I have posted this entire presentation on the Parawhenua Marae facebook page fyi. I then took some time to explain the Tuhoronuku process to date and upcoming steps including a look at who the hap! kaikorero are for the Waimate-T aiamai -Kaikohe area. I made it known that I was not ambitious about being one of the three from our area that go to the main table, but if I was considered worthwhile and a nomination for me was forthcoming from my fellow hap! kaikorero then I would accept and represent our people well.  JULY 2014

TE URI TANIWHA HAP!  KAIKORERO

MONTHLY UPDATE

On Sunday 6 July a brave and

committed bunch of people came out

at 5.00pm to Parawhenua Marae to

listen to my presentation about the

Tuhoronuku process and hear some ofmy thoughts about the process and

where things might be headed for us in

and from Te Ahuahu.

After some brief mihimihi and

introductions I began the evening with a

very brief video presentation ,courtesy

of ‘youtube’, about the Waitangi claims

process including both hearings process

and the direct negotiations process. I

have posted this entire presentation on

the Parawhenua Marae facebook page

fyi. I then took some time to explain

the Tuhoronuku process to date and

upcoming steps including a look at who

the hap! kaikorero are for theWaimate-Taiamai-Kaikohe area. I made

it known that I was not ambitious

about being one of the three from our

area that go to the main table, but if I

was considered worthwhile and a

nomination for me was forthcoming

from my fellow hap! kaikorero then I

would accept and represent our people

well. Hone Mihaka expressed his

disinterest in being at the table but did

express his support for Moana Tuwhare

of Te Popoto. Terri Lomax is keen to

have a go at sitting at the table. The

hap! kaikorero nominations and

elections will take place on the 25 July. This hui and process is for hap!

kaikorero only. A full list of the hap!

kaikorero is on my video presentation.

Once the elections for hapu kaikorero

are complete, the next major step will

be to select negotiators. Between then

and now I would like to hear what our

people needs, want and expect from

the settlement process.

I have uploaded my presentation to the Parawhenua Marae facebook page, on this you will see my commitments as hap!

kaikorero for Te Uri Taniwha - one of my commitments is to provide a monthly newsletter like this one just to keep

everyone up to date with what is being discussed and give you all an opportunity to have your say through me (or Hone or

Terri).

So until mid-August, take care of each other, stay warm, dry and safe on the roads. Arohanui me nga manaakitanga, Hinerangi
