The Knowledge Worker
A knowledge worker is anyone who works for a living at the tasks of developing or using knowledge.
• A knowledge worker should both seen and treated as an "asset" rather than a "cost."
• The knowledge tools economize on the scarce cognitive resources of the knowledge worker.
They help freeing-up higher degrees of awareness, mental deliberation and decision making for the more complex decision. They open the doors for creativity.
• « In the 20th century, the productivity of man on machine has been multiplied by a factor of 50; in the 21st century, the productivity of man on knowledge will be multiplied by a factor of 50 ». Peter Drucker, 1993. Peter DRUCKER, Landmarks of Tomorrow (1959)

• Study of the opportunity of building and distributing
specific robots for laparoscopic surgery.
• Opportunity factors:
• Developments already done at CREB (UPC)
• Interest and implication of the Mayo Clinics direction.
• Increasing demand.
• Only one robotic system available, complex and expensive
(da Vinci).
• Development of a Robot for Laparoscopic Surgery as an improved
alternative to the Da Vinci robotic system, following the
specifications provided by Dr. Magrina (Mayo Clinics) for its
continuous improvement.
• Incorporate the work developed at CREB-UPC in the last years on
assistance strategies for surgical robotics.
• Goals:
• Study of the possibility to compose an industrial consortium with
the Hospital Parc Taulí, CREB and Mayo Clinics as main and
first custom & partner.

- Coordinació d’estudis in vivo.

quirúrgiques, o no quirúrgiques.
medicina.

Help4Mood: A Computational Distributed System to Support the
moviments corporals i expressions facials.
tractament.
