The Year 4 pupils’ workshop was called ‘Who am I’. This introduced the themes of diversity and interfaith, exploring what values and behaviours will help us build positive relationships with people who are different. Through creating their own “ identity backpack”, students reflected on what makes them special and unique. The Year 5 pupils took part in a workshop called ‘ Encountering Faiths and Beliefs’. This award– winning workshop allowed students to learn about lived experiences of faith, belief and identity in a safe space. The session’s aims were to spark curiosity and build empathy. It was led by a team of trained speakers and an expert facilitator, all from different faiths and beliefs. The children really enjoyed the experience. The children learned about the Pika, a small North American mammal, and its distinctive alarm call ‘EEP!’. They found out about bullying and what they could do to stop it if it occurs. The children had fun exploring the topic and practising saying, ‘EEP!’, when they spotted any unkind behaviour. This was followed by questions about the American Pika or Pika Bunny; its size, habitat and behaviour. The children also talked about how it feels to witness bullying and how they could use their voices and imagination in writing. The children thoroughly enjoyed this virtual lesson and learned a great deal from it. Inspirational Person of the Month Greta Thunberg Student & Environmental Activist Reminders We are very keen to maintain our high standards in school uniform. May I remind you that children should wear black school shoes and not trainers or boots. Nail varnish and jewellery should not be worn but watches are permitted. Please also avoid large decorative hairbands. We are trying to encourage our children to take responsibility for looking after their belongings as school uniform is expensive and we want to ensure if items are misplaced, they can be returned easily. We have a constant high volume of lost property and to help this problem we are asking that all uniform is clearly labelled, including jumpers, cardigans, coats, shoes, bags, PE kit and lunch bottles. Thank you. Firework Night Our Firework show is taking place on Tuesday 5th November. Tickets are selling fast so please purchase early to avoid disappointment . This will be a ticket only event which means there will be no entry on the evening without one. You can buy via the online shop; www.hospitalcharity.org/ shop/product/fireworkdisplay or pop into the school office.

Sports Report It was a wet and windy night at Four Oaks as Year 6 played their first league match of the season. A supportive crowd, including Chris Brunt of WBA, watched as Little Sutton continued their unbeaten start to the season with at 3-0 win. Year 6 now find themselves in the Quarter final of the cup and have had a fantastic league start. Thank you to all the parents for braving the rain to support.

Year 5 also took part in an exciting end-to-end game that saw them down to a 3-0 deficit early on in the game. After fighting back level, a last minute goal saw them lose 4-3, however the team work and resilience on display was incredible.

Andi Markham Assembly On Monday we welcomed Andi Markham from Kids UK into school to conduct an assembly for the half of the school who did not attend last week. As usual he brought with him his popular characters Grandad and Jack to help him. The message of the assembly was the importance of making new starts and understanding that we all have many different talents to be proud of.

Book Fair The Book Fair will be open throughout Parents’ Evening for you to have a browse. Every book sold gives us generous commission to use to buy books for our school, so please consider doing some Christmas shopping! Thank you in anticipation of your support and we look forward to welcoming you into school for this event.

Year 4 World Food Day at Villa Park On Tuesday, a group of Year 4 boys and girls went to Aston Villa for a healthy eating and nutrition workshop. The children impressed the staff with their knowledge of the different food groups and engaged in many activities. This included learning about the nationalities of different players, their national dishes and coming up with suggestions of how to make these meals healthier. The children have since been talking to Mr Terry about which food groups they have been eating and how it is important to have a balanced and healthy diet.
