DESCRIPTION
The Comprehensive Gifted Program at Hale is designed to provide students who possess advanced intellectual, academic and/or creative capabilities with an educational opportunity that reflects interdisciplinary studies, academic rigor and critical and creative thinking. COMPREHENSIVE GIFTED PROGRAM (CGP)
The Comprehensive Gifted Program is offered in selected
magnet, magnet cluster, and open enrollment schools
throughout the Chicago Public Schools system. It is
designed to provide a challenging, accelerated program of
study for the advanced students in grades 1-8 in each
participating school. The CGP promotes curriculum
acceleration and differentiation for its targeted students.

Hale’s Comprehensive Gifted Program (CGP) will begin Fall of 2015 in grades 1-4 and will continue to grow the continuum until the year 2020.
PROGRAM ACTIVITIES
Students in the CGP program
receive accelerated instruction that
is one year above grade level.
CGP gifted coordinators commit to monthly professional developmentMonthly professional development information is shared and discussed during monthly CGP Committee meetings.
CGP leaders establish community partnerships at the local level to maximize resources beneficial for students’ learning.
The program is aligned
with the Illinois State
Code for establishing
and maintaining gifted
and talented programs.
Units of Study are
designed in alignment
with the Common Core
Standards.

Primary students demonstrating
advanced academic achievement as

assessment.

Teachers in the CGP are
highly trained, highly
qualified candidates who
have participated in a
myriad of training.
The Office of Magnet, Gifted
and IB programs offers
teachers training in
curriculum and instruction in
best practices or gifted and
talented learners.
TRAINING
Teacher training is also offered through Gifted Education Seminar and Best
Practice Workshops.
