Networking and food will start at 9 am. Lieutenant Matt Connery and TFO Jordan, Teel Aircraft Operations Division, Houston for TX DPS will be our guest speakers. Their talk will be about the aircraft the DPS uses and what is going on with the border. Also, weather permitting, they will be bringing their helicopter for the meeting. They will do their talk and we will then go to the airfield where they will show us the operation of the aircraft and then watch it leave. What we would need is to have a business meeting first, then have DPS do their talk, then all leave for the landing site which is about a mile away. Afterward, there would be no need to return to the meeting building. Website redesign, Part II –

Last month I described the changes being made to the state (TCPAAA) websiteand server migration. This month, the next step is completed. The Region Oneweb pages have now been redesigned similar to those of the state.

Unique to the Region One pages are the Scholarship, Archives, and Photospages, with the Entry Page, Main Page, Newsletters, Board, Meetings,Documents, and Contact pages containing content relative to Region One, Otherpages are cloned from the state for the time being.

The URL or web address of the page remains the same as shown on the bottomof page 1 of this newsletter; http://TexasCPAAA.org/Region1

The Region pages were put online a few days after the February meeting. Sincethat time, the Photos page was added and it has the photos from the Februarymeeting. Some of the pages contain links to other pages that were already inexistence. For example, the Newsletters page has some recent thumbnailimages, but the newsletter archive page is unchanged except for the montlyaddition of a new edition. There are approximately 120 newsletters archived.

The Events page was added Mar. 2.Samples of a few of the pages are below:

Both the state and the Region One pages will continue to evolve as time permits. Anyonewishing to tackle doing a rework of the About and History pages for Region One should contactme. The historical document “Why a Region One” is almost hidden away on the lower part ofthe Links & Misc. Page and possibly it should be included as part of the About and Historypages. Neither the Region nor the state have Historians who could handle this.

February was a busy month for theHouston CPAAA. It started out withstaffing a recruiting table at the CityWide Town Hall Meeting featuringHouston Police Chief Charles A.McClelland Jr. and his CommandStaff. He was joined by HarrisCounty District Attorney DevonAnderson. The event on Feb. 7, thethird in three years, was held atTexas Southern Auditorium. After brief remarks by the Chief andDistrict Attorney, the microphoneswere opened. There was some twohours of questions. The sessionbegan with three demonstratorscarrying signs that read: “Don’tshoot.” They were politely asked to leave the auditorium. During the question and answerperiod, one heckler shouted out comments while a question was being asked and the chiefinvited the person to come to the microphone and promised he could go to the front of the line.

That same day, HCPAAA members assisted with a No Refusal Evening at HPD’s intox center.

During the same week, membersassisted the HPD SWAT teamduring training. The alumnimembers were hostages orvictims.
