Thank You Morning Tea We had a lovely thank you morning tea last week for all of our volunteers for 2019. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported our school throughout this year. We are very fortunate to have such a wonderful community. It was a fantastic event, raising around $1500, which goes towards the Year 6 Farewell and the Year 6 gift to the school. A massive thank you to Mrs Graham for all her efforts in ensuring this event’s success.

Zac’s No More Chemo Party Day

Please help us to celebrate Zac’s no more chemo party day by dressing up as your favourite Superhero

on Tuesday the 4th December 2018. No gold coin donation is needed as this is just a celebration in

honour of Zac's bravery. Real superheroes live in the hearts of little kids fighting big battles!

Farewell to Long Serving Families

This year we have a few families who will be

leaving the school as their children move on to high

school. On behalf of the staff and students, we

Kearsley Public School does not tolerate bullying of any kind. The Department of Education states that

‘Bullying behaviour has three key features. It involves the intentional misuse of power in a relationship.

It is ongoing and repeated, and it involves behaviours that can cause harm.’ Our school’s anti-bulling

plan can be found on our school website at https://kearsley-p.schools.nsw.gov.au

Semester 2 Reports

Year 6 students will receive their Semester 2 school reports on Thursday 29 November after the

presentation ceremony. All other years will receive reports on Friday 14 December. If you would like to

discuss your child’s progress report with any teacher please make an appointment at a time convenient

to you and the class teacher.

iPLAY

Kearsley Public School is proud to announce a new partnership with Newcastle

University to implement iPLAY. A free research based program that is designed to

help children become more active, motivated and engaged at school. The funding for

the program and the research is provided by the NSW Department of Education and the National

Health and Medical Research Council. Each teacher will undergo a series of online workshops and

lesson observations to help them with improving Physical Education for all students. They will have

access to over 1000 Department of Education endorsed activities and online videos.

On Thursday 13 December the school will be holding it’s annual

Christmas carols and family Christmas movie night. Come along at

5:30pm to enjoy jumping castles and carols. The P&C will also draw

the raffle. The movie Home Alone 2 will begin around 8pm. There will

be a BBQ for dinner as well as Slushies, Fairy Floss, Traditional

Lemonade and Popcorn for sale. The SRC will also be selling drinks.

All children must be accompanied by an adult. Looking forward to

seeing you all there to celebrate another fantastic year at Kearsley

Public School. Thanks to our great P&C for donating money towards

this event.

Christmas Movie Night

PCYC Reward Day

On Friday the 7th of December our students are participating in our school Positive Behaviour for

Learning (PBL) end of year reward day at the Cessnock PCYC. All students who have who have met the

requirements of their Kooka contracts for the whole year are invited to attend. Families of the children

who are ineligible will have already been notified. An invitation and note which includes an indemnity

form has been sent home last week. Please check that the form is signed correctly and payment of $4 for

bus is made to the office by Wednesday 5 December. We are looking forward to a highly enjoyable day!

P&C News

The P&C would like to wish our Year 6 students all the best with their move to high

school. Have fun, stay safe and take all opportunities on offer. The P&C would also

like to thank our Year 6 parents for their support over the years. It has been greatly

appreciated.

A big thank you to our committee members Mrs Karen White and Mrs Jenny Brooks,

whose children will be leaving for high school on Friday. Karen has only been at our

school a few years, but her knowledge and community spirit has been warmly

welcomed. Jenny has been a part of our school community since 2010 and has been

P&C secretary for the last 6 years. The secretary role is one of the busiest and Jenny

has done a fabulous job. You are leaving big shoes to fill ladies. We will all miss you

Jenny and Karen, remember our P&C door is always open!

This year the P&C have decided to hold a cash prize Christmas raffle. Tickets are $10

each, with no more than 500 tickets sold. 1st Prize is $1000, 2n prize is $500 and 3rd

prize is $250. Tickets have gone home to all families. Please return all sold OR unsold

tickets as soon as possible. All tickets returned sold or unsold, will go into a special

prize draw. The raffle will be drawn on our movie night, Thursday 13 December 2018.

So get your tickets in, who wouldn’t want to win $1000 just before Christmas! Prizes

for the special draw include a rugby league jersey, accommodation vouchers, food

vouchers and Taronga Zoo tickets.

Our school shirts and school jackets can still be pre-ordered with payment through the

canteen (correct money would be appreciated) on Monday and Wednesday mornings

between 9am – 10am. Our shirt price is $23, while our jacket price is $34 and school

hats can be purchased for $14.

If you are considering helping out in the canteen next year, please contact the school

office or Amy Archibald on 0431891776 as soon as possible. Our next general

meeting will take place in February 2019.

SCHOOL BANKING

Please send in bank books every Thursday for

Ms Crane to process. Some great prizes can

be earned for regular banking! Thank you.

All volunteers who work in the school canteen, reading

groups or who volunteer and are on school grounds need

to pay a membership fee to be covered for insurance

purposes. Please pay your $2.00 P&C / Canteen member-

ship to the school office ASAP. A prohibited employment

declaration form needs to be filled in as well as providing

100 points of ID. These can be collected at the office or one

can be sent home with your child. Amy Archibald is doing

canteen rosters and can be contacted on 0431891776 for

any questions regarding rosters. If you are unable to make

your canteen day please contact the person you are doing

canteen with to let them know you can’t make it and try to

find your own replacement. Thank you!

The Last day for canteen 2018 will be Friday 14th December. The

volunteers totally clean out the canteen by washing walls and

ceilings, emptying fridges and freezers etc as per school policy.

The last day for lunch orders will also be Friday 14th December.

We wish to thank all our volunteers who give their time to

provide a very valuable service to our students.
