Close-by destinations include; Nappa-nee, Shipshewana, Goshen, Elkhart and Notre Dame/South Bend.
Whether you are an outdoor enthusiast or just need a little fresh air, don’tmiss a stop at Middlebury’s fine parks offering many opportunities for relaxationand recreation. Krider’s World’s Fair Garden Park, a state historic site, displaysan explosion of flowers in one of Middlebury’s four Quilt Gardens, giant toad-stools plus great picnic spots. Krider Garden provides its visitors with easy accessto the Pumpkinvine Trail. Memorial and East Parks at Town Center afford townvisitors a chance to relax there and share a picnic as well. East of downtown, theRiver Bend Park offers playground equipment, fishing opportunities, a coveredpicnic area and an excellent trail system.
Head north out of town just a few short minutes to visit the 223-acre Bon-neyville Mill County Park, home to Indiana’s oldest operating grist mill. Millersare on hand daily to show guests the flour grinding process. Take some home foryour baking.

They offer handmade furniture, outdooraccessories, natural food products and pro-duce straight from the gardens. Bikers, runners and walkers alike aresinging the praises of the second season ofthe Middlebury connections to the Pump-kinvine Nature Trail. Middlebury is at thecenter of this scenic, paved trail now en-abling participants to travel at their pacefrom Shipshewana to Middlebury toGoshen. Organizations are continuing toimprove the informational signage aroundtown for the thousands we anticipateusing this greenway that runs rightthrough Middlebury. Reported usage in2014 was over 80,000 — a great numberwe look to surpass in 2015! Of course,each and every one of you is invited tostop in Middlebury for a rest, a bite to eatand some scouting of our business com-munity that you’ll want to come back tovisit in depth.
We’ve not yet even mentioned ourfour Quilt Gardens along the HeritageTrailSM and three Quilt Garden murals in2015. The businesses and organizationspresenting these Gardens donate time,materials and their love of the outdoors toall who come to share in the delicatebeauty of these intricate floral designs.
