As a technical and project architect with Brian Mackay-Lyons, FAIA for more than 10 years, Mr. Benz’s projects included the design and construction of several multi-family residential, custom residential, and institutional buildings culminating in the Ghost Architectural Laboratory built between 1996 and 2011 which received the American Institute of Architects Honor Award in 2012. Since joining Madsen, Kneppers & Associates, Inc. in 2012, Mr. Benz’s consulting experience has mostly been in construction defect litigation for building owners as well as architects, developers, general contractors and subcontractors. The projects cover all areas of design and construction for building types ranging from single family custom homes, condominiums, and public and institutional buildings including schools, hotel facilities, fire stations and hospitals.
