This November 1994 example is a rare facelift model E500 W124 endowed with a 5.0 litre V8 48
Valve engine producing 322 bhp & 480 N·m (354 lb·ft) of torque. A car developed & built jointly
between Mercedes Benz & Porsche to beat BMW's hand-built E34 M5, the E500's build quality
was the pinnacle of Mercedes Benz quality. Whilst other models of the W124 were built in 3 days,
the E500 took 18 days each to build, with the shell being built & painted first, then taken to
Porsche for fitting of mechanicals, then back to Mercedes and back to Porsche throughout the
build. Each was hand-assembled, so although the E500 resembles it's less endowed siblings, it's
got hundreds of discreet differences in how it's built to offer better performance & luxury
combined.The result was a very capable car to drive even today. For most applications driving
something like this is like taking a Kalashnikov to a knife fight, hidden in discreet gentlemanly
attire. Only 1,855 facelift examples of the E500 were hand-built from 1994 - 1995 and these
carried not only bonnet, grille, headlight trunk & complete bumper & lower plastic trim differences,
but more importantly - larger brakes at each corner, courtesy of components borrowed from the
R129 600SL (V12 model). The 500E & facelift E500 W124's were only produced in LHD for all
markets including the UK (Where less than 150 pre-facelift examples were supplied by Mercedes
Benz - UK).
In it's day & even today the Motoring Press shows lavish praise and recommendation for what has
become possibly the most iconic & best Q car ever produced. April 92' issue of Automobile
Magazine, "Like a Drug":"It is important that prospective 500E drivers have impeccable credentials
as adults. This car is so quick, so eager, so agile, that it makes immature people drive like idiots.
We all fell into that latter category. Example: Early evening, medium traffic, good visibility. I'm
minding my own business in the right-hand lane with the cruise control set at 80 mph. Another idiot
blasts past in a 5.0 Mustang, and all self-discipline vanishes. I'm on him like a leopard on a
tethered goat. He tries to hold me off, but he hasn't a prayer. A small hole opens, I give the

perhaps the ultimate tuner sedan. Maybe it was the influence of Mercedes' cross-town partner.
Porsche didn't just assemble the car. It breathed in life, and there was a thrilling wildness, an edge
to the car, just as there was to a 911 Turbo of the same generation."

A serious "Wolf in Sheep's Clothing"; performance tests of the day yielded impressive results:
0100 km/h (062 mph) times of 5.5 to 6.0 seconds and acceleration through the quarter-mile (0.4
km) in 14.1 seconds at 163 km/h (101 mph). The top speed was redline limited at 6,000 rpm to
260 km/h (~160 mph). With its aggressive stance: 1.5 inches wider track, 0.9 inch lower profile,
factory flared arches, side skirts, deeper & wider front bumper and wider tires, the 500 E is easily
distinguished from its lesser brethren. Because of its look, limited numbers, hand-built construction
and unique pedigree the 500 E was considered a "modern classic", even within Mercedes-Benz
soon after production ended in 1995. Today it's considered an iconic model - the very first to sow
the seed for bonkers performance Q-car Mercs. With traditional rock-solid build quality that has
long since disappeared from MB's accountants realising it was fruitless to make cars built to last
so well, this is a model that is much sought after amongst classic performance Benz purists. They
continue to rise steadily in values now & are set to skyrocket in the long term. As of June 2011, an
example of a 1995 E500 Limited is on display in the new Porsche Museum in Zuffenhausen,
Germany.

This unique left-hand drive Mercedes Benz E500 W124 is likely to appeal primarily to markets
where cars are driven on the left side of the road & would probably be destined for Europe where

supplied new in Japan this E500 was awarded the highest 4B auction grade and is in fantastic

condition outside, inside and underneath.Having been driven only on Japanese Roads with no
salt, sand or grit & super smooth surfaces - this unique E500 is in top condition inside, outside and
underneath - despite being now over 20 years old.Colour is striking silver; a great traditional
Mercedes-Benz colour. Original MB wheels have been replaced with genuine 18 AMG 2 piece
split rims which are 8.5x18 front and 10x18 rear. These endow the car a discreet but muscularly
purposeful stance. Wheels are in excellent condition with good quality performance tyres. These
rims are genuine AMG, produced under licence by BBS and as such are a very strong & well built
wheel. Tyres are very good with plenty of tread depth remaining, brakes are excellent with plenty
of pad and disc wear left.
Engine bay presents very well and is super clean, further evidence of a past caring owner, intake
pipes have been recently renewed which is nice too see. The all important engine wiring loom has
been renewed & carries the date code on the label. There are service labels on the car and engine
oil upon arrival to the UK was a golden honey colour, an excellent sign of careful maintaince Oil
changed every 3,000km!).The engine on this example is refined yet brutish when provoked whilst
the four speed autobox shifts smoothly and precisely. There is no transmission shunt and it kicks
down properly. Perfectly straight & true, this is just how a really good E500 should be; a joy to
drive.
This unique E500 recieved a very special suspension upgrade with the previous fastidious owner
spending a huge amount on performance replacements.The front & rear SLS self-levelling shock
absorbers are the same spec as the E60 6.0L AMG W124. This is a very rare and desirable
upgrade for an E500 with adjusted valving giving better body control over the stock units, weve
never seen this before as parts for this conversion are very expensive & rare! Part number decals
on the fronts are (HWA 124 320 1530) and the rears are (HWA 124 320 0313) confirming these
are genuine W124 E60 6.0L AMG items.
Beautifully finished, this refined road car blends strong performance with solid engineering and
luxurious trappings. The 500E is impressively stable at speed, with a rock-solid bearing that
inspires confidence. Comfortable and luxurious with sound ergonomics and attention to detail
round out the benefits of a car that was built to cruise at Autobahn speeds of over 150 mph hour
after hour. Above 3000 rpm or so, the V8 engine feels virtually like a runaway freight train. Just a
touch on the throttle pedal is answered by a gush of power, as the V8-powered 5-litre moves away
from a stop with no sense of strain. Handling is characterized by quick response and only
imperceptible body lean with suspension (Self leveling at the rear) that exudes quality and readily
soaks up bumps & road imperfections whilst still offering immense fast progress capability.
Braking is powerful and fade-free. Engine sounds are nicely muted, only becoming really audiable
when the engine is encouraged to work harder. Occupants get plenty of luxury from factory heated
& electrically adjustable leather Recaros sporting a multitude of adjustments, along with good leg

& head room. A trip for 4 people to the airport isn't problematic. The trunk / boot ranks as
cavernous!
Simple, unobstructed gauges are accompanied by clearly marked controls and sound proofing
that is is still considered very good, even almost 2 decades after this car was built. Aside from very
low drag coefficient, even by today's standards - lots of great design features abound on this car,
from a time when Benz used to be designed and developed by passionate engineers, not the over
powered bean-counters of the last decade which are the cause of decline of Benz quality
standards.
Specification includes: 32 valve quad camshaft, 322 bhp 5 litre V8, with switchable 4 speed
automatic. Original options include Steel electric sunroof, Dual SRS front airbags, leather steering
wheel, ABS, ASR (Automatic Slip Control), power steering, cruise control, etc. Drivetrain includes
powerful no-nonsense large diameter fully vented discs (320 x 30 mm vented front & 300 x 22 mm
rear) and large horizontally opposed (4 & 2 Piston) ATE calipers. Original Mercedes Evolution II
wheels are of size: 17 x 8.25 +34 & shod with new quality performance tyres of size 245/40R17
at each corner. These are the holy grail of wheels for a W124 and look sublime combined with
unmarked silver bodywork.
Interior comforts: This car shows on a VIN check to have been specified with a long list of options
when new. Both front seats have full electrical adjustment with 2 memory settings. These
comprise original Recaro heated seats and microfilament rear window demister. Steering wheel &
shift knob are leather trimmed and wood veneers are walnut throughout. As with all E500's there's
a large electric sunroof, which works perfectly too. The sound system includes a SONY 200W
head unit as well as uprated original speakers. There are remote controlled door mirrors (For both
sides), Climate Controlled air-conditioning, wood veneer on door trims, dash and centre console.
Rear headrests come down for reversing - at the touch of a button on the centre console. All doors
(including the fuel cap & boot lid) lock pneumatically. A remote control with integrated key
operates the locking system. Note the inclusion of headlamp wash wipe (Factory fitted) and
European sized number plate mounts. The original wheel brace, tool kit and spare wheel are
complete.
Interior of this example is fantastic. The leather throughout is in superb condition, confirming this is
a genuine low mileage car Its clearly evident this example has been kept out of direct sunlight and
garaged by its previous owner.The rear seats look like theyve never been sat in. One of the best
condition E500 interiors weve seen and we supply only the best we can find, so this is particularly
special. The patina on the dashboard is excellent and this has been a non-smoker car. Veneers on
this example are like new throughout, with no cracking and a deep shine still remaining in the
lacquer.AMG white face clocks have been fitted - and display total mileage the car has covered
since new. Headlining is in super condition free from dirt or sagging.Steering wheel is a lovely

matching leather/wood item in fantastic near new condition. Not the steering column features the
(electrically adjustable) reach option(441) not all E500s have this.The interior of this example is a
very nice place to be indeed.
Completely rust free: This example has never seen salt and always been driven on Japan's
beautifully kept roads & has been owned by a mature driver (non-smoker) since new, garaged
when not in use, so condition is as perfect as can be.
Since arriving to the UK recently, this E500 has received our usual extensive service program to
ensure the car runs perfectly for the new owner. Belts, fluids inc diff, transmission, engine
oils+filter have been renewed with high quality Castro l/ Mobil fluids and genuine Mercedes parts.
Air & pollen filters replaced. 8 new Bosch spark plugs, 2 distributor caps & 2 rotors have each
been renewed as part of our thorough and extensive service preparation. A new genuine
Mercedes drivebelt has also been fitted and brakes were bled with fresh fluid. Being in perfect
electrical and mechanical condition too, it's ready to be used as reliable daily transport, or just kept
for special occasions.

(1). Starting with your inquiry, we provide a quote or e-mail communication, so that
we are clear on just what you are after. We ask for detailed information from you, so
we can provide an accurate quotation from the beginning. If you are inquiring about a
car from stock, steps (2) and (4) are not required.
(2). When sourcing to order, our quotation is based on your requirements. As long as
your budget is sufficient for the car youre after & the car is likely to be available, we
will be prepared to find the car you order, or better. Remember: even if you budget
too much, it doesnt matter. We operate a system of supplying the best car we can
find, plus a set fee of 900. If we can buy your car for a low price, then you make the
corresponding saving.
(3). When you are ready to proceed, we ask for a deposit (& completed order form, if
applicable). The deposit is usually 1,000. If you want a car worth over 10K OTR,
then the deposit is 1,500. The deposit is fully refundable without question, should
you for any reason need to cancel before a car is bought on your behalf. If you are
reserving a car from stock the deposit is refundable less costs and time incurred
provided you cancel 4 working days before shipment from Japan.
(4). Miguel, our buyer keeps you informed via e-mail periodically whilst searching
for your car. Sometimes it can take weeks, even months to find the right car. In
addition to Miguel attending the major Tokyo auctions daily, we have buyers
searching daily throughout Japan for the car you want. No news simply means we
havent found it yet. We dont buy the first car which comes along. It must meet or
exceed your requirements whilst not costing more than the OTR price we agreed,
though it frequently costs less.
(5). As soon as available, we will e-mail you up to 30 detailed photographs, showing
all aspects of your car. We also include a detailed description. Of course, total OTR
price is known at this stage, so we let you know. Cars are insured from the time
theyre bought, to the time they are completed & collected by you in UK.
(6). Usually, boats are available every 2-3 weeks, from Japan to UK (Southampton).
We arrange for your car to be shipped on the first vessel available. Around the time
the car is shipped, we ask for the second instalment. Typically this is approximately

60% of the cars OTR total cost. Note that the car we supply to you is fully insured at
all times prior to you collecting it.
(7) We arrange booking of the SVA test in advance - shortly after the car departs, so
that the car can be tested as soon as possible upon arrival to UK. We also inform our
UK agent of your full contact details and information on everything which needs doing,
to make sure the car wil be presented in beautiful condition.
(8). Shipping takes 5 weeks. Around 2 weeks before arrival, we ask you for the final
instalment, to cover Import duties, VAT, shipping, UK conversions, testing,
registraton etc.
(9). Before the car arrives, we arrange customs clearance, etc. so the car neednt
spend un-necessary time waiting at the docks upon arrival. It usually takes 3-4 days
for cars to be unloaded and cleared by UK customs.
(10). The car is sent from Southampton to our UK agents premises in Canterbury
aboard a car transporter. Upon arrival there, it is SVA converted, derestricted, SVA
tested & MOTd (If applicable).
All minor cosmetic work required (e.g. bumper scratches) is carried out. The car is
fully valetted just before you collect it.
(11). The car comes with 6 months road tax and is fully registered in your name as
the first UK keeper. If you have a suitable private number plate youd like to go on the
car, we can also arrange this, provided you have a DVLA retention certificate.
