The Society will meet on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 for our regular General Membership meeting. This meeting will be at Casa Gangone's (Rocco's) as Father Martin will be our guest speaker. We will begin with the rosary at 6:30.

How do I become a member of the Catholic Church?

As a child, you may have been set on the spiritual journey of becoming a member of the Catholic Church but for one reason or another it was never completed. You may now feel you would like to complete this journey or you may have been a member of another church and for one reason or

another want to become a member of the Catholic Church or you are simply looking for a spiritual home; can I simply say, ‘You are welcome here and always will be’. On Saturday Sept 7th at 9 am there will be an informational meeting for the Right of Christian Initiation of Adults often referred to as RCIA. This meeting will be held in our Conference Room of our Parish Office, If you are planning to attend please let us know by calling the parish office at 609-298-0261. Who is this meeting for? • If you have been asked to be a Godparent or Confirmation sponsor and you have not been confirmed in the Catholic faith and

would like to be confirmed. • If you are planning to get married and your future spouse is not Catholic and would like to become Catholic • If your spiritual journey was started and you wish to complete it • If you were baptized in another Christian church and would like to become a member of the Catholic Church • If you were never a member in any faith and are looking for a spiritual home. If you know of someone who would like to know about this information day please let them know. Looking forward to seeing you.

Nick Chilelli and Deacon Gary Richardson

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

I know I acknowledged the working commi ee from both St. Katherine Drexel and Mary, Mother of the Church Parish and I want to again thank them and compliment them for their hard work and also the volunteers that helped on the day. To all our sponsors of door prizes , your generosity nearly kept us there all night, so thank you. I strongly encourage all the parishioners from our cohort to support the businesses that have supported us. As a cohort we will review and evaluate the picnic and decide on next year.

One of the great challenges in life is always seeking to improve. We can get comfortable in our ways and the way we have always done things. One of the ministries that needs refocusing is the ministry of altar serving. I have appointed two people to oversee the training and development of our altar servers at St. Mary’s: Liz Evans and Joe Gramlich. I will be doing the same for Holy Assump on, and from there con nue to improve and develop the ministry of altar serving.

To this end our first mee ng was held on August 20th and our next mee ng is September 5 @ 6:30 pm at St. Mary’s. This September mee ng is ONLY for those who did not a end the first mee ng and it IS ESSENTIAL that they a end this one. Maybe the wrong impression was given to our altar servers and their parents that altar serving wasn’t that important because if your son or daughter didn’t turn up no one ever followed up to see if everything was all right or was there possibly a problem with the mass you were assigned? Altar serving is an essen al ministry in our parish and due respect will be shown it by providing good training and follow-up. Again I emphasize the importance of the training on SEPTEMBER 5 @ 6:30 in St. Mary’s.

As Labor Day approaches we also approach the beginning of school, and when school begins so does Religious Educa on. I would like to take this opportunity to wish God’s Grace, love and blessing on all those who will be changing schools or beginning school this September. While change and new beginnings can be scary, it can also be exci ng – go find the excitement and be the person God knows you can be.

Love and prayers ,

THE SICK who have been recommended to our prayers…

David Csik, Jr., Maria Corbett, Nancy Walls, Patricia Gates, Nichole Lynn Cochran, James Tomosi, Paul Darata, Fr. Mike Burns, Tim Wolfe, Michael Nuzzi, Betty Ryan Haas, Mary Brophy, Patti Chamberlain, Ed Yaris, Steven Sandler, Dennison Kelly, Rita Barbalace, and all of the sick of the parish.

“St. Vincent asks his followers to be humble, loving servants of the poor. We know that he gave great importance to humility in all that we do for the poor. He did so because that

was his conviction and the fruit of his own meditation on the manner of life lived by Jesus. St. Vincent was also convinced that it was all-important that the poor would feel at ease in our presence. What we do for the poor must come, not only from a loving but also from a humble heart. In a very striking sentence at the end of one of his conferences, St. Vincent shares the conviction that however charitable we may be, if we are not hum-ble, we do not have real charity.” (McCullen, Deep Down Things, )

PARENT MEETING At least one parent should plan on attending a meeting on September 9th at 7PM in St. Mary Church OR September 12th at 7PM in Holy Assumption Church. The purpose of the meeting is to give an overview of changes to the program, how our RE children will be taking part in Mass over the school year and getting opportunities to become more involved. CONFIRMATION CANDIDATES Confirmation Candidates are expected to do a minimum of 30 hours of community service towards their Confirmation requirements. Summer is a great time to work on your service hours. Don’t wait until the last minute to preform your community service. Be reminded that your service hours don’t count until you return your pledge with the supervisor’s signature. SERVING IN CHILDREN’S MINISTRY When you serve in children’s ministry, you add to your faith of family, renew your view of Jesus through the eyes of children, rediscover your inner child and leave your fingerprints on the next generation of Jesus’ followers. All volunteers must be fingerprinted and attend VIRTUS-Protecting God’s Children, a workshop intended to educate volunteers to recognize and prevent sexual abuse. Please visit www.virtus.org to pre-register for a training class. Classes can be taken here on campus or at any other site that fits into your personal schedule. For initial registration, click on the First-Time Registrant box. PARISH WEBSITE www.mmotcp.org Have you checked out the Parish Website in a while? There are many wonderful events going on in and around our Parish. All dates, notices and calendars for our Religious Education Program can be found under the Religious Education link. Check the website on a regular basis for all important notices/updates.
