æABE Level 6 Advanced Diploma in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management

Tourism is the world’s largest industry with revenues over $500 billion. The new revised Travel, Tourism and Hospitality management qualification from ABE links business principles with sector specific specialisation.

The qualification is QCA accredited and is recognised globally. The qualification introduces students to the principles of modern tourism and explores current issues like ecotourism and sustainable development. The qualification is offered in three levels: Certificate (NQF Level 3), Diploma (NQF Level 5) and Advanced Diploma (NQF Level 6).

Holders of these qualifications will be confident in applying key business and management concepts to the growing sector of Travel and Tourism.

ABE Certificate in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality ManagementThis qualification is an open-entry professional qualification designed to help and guide people seeking a career in travel, tourism and hospitality management or a pathway to Higher Education. The qualification has been designed by academics and employers in order to meet the requirements of those who wish to begin a career or progress to higher level qualifications with the intention of proceeding to university.

Holders of the ABE Certificate are able to proceed to the ABE Level 5 Diploma in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management, to other awarding body qualifications or into employment. The Diploma is recognised by several professional bodies for exemption purposes.

ABE Advanced Diploma in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality ManagementThe Advanced Diploma is accepted by several universities for direct entry to the final year of an honours degree course and a candidate with the relevant work experience may, subject to the rules of the university, gain direct entrance onto Masters-level degrees including MBAs.

Helios International College, a private provider of affordable and high quality higher education runs a wide variety of courses and programmes for a wide student clientele. The courses are suited for continuing and mature students and include in-house and international Corporate Training programs on all aspects of Banking and Finance, Governance, Business Development, Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Information Systems. The College also plans to develop its own Research and Consultancy team, working on the development, deployment and delivery of new training programmes and courses to contribute to the overall local and international education sector.

Core courses run by the College on a semester basis include business management, accounting, law, healthcare, travel & tourism, information technology and English language courses. These are courses accredited by UK accrediting and awarding bodies such as Edexcel, City and Guilds, the Association of Business Executives (ABE) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Entry requirementsApplicants must have:

� ABE Diploma in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management or

� A degree awarded by a recognised UK or overseas university or

� Other recognised qualifications of approved overseas institutions of Higher Education

On satisfactory completion of the nine Diploma subjects students can proceed to the Advanced Diploma. Students may commence the Advanced Diploma when they have seven passes at Diploma level but must sit the examinations for the remaining two subjects in the same session as their first Advanced Diploma examinations. If there is a clash of dates on the timetable the Diploma subjects must be sat leaving the Advanced Diploma subject(s) until the next examination session. The Advanced Diploma will not be awarded unless the Diploma has been completed.
