ISSUE 6 TERM 2 WEEK 2 Thursday 29 April 2021
ANZAC Day
Last Sunday it was wonderful to
see so many of our families join
the school in marching at the
Kearsley Dawn Service. Thank
you for taking the time to
participate in this special event.
Our leaders did an amazing job
representing the school and
laying a wreath at the Dawn
Service as well as the Cessnock
service later in the day.
Under 12’s NRL Gala Day
Our Under 12 boys represented
our school with pride and
outstanding sportsmanship at
the NRL Gala Day last week.
The boys had a fantastic day!
Thanks to Mrs Power for
organising and supporting the
boys on the day.
Easter Hat Parade
At the end of last term it was
fantastic to welcome families in
to watch our Easter Hat Parade.
Thank you to our families for
supporting our students in
making their creations at
home—there are some very
creative people in our school
community!
Thank you to Mr Warby and
Mrs Johnson for helping organise
the event.

children will attend in class groups. Small gifts can be purchased by the
students with prices ranging from $2 - $10.
Mother’s Day Breakfast
Thank you to the families who paid their voluntary school contribution for 2021. The money we receive
is very much appreciated and put towards classroom resources for students. After a draw from the hat
by Mrs Trigg the winner of the $25 gift card was the Kipp family.
School Photos
Our school photo day is TUESDAY 4th May 2021. A new system is in place and all orders will be
made online by parents/carers using your child's MSP Photography Flyer. A separate note with details

Kinder 2022 Enrolments
Enrolments are now being accepted for our 2022 Kindergarten intake.
Please call the office on 49901705 to complete a pre enrolment details
form if your child turns 5 by 31 July 2022. This will include proof of your
child’s date of birth (usually birth certificate) and your usual place of residence. A council rates notice
or rental agreement in addition to a utilities account (electricity, water or telephone) suffice as proof of
usual residence. Further information regarding our Kinder Orientation schedule will follow.
NAPLAN 11 May—21 May 2021
National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN)
If your child is currently in Year 3, 5, 7 or 9, they'll sit NAPLAN tests this May. And despite what you
may have heard, there's no reason to panic or start an intensive study schedule for your child. Find out
more: https://education.nsw.gov.au/teaching-and-learning/student-assessment/naplan-online/media/
documents/NAPLAN-Online-fact-sheet-for-parents-and-carers.pdf.
There has been a substantial increase to the cost of the 4 day excursion to Canberra. Families have
already had a tough 2020 financially so we have decided to heavily subsidise the cost of the excursion.
The P & C have generously donated $50 per student and the school will be putting in $65 per student.
We also qualify for a $30 per student PACER grant from the government. The total amount payable per
student for the excursion is $380. This can be paid off in instalments and at any amount you wish
provided it is paid in full by Friday 20 August 2021. Parents can also start paying off smaller amounts
each week if they wish.
* Student Assistance is available to assist families with part payment. Please collect an application
form from the office and return by Friday 14 May 2021. All application are strictly confidential. No late
applications will be accepted after this date.

SRC Easter Egg Guessing Competition
Congratulations to Amelia W who was our winner of the SRC Easter guessing competition. The SRC
raised $92.50, thank you to our school community for their support! All money raised by the SRC is put
towards initiatives that are planned by the students for Kearsley PS.
Canteen Volunteers Needed
The canteen desperately needs more canteen helpers on a Monday and Friday. Can you spare some
time from 9am—11.45am? If you can, please contact Brook Gatt on 0407450566. Any help would be
greatly appreciated. The students love seeing their family helping out in the canteen!
As the weather begins to cool down in the mornings students are wearing their jackets/jumpers to
school and taking them off as it warms up at lunchtime. Please mark all items of clothing clearly so it
can be returned to students when found. There is a lost property box in the hallway outside the office
and parents are welcome to check for lost items there.
Our clothing pool is bursting at the seems, parents are also welcome to see what we have and purchase
an item of clothing for a gold coin donation.

P&C News Welcome back to Term 2! We hope everyone enjoyed
their break.
The P&C will hold a Mother’s Day stall next week on
Thursday 6th May. Small gifts can be purchased by the
students with prices ranging up to $10.
Also don't forget to RSVP for the Mother's Day breakfast
on Wednesday 5th May 8.15am-9am.
Our uniform is looking great in the playground and as
the cold weather has started if you need jackets or a
beanie please come see our lovely volunteers in the
canteen. Our school shirts and school jackets can be pre-
ordered with payment through the canteen.
We have a fundraiser coming up on the 24th May at
Dominos Cessnock. Put the date in your diaries and
have the night off from cooking dinner for the family.
The next P & C meeting will be held on the 4th May at
3.10pm in the staffroom. Kate Sharpe will be giving a
demo on some tasty foods that will be served during
winter in the canteen. We hope to see you all there!

for the first time a Working With Children Check form needs to be filled in as well as providing 100 points
