of our

excursion, and learnt a lot about keeping safe on the

roads”

“My favourite part about having Collin visit, was when

we got to see his police car”.

Is your child excited about our Book Fair? It’s a fun pop-up bookshop event where students can explore and choose the books they want to read. When students have books they are excited to read, they naturally read more. Scholastic Book Clubs and Book Fairs work together to instil a love of reading, and keep the reading momentum rolling all year round.

Your child brought home a Book Fair invitation last week that showcased a selection of books that are on offer at the Fair. All classes have now visited the Multi-Purpose Room where the entire range of books, kits, posters and novelty stationery items are available for sale. Prices range from just $1 for pencils and erasers and some books are discounted to as low as $4. Families are welcome to come and have a look each morning and afternoon between 8:30 – 10:00am and 2:30 – 4:00pm. If you are unable to visit but would like to purchase any items that your child put on their Wish List, you can follow the instructions on the back of the form to pay online or send cash with your child. Children who bring payment will be called to the Book Fair first thing each morning. We thank you for your support of this great fundraiser. Your contribution will benefit the library and of course, the children who are excited about reading their new books!
