THE CATHOLIC COMMUNITY OF ST. MARY MAGDALEN
MOST HOLY TRINITY 11 JUNE 2017
ST. MARY MAGDALEN PARISH MISSION STATEMENT
We, the Catholic Community of St. Mary Magdalen • Embrace our baptismal commitment to Christ • Live a life of faith, service and worship • Seek to transform the world through prayer & evangelization
FROM THE PASTOR
Feast of the Most Holy Trinity
Today on this Feast of the Solem-nity of the Holy Trinity, we come to one of the most fundamental and foundational teachings of our faith, namely that we experience God as three persons: Father, his son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. This Tri-unity of three in one God
is admittedly one of the hardest mysteries for us to live with. All our scriptures today gives us some in-sight into their relationship.
It’s in the Gospel from St. John today that we probably receive our greatest hint or clue. It is the famous line from John 3:16: “God so loved the world that he gave
his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might
not die, but might have eternal life.” This is an impor-tant bible verse that every Catholic should memorize. It speaks of divine love and provides consolation and help, especially when times are challenging.
Love is what the Trinity is all about. It’s the love that God shows us in the amazing gift of Jesus, who in-spires our lives through the Spirit. Do you under-stand this gift? How are you showing your apprecia-tion and gratitude to God today?
WORD FOR THE DAY
“Finding happiness is not what makes us grateful.
It is gratefulness that makes us happy. Br. David Steindl-Rast

MOST HOLY TRINITY SUNDAY
In today’s second reading Saint Paul’s final appeal is a call for unity. God created that unity. Good stewards who share Christ’s life in the Eucharist belong to each other, just as God in the three persons of Father, Son and Holy Spirit enjoy unity. We are an intimate part of God’s divine bond, God’s “family.” Saint Paul maintains that we ought to act that way. In the Church there is a bond of family, yet plenty room for variety. Chris-tian stewards use their uniquely varied gifts to live a Trinitarian faith, in unity, promoting Christ’s peace and justice.
How do we promote unity in our parish?
SETH LEMAIRE CANDIDACY
All parishioners are invited to 11:00 Mass on Sunday, June 18 when Bishop Deshotel will accept seminarian Seth Lemaire as a Candidate for Holy Orders. This is another step in Seth’s priestly for-mation. Seth will be leaving in July to study in Rome for the next four years.
A reception will follow the mass in the ministry building.

the faith and serve the community of St. Mary Magdalen. Congratulations! A reception will fol-low the mass in the Ministry building.
