LETTERS TO THE EDITORBad experience at Aadhar card camp

Sir, I went for Aadhar card process on Feb. 20 at my allotted timeof 2 p.m in Dharmapuram Corporation School (T. Nagar). I had towaste about 4 hours as the officials demanded some unnecessarydocuments which I did not possess.

They made me wait till 7 p.m before taking my biometric data. When I enquired the reason for not insisting on the said documentsas they did before, they did not offer any answers or an apology.

To add to my dismay, when my turn came, their printer stoppedworking and I was asked to come the next day to collect theacknowledgement receipt.

I request the concerned officials to look into the matter andproperly train the officials so that the common man is not harassed.– G. Chandrashekar, Sreenivasam Apartments, 2nd Main Road,CIT Nagar.

Garbage bin enclosure poses hardship to residentsSir, Corporation has erected an enclosure to store garbage bins

blocking the entire width of the pavement adjacent to the compoundwall of our apartment on 10th Avenue, Ashok Nagar.

There is always an obnoxious smell in the whole area and there isalso an increase in the mosquito population.

Garbage is not cleared regularly and the residents of the slumopposite our flat dump food and plastic in the garbage enclosureadding to the woes. Pedestrians are forced to walk on the road riskingtheir lives. There is a Vinayakar temple close by and the devotees arealso put to hardship.

I request the Corporation officials to dismantle the garbage enclo-sure and shift it to a different location. – K. Jyothi, Secretary, KalaFlats, Ashok Nagar. Ph: 94442 13664

Slum on 11th Avenue hinders residentsSir, Our 21 flat-apartment complex is situated at the junction of 10th

Avenue and 11th Avenue, Ashok Nagar. There is a slum area right opposite our apartment with 22 huts. The

huts came into existence some years ago without proper sanction. These22 families are posing a big nuisance to our flat members by not keepingthe environment neat and clean.

The slum dwellers dump all kinds of garbage on the road and resort toanti-social activities openly. They have encroached 50% of the 80 feet roadand misuse the area adjacent to our compound wall for parking theirvehicles, keeping all kinds of household things and also often block theentrance to our flat. The sewage canal and storm water drains often getblocked and we have to spend heavily to clear the blockage.

The slum dwellers, who have already been allotted place inSemmencherry, refuse to move out. On two occasions, Corporationofficials tried to evict them, but were unsuccessful due to politicalinterference.

I appeal to the Corporation officials to take immediate action to evictthe unauthorised tenements. – K. Jyothi, Secretary, Kala Flats,Ashok Nagar. Ph: 94442 13664

Appeal for post box on 9th AvenueSir, There is no post box on the long and busy 9th Avenue (Ashok Nagar).

There are a number of residential lanes that branch off from it. 9th avenuehas a school, several temples, eateries and commercial establishmentsand is almost in the center of the suburb.

In spite of emails and other modern methods of communication, denizens like me still swear by hand-written letters and greetings to ournear and dear ones. The nearest post box on 11th avenue is quite a distanceaway. Another resident had made a similar request through your papera couple of weeks ago.

I too request the postal authorities to do a survey and erect a post boxat a suitable location on 9th Avenue. – B.N. Vengoba Rao, Flat No. 5, RRFlats, Ground floor, 12th Avenue, Ashok Nagar

Appeal for bus service from K.K. Nagar to CMBTSir, There is no direct bus from K.K. Nagar Bus Depot to CMBT. We

have made a number of unsuccessful representations to the MTC to starta bus service on the above mentioned route.

In other areas, there are share autos plying, but none from here.Residents with luggage are forced to either avail an auto or a call taxi.

We appeal to MTC to at least start a minibus service from the newlyerected MGR Statue (MGR Nagar) to CMBT via Anna Main Road,Nesapakkam, Pondicherry Guest House, Ramasami Salai and JawaharlalNehru Road. – S. Seshadri, President, Golden Jubilee Apartments,Anna Main Road, MGR Nagar
