Parent Drop Off and Pick Up

Keeping students safe is one of

our top priorities.

Over the past few months, we have been receiving

complaints from parents and community members

about unsafe and potentially dangerous actions while

students are being dropped off and picked up. These

concerns include:

• letting students out of vehicles while double

parked,

• allowing students to cross in the middle of the

street instead of using a crosswalk, and

• passing double parked vehicles.

With this in mind, we would like to remind you that

Dominion Street has been identified as the drop off and

pick up zone. Students are required to enter and exit

the building from the doors that face Dominion Street.

The move from Pine to Dominion was made last year for

safety reasons because of all the congestion on Pine

Street.

If you are arriving late or picking your child up during

the school day, please use the front doors because it is

district policy to keep all other outside doors locked

during instructional hours.

Our purpose is not to police parents, but we would like

you to keep in mind that your actions will be mimicked

by your children when you are not around. Ask yourself

if your actions are those that you would like your

children to practice on their own.

Please help us to

keep all of our

students safe. We

thank you for your

support with this.

Something is Hatching in the Library!

Mme Fassler has brought some

fertilized eggs to school and they

are currently in an incubator in

the library. Some of the eggs are

a blue/green colour because the

hens are of the Americauna

variety. After being incubated for

21 days, the chicks are due to

hatch on Tues., March 13th.

Swing by the library sometime

that week to see what's happening!

Grade 6

Mme Christine's class would like to thank those of you

that supported our endeavour at making heating bags.

Whether you gave us fabric or bought a bag from us, we

are very thankful. We made $1000 and will be giving the

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation this money so

they can further their research and find a cure for

diabetes. Thank you so much Lloyd George Community!

Canadian Parents for French

Canadian Parents for French, Kamloops Chapter, is

fundraising at Chapters Bookstore on Thursday, March 8

from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm. A portion of almost ANY

purchase made between those hours is donated to CPF

Kamloops which then helps us run French-based,

community events. It is a great time to stock up on

some Spring Break reading material or Easter presents!

Can't make it to the store that night? No problem, visit

our Facebook page (CPF-Canadian Parents for French-

Kamloops) for the link that lets you order online, or

even buy a gift card that can be used later.

CPF Kamloops is pleased to invite you to our

2018 Concours d'art oratoire competition on Thursday,

March 15 at the Henry Grube Education Centre. Local

intermediate and secondary students demonstrate their

French oral skills with this public speaking, judged event

and vie for a chance to represent our area at the

provincial competition in Surrey. The event runs all day

and the public is more than welcome to come listen to

the varied topics students present. Please note that this

year the primary students will present their Concours

on March 15 at Lloyd George Elementary School not at

the Henry Grube.
