If your child would like toast, this must be ordered in advance of the start of the term via Parentpay. The cost for this is £11.80 for Years 1 to 6 and £5.90 for Reception. Parking/ driving near school— This week I have again received complaints from our neighbours about parking across drives. Please respect our neighbours and park considerately. More worry- ingly, we have had reports of cars driving at speed along the pavements while children are close by. The safety of our children is paramount, so please do not drive on or obstruct pavements. We will be asking the police to attend in the new year to reinforce this important message. It has been a busy few weeks, building up to the end of term. Following our wonderful performances from KS1 last week, this week we have enjoyed productions from KS2. On Wednesday morning, parents were treat- ed to a spectacular performance by the Year 3 children of ‘ Straw and Order’- a lively re- telling of the Christmas story. The chil- dren were a real credit and demonstrated enormous confidence when singing and acting, looking marvellous in their cos- tumes. I think we have some budding actors and actresses in the making! A fantastic show Year 3– we are immensely proud of you. Year 4 were lucky enough to perform twice at Four Oaks Baptist Church this week. First for the congregation on Monday and then for their parents on Tuesday. In spite of some technical issues on Monday, the children received wonderful compli- ments from the audience which were mirrored on Tuesday after a spectacular performance for par- ents. We are so proud of them, well done! On Thursday afternoon Y5 and Y6 put on a lovely Carol Service for their parents. We are grateful to Reverend Ramble for allowing us to hold the event at St James's Church, which made it special. All our Christmas performances reminded us of the true meaning of Christmas, to celebrate the birth of Jesus and God’s love for us, which is easy to forget at this busy time of year. The children enjoyed the discos on Thursday evening. It was lovely to see our special visitor who took time out of his busy schedule to pop in and remind the children to leave him a mince pie and a carrot for Rudolf on Christmas Eve. Our thanks go to FoLSS for all their hard work in organising the event. Finally on Friday morning, the staff took to the stage to perform for the children. They presented Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs. It was a lively and amusing performance, which the chil- dren loved! The show ended with our well loved tradition of singing the 12 Days of Christmas. The children enjoyed party food for lunch and our thanks go to our cook Mrs Gallier and her team for their hard work to provide a tasty menu. To complete the fun filled day the children played party games in the afternoon. As 2019 comes to an end, I would like to thank all of our staff for their hard work and our children for making our school such a lovely place to be. Our heartfelt thanks go to all our families for your fantastic support. Thank you also for all the cards and generous gifts the staff and I have received, they are much appreciat- ed. It has been a successful year for the school with the English Hub going from strength to strength and the news that we were the top performing school in Birmingham and high up on the list nationally. We look forward to an exciting year ahead in 2020. May I take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year. LITTLE SUTTON PRIMARY SCHOOL

It has been a busy few weeks, building up to the end of term. Following our wonderful performances from KS1 last week, this week we have enjoyed productions from KS2.

Kids UK On Monday morning, Reception and Key Stage 1 had a lovely assembly delivered by Kids UK explaining the significance of the tra-ditional Christmas can-dy cane. The children learnt through a variety of activities the signifi-cance of each colour on the cane and its

shape. The 5 meanings are: J for Jesus or when inverted a shep-herds crook to protect us all, white for purity, red for blood and the love in our hearts and finally green to represent the evergreen or ever present love of Jesus. The children really enjoyed learning about the meaning and every child was presented with a cane at the end of the assembly. Our thanks to Kids UK and the super assemblies we've enjoyed so far this year, we look forward to those to come in the New Year.

A message from FOLSS It hasbeen a busy and fun packed fundraising few months for FOLSS with our annual fireworks night back in November as well as the Christmas Fayre and the school discos both taking place this month. We also got out on patrol with Santa on Tuesday to bring some festive cheer direct to your doorsteps. Whilst we are still fundraising, we estimate our totals to be in excess of £5500 across the 4 events, all of which will go directly back to the school fund and those added extras which en-rich and support the children's learning. Thank you so much to absolutely everyone, parents, Grandparents, staff as well as our partners at Birmingham Hospital Charity and the Rotary, who have supported us directly or indirectly—we certainly couldn't have run these events or made such a success of them without you and your continued support. This year, we have been lucky enough to see FOLSS grow as a group but we always need more help and we would invite and encourage anyone who would like to get involved in any capacity to get in touch. I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and we look forward to seeing you in the New Year.

Plastic Needed for an exciting art project We are going to be creating art work using unwanted plastic to enter into a national competition. We would really appreciate donations of any unwanted plastic such as bottle tops, beads, small plastic toys, old lego, plastic straws, old plastic cutlery, unwanted cracker toys etc. Please send any donations with your child

Kindness in the Community We have had several collections lately for our wider community, including a Christmas Jumper day in aid of Kids UK and Good Hope Hospital, Erdington Food Bank and cake sales for various charities. Your donations are much appreciated and will make a difference to other people’s lives. Thank you so much for your fantastic support.
