Year 3 RE Workshop On Monday, Y3 had great fun with Andi and Helen from Kids UK with an RE workshop on ‘ Expressing Joy’ at the Sikh festival of Gurpurab. The children learned about Sikhism in a very practical way through a dance and there was some amazing Bhangra dancing by the children!

E-Safety Tip of the Week The internet is an amazing place. Children can play, learn, create and connect– the possibilities are endless, but there are also risks. That’s why O2 and the NSPCC have teamed up to offer free advice and support to parents. You can speak to Guru’s either over the phone or in O2 stores. You don’t need to be an O2 customer! For more information, visit http;//www.o2.co.uk/help/nspcc

City Kitchen On Thursday, 12 pupils from KS2 took part in a healthy eating workshop at Cityserve in Birmingham. Children were chosen be-cause of their positive learning attitude and good behaviour. The day began with a tour of the kitchen and continued with a discus-sion about the importance of healthy eating as part of a balanced diet. There was also an opportunity to take part in a group demon-stration involving sugary drinks, with some alarming discoveries about the health risks of too much sugar. The children then de-signed and made their own healthy lunch including desserts! Over-all the children thoroughly enjoyed the day, including lunch. The food produced was of a high standard and it was wonderful to hear about their exceptional table man-ners too. Clearly we have some budding master chefs!

Snooker ‘Champion of Champions’ It was an incredible day yesterday for the Year 6 children who had the opportunity to visit the Ricoh Arena to watch the Champion of Champions Snooker. The day started with a tour around the stadium, to see how a live sporting event comes together, even meeting the legendary commentator Clive Everton (soon to be MBE!). The children then took part in snooker lessons and games in front of an eager crowd. Lastly, the children enjoyed a very tight match between ‘The Rocket’ Ronnie O’Sullivan (who the children had the hon-our of meeting) and ‘The Whirlwind’ Jimmy White. The highlight of the day was a dance off between two of the children for a signed snooker cue in front of 1000 people. A proud Mr Smith received endless compliments on the chil-dren's incredible behaviour and their interest in the sport. Well done children!

Year 5 and 6 Workshop On Wednesday, some of the Year 5 and 6 mathematicians participated in a workshop in which they were tasked with problem solving and working effectively in teams. They were commended on their enthusiasm and their logical approach to solving the problem and soon some of the children will be chosen to represent the school in a national mathematic competition. Many thanks to the ladies from Explore Learning who worked with the groups.
