Summer Youth Series Hosted at Meadow View

Tuesday, July 8th at 7:00 PM

We are excited this summer MV will again be hosting one of

the Summer Youth Series. This is a “youth rally” that takes

place each Tuesday evening during the summer months

involving many of the area congregations. More details to

come. If you have any questions please contact Tim Lampley

NEEDED: Sunday Morning Greeters

We are in need of Greeters in the foyer, especially for the

summer months. Many of our regular volunteer greeters will

either be out of town or having health difficulties. If you or

you and your family can help out with this it would be

wonderful. Your young children can serve alongside you. Our

visitors and members need the most assistance 15 minutes

before Classes and between Bible Class and worship service.

Our greeters are so important to our visitors in welcoming

them and assisting them in the locating of Bible classes and

other portions of our facilities. Also, many of our older

members are in need of assistance with the doors as they

maneuver between their car and the building with wheelchairs

and walkers. And this is the time the bulletins are passed out

to our members as well as visitors. Our volunteer greeters

serve once every 4-6 weeks. That would only be once or twice

this summer. Please contact Elden Harris or Bill Harvey.

They are usually at the information desk.

CAUTION PAINT!

The hallway walls in the Children’s Wing are being

“Running Away”

I can't remember what I was upset about, but I do well remember a time as a child when I was mad at my mom and contemplated running away. Thankfully I never reached the point where I actually made a run for it, but some kids do. Now as I look back as an adult I can say with confidence that my mom did a good job in raising me. I understand now why she made me do certain things, and why she forbade me from doing other things. At the time my childishness kept me from understanding her. Her thinking was very much a mystery to me. However, now from a little bit more mature vantage point I can understand her wisdom. People sometimes respond to their heavenly Father the way that some of us did to our earthly parents. Some Christians get upset with God over circumstances in their lives and they depart from him. They just can't understand why he commands what he does, or why he has allowed what he has. The Jews of Jeremiah's day were like that. They had left their God and began to follow false gods (Jer. 2:10-13). God asked this question to them: "What fault did your ancestors find in me, that they strayed so far from me?" (Jer. 2:5 NIV). God hadn't wronged the Jews in any way, and neither has he ever wronged us. The Jews, like us, often didn't understand why God allowed the things to happen that he did (Psa. 10:1). However, the reason why God doesn't make sense to us isn't because he doesn't make sense, but its because of our own lack of sense (Isa. 55:8-9). Just as now from an adult perspective I can understand why my mom did what she did in raising me, from a heavenly perspective we'll be able to understand why God has done what he has. When life doesn't make sense, don't charge God with wrongdoing and run away from him. Just trust that "farther along, we'll know all about it; farther along, we'll understand why."
