Manipulation of skin

The steps I took to manipulate the skin and make it look like it has an airbrushed effect on it.

Upload original image.

Duplicate layer by clicking layer, duplicate layer

Page 4: Manipulation of skin

Select the spot healing tool

Page 5: Manipulation of skin

Select the area you would like to fix. Such as a face blemish.

This slide shows the blemish gone after being fixed.

Select the Quick Selection Tool

Using the + and – tools at the top left bar, select and deselect the area you want to manipulate.

Create a new layer via copy of the skin selected.

Once the layer is created, turn the other layers ‘eyes’ off to see the selected area.

Duplicate this layer X2 so there is three open available.

Click on the first layer that you created (Layer 1)

Click filter, blur and add Gaussian Blur on layer 1

Change the radium to approximately 2.2 pixels then click ok.

This layer should now seem more blurry than the last.

Turn the background copy layer back on to see the face as a whole.

Click layer, layer style, blending options to change the style of the layer.

Change the blend mode from normal to Hard Light then click Ok.

This is the effect that you will get on the image once the hard light has been selected.i

Turn the opacity down to approximately 36%.This will then show in the image. The image should still look slightly orange.

Click on the second layer.

For the second time go to the layer style, blending options.

Repeat changing the blend mode but this time set it to Lighten.

Again there is a difference within the image as the orange is now lighter on the skin tone.

Turn the opacity down to approximately 75%

Page 24: Manipulation of skin

Click the last and final layer.

Repeat clicking the blending options.

Change the blend mode. This time to Linear Dodge ( add)

This layer could look very extreme once the linear dodge is clicked. This is normal.

Page 27: Manipulation of skin

Turn the opacity down as far as you need to to correct the skin colour.

Before And After Manipulation

As you can see the skin manipulation is fairly clear as it looks smoother and the blemishes have now appeared gone.
