    Las Vegas 7 runs, 9 hits, 0 errors Tacoma 12 runs, 16 hits, 0 errors RECAP: RF Stefen Romero, LF Patrick Kivlehan and C Steve Baron each homered as Tacoma defeated Las Vegas 12-7 on Friday night. Kivllehan (3x4, HR, 2 RBI), Romero (3x5, R, 2B, HR, 3 RBI) and 3B Leury Bonilla (3x5, 3 R, 2B) each led the Rainiers with 3 hits, while Baron (2x4, R, 2B, HR, 4 RBI), CF Leon Landry (2x5, 2 R, 2B, RBI, SB) and 1B Jesus Montero (2x5, 2 R, 3B) each collected 2 of the teams 16 hits. Starter Stephen Landazuri (4.0,4,4,4,4,1) allowed 4 runs on 4 hits over 4.0 innings, but did not factor into the decision. LH Lucas Luetge (1.2,5,3,3,2,0,2HR) recorded the win, despite allowing 3 runs on 5 hits over 1.2 innings. RH Danny Farquhar (2.1,0,0,0,0,5) and RH Tony Zych (1.0,0,0,0,0,2) combined to strikeout out 7 batters over 3.1 scoreless innings to clouse out the game.

    HEY NOW YOU ARE AN ALL-STAR: The Pacific Coast League announced that Tacoma Rainiers infielders Jesus Montero and Ketel Marte, along with right-handed pitcher Forrest Snow will represent the PCL in the First National Bank Triple-A All-Star Game. The contest will be held

    at Werner Park in Omaha, Nebraska on Wednesday, July 15 at 7 p.m. CST and will be televised on MLB Network. Montero and Ketel were selected as starters, while Snow was selected to the team as a reserve. This marks the second consecutive season that multiple Rainiers players will start for the PCL in the Triple-A All-Star Game. Infielders Chris Taylor, Nick Franklin, and Gabriel Noriega started for the PCL in 2014 and were joined by right-handed pitcher Logan Kensing.

    MARINERS SIGN KRATZ: The Seattle Mariners have signed catcher Erik Kratz to a minor league contract. Kratz, 35, has played with 4 Major

    League teams over the last 6 seasons, appearing in 180 games with Pittsburgh (2010), Philadelphia (2011-13), Toronto (2014), and Kansas City (2014-15). In 180 Major League games, Kratz has combined to bat .217 (107x492) with 21 doubles, 23 home runs and 67 RBI (.270 OBP, .400 SLG, .670 OPS). His best season came in 2012 with Philadelphia where he batted .248 with 9 doubles, 9 home runs and 26 RBI, including throwing out 15 of 33 potential base stealers. Kratz started the 2015 season with the Royals, but played just 4 games (1 start) before heading to the disabled list on May 6 with a foot injury. He batted .214 (12x56) with 2 doubles, 4 home runs and 12 RBI in 15 games with the Triple-A Omaha during a rehab assignment, but was designated for assignment after being activated from the DL on June 20. Kratz was claimed by the Boston Red Sox and assigned to Triple-A Pawtucket, but chose to decline the assignment and become a free agent.

    REHAB ASSIGNMENT: RHP Hisashi Iwakuma has made 2 rehab assignment with Tacoma: June 25 vs. Reno (4.0,3,0,0,1,4) and June 30

    vs. Las Vegas (5.2,5,1,1,1,6. Overall with Tacoma, Iwakuma is 1-0 with a 1.35 ERA (2 ER, 13.1 IP). He previously made a rehab start with the Everett AquaSox on June 20 vs. Eugene, allowing 1 run on 3 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 1 in 3.2 innings. Iwakuma was placed on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to April 21) with a right lat strain on April 24. He underwent a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) exam on April 25 and the results were read by a radiologist and by Seattle Mariners medical director Dr. E. Edward Khalfayan and confirmed a diagnosis of a Grade 1 strain of the right latissimus dorsi. Iwakuma, 34, is 0-1, 6.61 in 3 starts with Seattle this season (16.1 IP, 12 ER). He last pitched April 20 vs. Houston, leaving the game in the sixth inning with a 5-3 lead. His final line was 5.1 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 3 SO and 2 home runs allowed. For the season, he has allowed 5 homers in 16.1 innings pitched. Opposing hitters boast a .308 batting average against, after Iwakuma limited hitters to a combined mark of .235 in his first three seasons (2012-2014). Iwakuma finished the 2014 season 15-9, with a 3.52 earned run average. He made 28 starts despite missing all of April on the disabled list with a torn tendon in his right index finger.

    OF NOTE:

    This season the Rainiers have recorded 10 or more hits in 38 games, including 13 in the last 19 gamesthe Rainiers are batting .280 (802x2860) with 425 runs scored, 131 doubles, 25 triples, 79 home runs, 390 RBI and 98 stolen bases. o On the road the Rainiers are batting .294 (420x1427) with 229 runs scored, 75 doubles, 20 triples, 33 home runs, 205 RBI and 53

    stolen bases in 39 games on the road, compared to .267 (382x1433) with 196 runs scored, 56 doubles, 5 triples, 46 RBI, 185 RBI and 45 stolen bases in 43 games at Cheney Stadium.

    Since May 27, INF/OF Shawn OMalley has hit safely in 28 of his last last 32 games, batting .376 (47x125) with 22 runs, 4 doubles, 4 triples, 3 home run, 22 RBI, 8 walks and 8 stolen baseduring this stretch, OMalley has raised his season average from .223 to .304. o Since June 13, OMalley has hit safely in 14 of 16 games, batting .415 (27x65) with 12 runs scored, 3 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run, 9

    RBI, 4 walks and 6 stolen bases.

    In his last 23 games, since June 8, OF Stefen Romero has recorded 13 multi-hit contests, during this stretch he is batting .376 (35x93) with 18 runs scored, 12 doubles, 2 home runs, 18 RBI and 5 walks.

    3B Carlos Rivero hit .329 (26x79) with 11 runs scored, 4 doubles, 3 home run, 10 RBI, 5 walks and 1 stolen base in 21 games in June. o Rivero has recorded 8 multi-hit contests in his last 16 games, batting .344 (21x61) with 9 runs scored, 2 doubles, 3 home runs, 8 RBI,

    4 walks and 1 stolen b ase.

    1B/DH Jesus Montero has hit safely in 62 of 79 games with 32 multi-hit contests, batting .322 (103x330) with 53 runs, 12 doubles, 3 triples, 13 home runs, 61 RBI, 19 walks and 2 stolen bases. o Montero has hit safely in each of his last 6 games, batting .583 (14x24) with 7 runs scored, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs, 5 RBI

    and 2 walks.

    LH David Rollins is currently on a rehab assignment with Tacomain 7 relief appearances, has has not allowed a run in 9.1 inningshe has limited opponents to a .212 (7x33), while walking 1 and striking out 8.

    RH Forrest Snow is 7-4 with a 2.24 ERA (19 ER, 76.1 IP) in 18 games, 11 starts with Tacoma. o Since May 30, Snow is 6-0 with a 1.56 ER (7 ER, 40.1 IP) in 7 games, 6 starts...during this stretch, he has limited opponents to a

ROY HOWELL TAKES OVER AS MANAGER: The Seattle Mariners announced that hitting coach Roy Howell would assume managerial duties for the Jackson Generals for the remainder of the 2015 season beginning June 30. Jim Horner, who had managed Seattles Double-A affiliate since the beginning of last year, recently accepted an assistant coaching position at Washington State University. It marks the second-consecutive season that Howell has taken over as manager for a Seattle affiliate. Last March, he replaced Rich Donnelly as the manager at Triple-A Tacoma after Donnelly was named the Mariners third-base coach in Spring Training. He led the Rainiers to a 74-70 mark, and his 74 victories were tied for the 9th-most by a manager in his first full season.     SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game to be played on Sunday, July 12th at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, as part of All-Star weekend. Marte, 21, fractured his left thumb on May 31 vs. Round Rock and was placed on the Tacoma disabled list on June 1. He is currently rehabbing

    at the Peoria Sports Complex, but is expected to be ready and able to play in the Futures Game. Marte hit safely in 42 of 51 games with 19 multi-hit contest, batting .343 (68x198) with 30 runs scored, 10 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs, 24 RBI, 18 walks and 17 stolen bases with AAA Tacoma. At the time of his injury (through game on May 31), Marte led the PCL in average (.343/68x198), games (51) and hits (68), while ranking 2nd in stolen bases (17) and at-bats (198) and 3rd in lowest TPA/SO ratio (11.05). Marte was signed as a non-drafted free agent on Aug. 13, 2010. Over 5 seasons in the Mariners organization, he is batting .292 (487x1670) with 271 runs scored, 66 doubles, 19 triples, 162 RBI, 104 walks and 97 stolen bases in 427 games. Diaz, 21, is currently pitching for AA Jackson in the Southern League. In 16 starts between A Bakersfield and AA Jackson, Diaz is 4-6 with a

    2015 U.S. PAN AMERICAN MEN'S BASEBALL ROSTER

    Seattle Mariners minor league INF/OF Patrick Kivlehan (AAA Tacoma Rainiers) was named to the 2015 U.S. Pan American Mens Baseball Team roster. The team will compete in the Pan American Games in Toronto, Ontario (baseball competition to be held in Ajax), July 10 to 19. The U.S. roster features 24 players not currently on Major League Baseball 40-man rosters. The Pan Am Team will first gather in Cary, N.C., at the USA Baseball National Training Complex where it will train from July 4 to 8. The U.S. will then depart for Toronto for the Pan American Games where it will look to win its first Pan Am gold since 1967. First round action kicks off on July 11, against Puerto Rico at the Presidents Choice Ajax Pan Am Ballpark. The 2013 World Baseball Classic Team was the latest professional team fielded by USA Baseball. In the most recent Pan American Games, the 2011 club earned the silver medal with a 3-2 record, falling to Canada in the gold-medal game.
