The Humble ISD Dual Language Program is hosting meetings to highlight the benefits of giving children the gift of a second language. Parents of children starting kin-dergarten in Humble ISD for the 2016-2017 school year are invited to attend on Thursday, March 3 at 8 a.m. (meeting and tour) and 6 p.m. (meeting only) OR on Thursday, March 10 at 8 a.m. (parent tour only) at Hum-ble Elementary School, 20252 Fieldtree Drive. There will be refreshments, door prizes, and free child care for the 6 p.m. meeting only. The Dual Language Program teaches Spanish and English to native and non-native speakers of English in a mixed group setting through literacy in the core content areas and adheres to the 50/50 model, which provides 50 per-cent of instruction in Spanish and 50 percent of instruc-tion in English. The Carrico family decided to enroll their daughter, Ken-nedy, in the Humble Elementary Dual Language Program “so that she would get exposure to other cultures and learn a language that I couldn’t teach her at home,” said Mandy Carrico. “We’re hoping by the time she graduates from the program in fifth grade that she’ll be ready for advanced Spanish courses.” Learn what to do NOW to give your child the gift of a sec-ond language. For more information, contact Kelly Cox at 281-641-1127 OR visit the website at http://www.humbleisd.net/bilingual4all Get a video on Humble ISD language programs at http://youtu.be/25l0E6b19CM

Kindergarten Parents, are you interested in your

child learning Spanish?

Congratulations to Mrs. Nelson's 4th grade class - they are our February Box Tops winning class! They brought in over 400 box tops! We still have 3 more months for your class to win, so keep sending them in!

Parent Satisfaction Survey Open through March 28

Parents can help our school in a meaningful way by taking a Parent Satisfaction Survey. The survey is open March 1 – March 28. Parents can complete the quick, anonymous survey online at www.humbleisd.net or at our campus website. Or, if you prefer a paper copy, you can pick one up in our school office.

Responses will be analyzed to determine what is working well in our school and any areas that may need improvement. Humble ISD is conducting a sur-vey for every school in the district. Parents with more than one child in our school should complete only one survey. If you have children in more than one school, you should complete a survey for each school.

The survey takes just a few minutes, but makes a big difference. Our school will use the results to guide our priorities and plans. We are asking all parents to participate. We appreciate you taking the time to share your opinions and experiences.
