Letter to ParentsDear Nathan Hale Parents and Families,

We hope this finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy. Although this is a time of uncertainty, we are committed to providing learning experiences for all

of our students at Hale. We are writing today to share our plan to support your child's remote learning while school is closed until April 30th.

Your partnership, feedback, and collaboration are critically important to support your child’s engagement in remote learning. Please take a few moments to read

below for information about our plan, expectations for your child, and the ongoing communications and assistance we will provide to keep students engaged,

learning, and healthy while schools are closed.

What is Hale’s plan to provide remote learning for my student during the closure?

Our teachers will provide their students daily learning activities and will be available for at least two hours every day to keep students connected and

engaged until school re-opens. Your child will also receive regular communication and feedback from their assigned teacher on learning activities. Please

view our school’s Remote Learning Plan by clicking HERE to view your child's lesson plans and their teachers daily availability.

How do I access the plan and materials?

Our remote learning plan is posted on HaleSchool.org. Materials are also available for pickup every Tuesday - Thursday between 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM.

What communications and guidance can my child and I expect?

Families will receive an email blast from me every Tuesday and Thursday with any updates. This will also be posted on our Website. This information can be

found in the Remote Learning Plan on HaleSchool.org. Also, every Friday, we will have a video message from someone in our Hale Community, that can be

found here.

Thank you for going above and beyond to support your child during this difficult time. Please continue taking care of each other and yourselves as we face this

health crisis together. We know there are many unknowns ahead of us, but we will do whatever it takes to keep our school community safe, healthy, and

engaged during this time.

Sincerely,

Dawn Iles-Gomez

Principal

Directions for technology

-All communication from Administration can be found on our website. Please go to haleschool.org. Under, “About Us” go to “Announcements”. There, you will find weekly updates.

-Every Friday, there will be a video message from someone in our Hale community. Please go to haleschool.org.. Under “About Us” go to “Video Gallery”.

-We will also post weekly images that are shared with us from families that show our Hale Hawks working from home. This can be found at haleschool.org.. Under “About Us” go to “Photo Albums”.

-We recommend that all students check their emails every Monday - Friday. This is how students check their CPS email:● When signing on to a CPS account off site, answers to security questions may be required. If your child does not remember his security questions

send an email to Mr. McCormick at [email protected]. He can reset them. When creating new answers select only 3 questions, keep them simple and write them down.

● All students from Kindergarten through Eighth grade have usernames and passwords.○ Grades K-2: Only some of the lower grades (K-2) use them, so check with your student or their teacher. If they do not know their username

and password, contact their teacher, Email addresses can be found at here.○ Grades 3-8 use Google Classroom to deliver assignments. Google Classroom can be signed on through the students email using their

username and password. Here is a video that shows how Google Classroom works. This will help our parents, but believe it or not, your kids can show you

-If you would like more resources to keep your child engaged, please go to haleschool.org. Under the “Home” scroll down and you will see the word, “Links”. There you can find free, extra resources for your child.

-If you have questions for your child’s teachers, please go to haleschool.org.. Under “Staff Directory” you will find the name of our staff members and their email.

Growth Mindset

I know that these are very challenging times for all of us. Changing to Remote Learning in 2 weeks has been a huge task for CPS, and it might be intimidating for many of us. The good news is that our kids are great at technology, and many of the questions you have, they may be able to answer. If not, just email your child’s teacher, and we will work through it together. The most important thing is that we all stay healthy, safe and support one another through this historic time.
