"CHANGE THE LIVES OF CHILDREN"

Green Coin Banks

Benefiting Foster's Home For Children

Meadow View has been supporting the children of Foster's

Home in Stephenville through their Coin Bank Ministry for

many years. Let's continue helping these children by picking

up one of the "Green Cans" and filling it with your leftover

change throughout the Summer.

Over the years MV members have been very creative in ways

they have filled their cans. Share your ideas with Kathy Odle

or ways you have used the cans to save your coins and she

will print it in the bulletin.

Let’s make this a great and giving Summer for the children at

Foster’s Home for Children!! Challenge your children this

summer to participate, teaching them practical ways to share

with those less fortunate.

The Coin Banks are available at the information desk

and should be returned in September.

“Museum or Mission?”

There was an inner city church, located in a downtown area where there were few residents. They had been struggling for some time due to the declining population of the area. Many of its members were complaining and recommending a move to the suburbs where chances of success were better. It seemed like a God-send when a large corporation offered them a great deal of money for their church site. The corporation wanted to tear the old building down and build a parking lot. The money offered would enable the church to move to the suburbs where they could serve more people. Some resisted the sale because they loved the history and the architecture which went back to the 19th century. Those for the sale and the moving of the church cited the fact that the people were no longer located where the church building was. It was obvious to them that they could serve more people by moving to where the people were. The final decision was stated in succinct terms of: DO WE WANT TO BE A MUSEUM OR A MISSION?

To solve this problem we must always go back to our “roots”. When Jesus said he would “build his church” (Matthew 16), he was not referring to a building. He had in mind the people who were lost and needed the church to bring them his message. We can live on our past history and its accomplishments if we choose, but ultimately our mission remains to “seek and save the lost” (Luke 19:10). As helpful as church building can be, they are not the core of our mission.
