Gede Wiratha: Bali andIndonesia Would Benefit ifV i s a - o n - A r r i v a l P o l i c yAbolished and Visitors GivenFree Visas.

T h e I n d o n e s i a ngovernment's police of extending

visas-on-arrivals (VOA) tothe citizens of a number ofcountries must be ended in favor ofa visa-free policy. The reasons forintroducing the VOA policy severalyears ago are no longer relevantand counter-productive to theinterests of the Nation.

That's the opinion of I Gde

Wiratha, the former chairman ofthe Bali Chamber of Commerce(KADINDA), former Bali chairmanof the Indonesian Hotel andRestaurant Association (PHRI-Bali) and the owner of severaltourism enterprises in Bali.

Quoted in the Bali Post,Wiratha said the VOA policyintroduced during the reign ofYusril Ihza Mahaendra as theMinister of Law and Human Rightsand was seen at the time as aneffective way of improving State

security and rootingout illegal working

al iens posing astourists.W i r a t h a

asked what was thea c t u a l t h eeffectiveness of theV O A p o l i c y ?Responding to hoso w n r h e t o r i c a lquestion, Wirathasaid: "The terroristacts in this countrywere not committedby foreign nationals,bu t by ou r ownc i t i z e n s . T h eAmericans don't want

to bomb Bali, neitherdo the English or theAustralia have suchintentions. It can bes a i d t h a t t h eforeigners who visit toBali love Bali andIndonesia because ofour diversity of culturea n d i t s n a t u r a lbeauty."

Wiratha saysthe current VOA

policy is impeding nationaltourism; the policy wastes time andmakes people tired. "Just imagine, visitors come from Europe after aflight of 8 hours; wait in line atimmigration for two hours; waitagain for a bus; and thenencounter traffic jams and otherinconveniences. This is so tiring,"explained Wiratha, who also ownsBounty Cruise.

Seen from a Balineseperspective, Wiratha told the BaliPost, the VOA policy has broughtnegative results and damaged theisland's image. Adding, "I think thegovernment of SBY has yet toprovide a meaningful stimulus forour tourism industry." For thisreason, I call on all components ofthe Balinese people and the rest ofthe country to support a visa-freepolicy. "Such a move would notonly benefit Bali, but all ofIndonesia because of the jump in

tourism arrivals that would result. The tourists would not only flow toBali. The tourists would also knowthe rest of Indonesia Papua,Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesiand other destinations. Let's bevisa free and give visas for sixmonths," Wiratha suggested.

He believes such a changein policy would automaticallybenefit the economy and createnew employment opportunities."Hopefu l l y Pak SBY ( thePresident) can consider a visa-freepolicy," he said.

The tourism leader alsodismissed any suggestion that

abol ishing the VOA wouldrepresent a significant loss in Staterevenues. He said he calculatesthe revenues produced by VOA ataround Rp. 35 billion (US$3.9million), all of which is remitted toJakarta. Wiratha said suchrevenues were little more than theincome of an average hotel inKuta, underlining that the damagedone by the VOA policy to date faroutweighs any financial benefitderived from the policy.

Time to Abolish Indonesia's Visa-on-Arrival Policy?

G'day again folks and welcometo the latest and greatestnewspaper in Bali for yetanother week. The past weekhas been a ripper with thekidneys recuperating well andthe guts reducing in size justthat little bit which may be dueto the new morning swimmingroutine. It's a funny thing uphere as most of us simply don'tdo anything except socializeway too much and eat all the

wrong things when choosingfrom a menu. Good fun isn't it.Each morning I have

been dragging myself out ofthe sack and making my way tothe beach for a 20 minutesplash around in the hope oflosing a few pounds ready forthe summer rush of friends thatwill arrive and be ready to gohard for their annual holiday.

At Kuta beach, as lovelyas it is, I didn't realize just howdangerous and strong the ripsare. I guess because the reef is

what makes the area sodesirable to the surfers thathave been coming here formany years. Now, I'm a fairlystrong swimmer so have neverhad a problem at the beach(touch wood) however, duringthe week I did get an email froma fellow Australian who was uphere on holidays. His email isas follows.

H i t h e r e ,I was wondering if you would like t o p r i n t m y s t o r y :

Three days ago, my partner and I decided to go to the beach for a swim, second time since we have been in Bali, as I hardly ever go to the beach I didn't recognize the

red flags, just thought great quiet spot to swim etc. Within about 5 mins the waves were getting pretty big and strong so I said to my partner we better get back in closer to shore, she managed to swim back, but within seconds I was swept out a good 50m, I was getting pounded by these huge waves and I thought this is it I'm going to die, as I kept thinking shit there is no one here to help me,my partner reckons she could no longer see my head due to the huge waves and knows I'm not the best swimmer in the world,

she was screaming for help, one of the surf rescue guys was a fair bit away but saw she needed help, and came sprinting down the beach, flew into the water, I was just about gone, I had no energy left and was think shit I'm going to drown, god I hope it's painless, then I hear Man nik (not sure on the spelling) don't panic I am going to save you, I was really panicking as he came close I thought wow I'm not going to die, I  just thought he was a surfer, I said oh thank you, you have saved my life, he quickly said hey this is just

my job, this is what I do, he then put me on his board asked my name etc, got me calm and explained, that there will be a guy coming on another big board to rescue me and that we better paddle away for here as waves are too big, my partner was on the beach very distraught and crying not knowing if I had been saved as she could not see me, there was another guard with her telling her not to panic that those two guys

Man nik, and Nyoman will save me. It took about 20mins to get back to shore, those two guys are my HERO'S if it wasn't for them I would not be sitting here today. They do a great job out there and I would personally like to thank them with all of my heart that I am only alive because of them, and I

can sit here and tell this story. Like I said to both of them after I stopped hugging and shaking their hands, I will never forget you both ever, you are both my HERO'S. Please all fellow swimmers take care out on the beach, I was lucky to be saved, always swim between the correct flags and always be very very careful, as you might not be as lucky as I was. Regards,

Tom Dougall - Australia  So there you have it, I stress to

everyone, be careful whenswimming at any beach in Baliand not to disrespect theocean, as it is an unforgivingbeast. We all must tilt our hatsto the magnificent job the lifesavers do on the local beacheshere and should all use thatgood old mate “CommonSense” when taking to thewater.

Ok punters that's my banter forthe week, I hope you all staywell, safe and remember A very

wise man once said, “it is betterto let people think you arestupid than to open your mouthand prove you are stupid”Enjoy your week,

CAMBRIDGE, U.K. Newresearch done by the Universityo f C a m b r i d g e p r o v e sconclusively that ChristopherColumbus was black.

DNA analysis of theremains of Christopher Columbus, done by forensic scientists at the

University of Cambridge, provebeyond a shadow a doubt that thefamed navigator was of Africandescent.

“A five-hundred-year-mystery has beensolved,” said Wellington Malley, the head of theCambridge research team. “Even thoughColumbus was born in Genoa, and spoke andwrote in Spanish most of his life, the DNA is clearColumbus was 100% African. We believe he wasfrom the west coast, probably from what is nowCameroon.”

“No way!”, said Carlo Minucci ofBayonne, New Jersey. “Columbus is a full-blooded Italian-America. He sailed here withhis friends Nina and Pinta and discoveredHoboken. That's the way it went down. He'snot black. This is our day!”

Sorry, Carlo. It's the truth. .. Some ofthe remains of Christopher Columbus werefound in Seville Cathedral, in Spain, and somebones were buried in Santo Domingo Cathedralin the Dominican Republic. “All of the bonesand the remains from both locations have beenchecked and rechecked. He's black.”

Columbus died in 1506. In 1537, thewidow of his son Diego was allowed to take thebones of both her husband and his father to theDominican Republic for burial in the cathedralof Santo Domingo. Diego was also black.

Not all African-Americans were pleasedto know learn about Columbus's ethnic identity.“What? Columbo was a thug, a punk. He

sailed out over here and slaughtered theIndians, ” said Fred Johnson of Harlem. “I thinkthe whole thing is bogus, trying to pin a crime onblacks again. This is B.S.”

But President Obama heard news overthe weekend and was proud to know that one ofthe greatest sailors and navigators of all timewas black. “I'm ordering all statues andmonuments to Christopher Columbus be takendown and redone. We want his likeness to beaccurate.”

Mayor Bloomberg in New York said that

the big Italian-Americanparade down 5th Avenue would bechanged to an African-Americanparade in honor of ChristopherColumbus.

“Fuggedabout it,” said TonyCinelli of Brooklyn. “This ain't right. This is the only Italian day we get.

And they take it away from us? Weget no respect. Next thing you knowthey'll be telling us that the Chineseinvented pasta.”

The Grand Marshall of this year's ColumbusDay Parade Maria Bartiromo has been replaced byBeyonce.

Native-American were indifferent to thenews. “Either way we got screwed,” said ChiefWalking Stick, a Navajo Indian.

Well, whether you are black, Italian, or just aColumbus-lover… get out there and celebrate theday!

Australians plan to open Bali Peace Park 'openwithin a year’

Bali bomb victims and relatives pay their respects to those killed in the 2 0 0 2 t e r r o r

attacks.A Ba l inese fami lyprays at a Bali bombmemorial to remembertheir daughter whowas killed in the 2002terror attacks.

THE Australians behind aplan to build a Bali bombingmemorial park in Kuta say it will beup and running within a year.

As the eighth anniversary

of the 2002 terrorist attacks thatk i l l e d 2 0 2 p e o p l e w a scommemorated with a solemnceremony at the former site of theSari Club, the Bali Peace ParkAssociation said it hoped amemorial park would be openedin October 2011.

T h e a s s o c i a t i o n ' soptimism comes even though it isstill locked in fraught negotiationsto buy the site, currently beingused as a carpark, from a privatelandowner who is reluctant to sell.

The land's leaseholderwants to build a new nightclub onthe site, a plan that has drawn

c r i t i c i s mf r o m b o mb in gsurvivors.

" W e d ohave some way togo," associationboard member

Terry Fitzgeralds a i d o f t h enegotiations.

" I t ' sprobably too earlyat this stage to be

able to shed any real light on thec u r r e n t s t a t u s o f t h o s enegotiations, other than to saywe're still working towards it andwe're positive of a successfuloutcome."

Chairman Nick Way saidthe association had raised at leasthalf of the funds they believedwere needed to buy the land and

build the park. The money has been

pledged by a variety of private, corporate and governmentsources, he said.

"We don't believe thatmoney is a problem," he said.

The association hopes tomeet this month with ForeignMinister Kevin Rudd, whoindicated while prime minister thatthe federal government wouldsupport the project.

Bali Governor MadePastika has repeatedly indicatedhis strong support for the peace

park plan and has bannedother developments going aheadat the site.

The association this weekreleased a Balinese universitystudy detailing the benefits thepeace park could bring the

Indonesian holiday island. The study found the park

would attract upwards of 35,000visitors a year and increase thenumber of visitors to Bali.

It also found the parkwould employ 19 permanent staffand bring significant social andeconomic benefits to the Kutaarea.

But there has been somedisquiet about the study'ssuggestion that souvenirs may besold to ensure the park remainsfinancially viable.

Association spokesman

Phil Britten was keen to stressthat the souvenir proposal was"just an idea".

"How far that goes we'reunsure, but we definitely wouldn'tlike it to be a tacky thing, that's forsure," he said.

Airlines to introduce 'cuddle class’"CUDDLE class'' is tippedto become the next bigthing in air travel when itlaunches next month as theclass divide on planescontinues to narrow.

Some airlines arestarting to introduce rows of

three economy class seatst o g e t h e r t h a t c a n b econverted into a large, flatspace suitable for families orcouples who want to stretch out next to eachother.

Two passengers travelling together willbe able to book the third seat in the row for halfprice.

The seats, known as Skycouches andlight-heartedly referred to as "cuddle class'',have been earmarked for launch on some AirNew Zealand services from Auckland to LA inNovember.

Bout ique travel agency TravelAssociates general manager David Lovelock

said the class divide in the sky was narrowingas airlines moved away from the traditionaleconomy-bus iness- f i rs t c lass cabinconfiguration.

Other options include premium

economy, mixed classfares, hybrid first and businessclass offerings and no frills seatsthat low cost carriers typically offer.

Low-cost carrier Ryanairhas recently outlined a plan to sellvertical seats, in which thepassenger stands during their

offerings.Air Canada offers executive first class, while

Virgin Atlantic has an upper class cabin."Mixed class fares are also proving popular,''

Mr Lovelock said."These fares are great options for travellers

Britons find being older than 52 is nothing tolaugh about because that's the age whenthey start becoming grumpy, according to asurvey.

The poll of 2,000 Britons found thoseover 50 laughed far less than their youngercounterparts and complained far more.

While infants laughed up to 300 times aday, that figure had fallen to an average of sixlaughs by teenage years and only 2.5 dailychuckles for those over 60, the survey for cableTV channel Dave found.

Men were also found to be grumpier thanwomen.

One reason for the decline in mirth mightbe the lack of joke-telling skills. The study foundthe average Briton only knows two jokes.

HOROSCOPE PREDICTION 14 Oct - 20 Oct 2010ARIESMarch 20 - April 19Difficult as making plans has been, at least they are finallyorganised. Unfortunately, however, these must beregarded as only halfway arrangements. Between nowand the time when you can consider things finalised, you're bound to go through several versions, eachincorporating new ideas and representing progress over

the ones before.TAURUSApril 20 - May 20By now, it's to be hoped that you're recognising thechanges in your routine you've been battling hard to avoidcould be of huge benefit. Waste no time trying to figure outwhich you'll try and which you'll ignore. Out of character asit may be, you're better off simply plunging in.

GEMINIMay 21 - Ju ne 20The New Moon was only days ago. But you're alreadybenefiting from the remarkable discussions it fosteredwith intimate friends or loved ones. While there's been noquestion about their feelings, these exchanges cleared upcertain unspoken tensions. Now that these are settled, you're realising just how on edge you were.

CANCERJune 21 - Jul y 21Being criticised is no fun. Knowing that, you're trying toavoid telling one particular individual how they're getting itwrong. But if you don't speak up soon, things will only getworse. Actually, it will be a relief. They know there's a

problem and will be glad to have it out in the open.

LEOJuly 22 - Aug 22If you're not entirely happy with certain arrangements, don't worry. While others are making it clear these are thefinal version, they're being unrealistic. Circumstances arebound to change, enough that you can raise yourconcerns then. What's more, this gives you a welcomeopportunity to reflect on your thinking and review yourpriorities.

VIRGOAug 23 - Sep 22Only now are you in a position to confront those whoweren't just demanding, they overstepped appropriateboundaries in several ways. Now that you have all thefacts you need, address each one of these issues one byone. Much as you'd like to criticise their manner, you'd onlyregret it.

LIBRASep 23 - Oct 22Tact is important. At the moment, however, it's far moreimportant that you ensure certain individuals understandexactly what's on your mind, and what you feel needs tobe discussed and dealt with. True, such frankness couldshake them up. Ignore these dilemmas, however, andthere'll soon be an even more serious upheaval.

SCORPIOOct 23 - Nov 22The time has come to change a few habits. You've beendefending these with ferocity, mostly because others havebeen telling you they need to go. So, of course, you'd justdug your heels in deeper. But now they'reinconveniencing you enough that your pride really mustbe sacrificed to practicality.

SAGITTARIUSNov 22 - 20 DecWhen first asked about your plans, you answeredquestions briefly. You had no time for l engthy exchangesand, as important, many details were still in transition. Now facts are clearer. And not only is it vital everybody beinformed, the resulting discussions will reveal issues youhadn't even realised needed to be dealt with.

CAPRICORNDec 21 - Jan 19It's been an amazingly informative week. However, thelearning process has proved as demanding as it's beenilluminating. Tempting as it is to turn those insights intoaction, pause for a few days. This isn't just about taking amuch-needed break. It also gives you a chance to reflecton what you've discovered.

AQUARIUSJan 20 - Feb 17Inspiration appears in many forms. Sometimes it'sobvious. You'll recognise a new idea or an unexpectedencounter as offering exactly what you need. But othersaren't nearly as easy to spot, which means you owe it toyourself to, at an absolute minimum, show interest in whoand what you come across.

PISCESFeb 18 - March 19Theoretically, the simple word 'no' is easy to say. At themoment, however, you're finding it terrifically difficult todiscuss situations in which you know certain individualswill be disappointed. Actually, they already sensesomething has gone wrong, and the lack of solid factsfrom you is making them more upset by the day.

Singapore billionaire Peter Lim,who failed in an earlier bid tobuy Liverpool FC, is prepared toimprove his offer for thePremier League club.

"Peter has written a letterto the Liverpool board... he isprepared to make an improvedoffer," Lim's spokesperson said.

She added that Lim, whom a d e h i s f o r t u n e f r o mstockbroking, was the unnamedAsian party who had earlier madean offer for the English soccer clubworth 300 million pounds but lostout to a similar-sized bid from US-based New England SportsVentures, the owner of the BostonRed Sox baseball team.

The beleaguered

Merseyside club, whoseprotracted sale has dominatedheadlines since they were put onthe market in April, will attend theHigh Court in London on Tuesdayw h e n c h a i r m a n M a r t i nBroughton's power to agree to thesale of the club will be examined.

Much-criticised American

owners Tom Hicks and GeorgeGillett, who stand to lose some140 million pounds if the deal goesthrough, will argue that Broughtondoes not have such power, potentially leaving the club withouta buyer and reigniting the dangerof administration and a nine-pointpenalty in the league.

According to Forbesmagazine, Lim is Singapore'seighth richest man with a fortune

estimated at $1.6 billion. He is a large shareholder inSingapore-listed Wilmar, theworld's largest palm oil firm, andSingapore fashion retailer FJBenjamin.

Meanwhile, Broughton hassaid he is confident the deal withNESV will remain intact after the

court hearing.Liverpool's board agreed tosell the club to NESV for 300 millionpounds last week - a deal whichhas the support of the club's majorcreditor Royal Bank of Scotland(RBS) but, according to Hicks andGillett, vastly undervalues the club.

T h e p r o p o s e d d e a lincludes 200 million pounds incash to repay all acquisition debtand taking on additional workingcapital debts and other liabilities.

If Broughton's legal adviceis correct Liverpool fans can expectthe sale to go through quickly, though Hicks and Gillett could

appeal, and the October 15 loanrepayment deadline RBS put inplace would be met.

If the court decides infavour of the American duo, theclub would again find themselvesin a race to find suitable owners butthis time with just days to sparebefore RBS could call in its debtsand administration proceedingsbegan.

ALL ABOUT BALIMYTH OF BALI

Manuscript RajapuranaExplains the origin of

Besakih Temple. The name ofBesakih temple of Bali has probablypenet ra t ing beyond tour i smbibliography and the world Hindu

society. But when and how Besakihtemple was first constructed, no oneknown exactly. Many source claim toknow and describe the templeexistence in the vague of the formalrecord from the kingdom. It is a pitythat kings as far as back to 9thcentury did not leave a systematicrecord on the temple. To mention oneof the manuscript that claim to knowand explain about Besakih temple ofBali is Rajapurana.

The short account is asfollows : A priest named SangMarkandeya did a hermitage atDieng hill in central java. Due to thetrouble given by invisible being thenhe left Dieng and chose to make hishermitage at Mt. Raung, east Java.In his concentration he saw light andmountain chain from west to east, with the highest peak, that wasmount Agung. According to the voicefrom the sky he can own the areawhich north and southern sides ofthe mountain range were densetropical forest with fertile land. Nearthe place of his hermitage at MountRaung there was already civilizedvillage which population is called the"Aga". After the priest explainedabout the new and promising landthe people asked him to head to the

new land and departed with 8.000members. Arriving at certain place inBali the priest asked his people toclear out the land by cutting big trees,s h r u b s , a n d o t h e r p l a n t s .Unfortunately many of the membersmeet dangerous situation evencausing death such as scratched bytiger, killed by big snakes and thefever. The priest feel that theircoming to Bali would not be success, and he asked his people to stop

work i ng . T he p r i es treturned to Mount Raung andmade a hermitage again. In hiscontemplation he revealed that theisland of Bali is very strongly keptby magic force. Knowing this thepriest back again to Bali, now with4.000 new followers. Arriving at theprev ious p lace where themembers now meet the priestgroup, the priest headed on to eastBali and climb up to the foot of

Mount Agung. Here the priestmade a hermitage and got theinspiration to implant the 5 metalsor called "Panca Datu". Then thisplace is known as Besakih. Furtherthe manuscript describes that aclan of Bali called Manik Angkeranas the family that hold the right asthe cleaner and staff for the templeof Besakih in Bali. The clan ofManik Angkeran which is not clearnow in Bali whether it can begrouped as Brahmana, orKesatrya or others. It is said thatthe name of Besakih come fromBasukih, a serpent live in a cave on

the foot of Mt. Agung.A priest from Java, EmpuSidhimantra was in good relationwith the serpent, the priest visitedher every full moon. One upon atime the priest was sick, and heasked her son to come to Balimeeting the serpent which wassaid "Naga Basukih". The son ofpriest name is Manik Angkeran ahard gambler, and so oftenneglecting his duty. After a briefadvise of religious ethic the priest

let his son departing toBali and Manik Angkeran arrivein Bali at a place called Tolangkirto offer the serpent the meal asalways done by the priest. YetManik Angkeran meeting the

serpent asking the charm forwinning the gambling theserpent blessed his request, andlet him back to Majapahit in Java.Manik Angkeran asked theserpent back first to its cave, andafter half of serpent entering thecave he saw the tail withdiamond, he then arose hisgreediness to take the diamond, and cut the tail of the serpent andrun away. With the magic powerof the serpent Manik Angkerancatched up and burnt. EmpuSidimantra got omen on his longtime un-returned son, andheaded to Bali meeting theserpent. He got the explanationof what was happened. Thepriest recovered the tail of theserpent without trace of injury, and bring his son to alive again. At last the priest give the serpenthis son as the person to lookafter the temple and have theright to conduct the ceremony atBesakih.

The priest then return toJava, and in order his son cannot leave Bali to Java he strokehis cane to form the barrier. Thisburies is a narrow sea called"Segara rupet" of Bali strait. This

is the story mentioned on themanuscript, which not conformwith the fact of history and someevents mentioned are beyondour reason to understand. Thereare many manuscript which havethe same character wi thRajapurana, and for Balinese it isnever questioned. For historiansindeed this story is far fromconstructive information on thecultural history of Bali.

Shrewd Suns win big in trade week

Gold Coast has again proved ashrewd operator in AFL tradeweek, effectively double-dippinginto its draft concession rules.

First, the Suns were able to

recruit eight uncontractedplayers from rival clubs, withGeelong's Gary Ablett the biggestcatch.

In turn, each club that losta player to the Suns received draftcompensation.

But now the Suns haveused trade week to regain three of

those compensation picks, whichthey can use at any time until2014.

The last of the 21 dealsconfirmed in trade week involvedGold Coast gaining one of the twocompensation picks that the Catsreceived for losing Ablett.

That means Geelong'sfirst draft pick next month willcome at number 15, not 23, whilethe Suns have a mid-first rounddraft pick that they can use in thefuture.

Gold Coast also gainedBrisbane's pick at the end of thefirst round that the Lions had

received for losing Jared Brennan, and Richmond's round-twocompensation pick for NathanKrakouer.

The Suns were prolific anddeliberate players in their firsttrade week and list manager ScottClayton was delighted with theresults.

"Certainly we set out touse our establishment rules to ouradvantage and clearly we'veinvested some of that currency inthe future, that was the plan," hesaid.

"I'm really excited about

what we've done for the future. We've come away with somecompensation picks we're goingto use two and three years downthe track.

"It's win-win there (theAblett pick), they get in at pick 15and by the time we use thecompensation pick, they mighthave 40-50 games into a youngplayer."

Clayton said the Sunswould probably have 10 picks in

eight of them coming inthe first round.

He said the Suns neededhealthy concessions before theirdebut season if they were to becompetitive.

"I suppose we lived them(the concession rules) more thanother clubs - they were all aware

of them, but we've been living thisfor 18 months," he said."So we've been very

planned on what we're going todo. The rule-makers have done agreat job to give us a chance to puttogether a team ... that's going tobe credible.

"We needed this sort ofresult."

O t h e r n o t a b l edevelopments at the end of tradeweek:

* C o l l i n g w o o d a n dFremantle completed a deal thatbrings Chris Tarrant back to theMagpies.

* The Western Bulldogsand Brisbane confirmed thatJustin Sherman will join the Dogsin return for the Jarrod Harbrowcompensation pick.

* Geelong traded youngdefender Jeremy Laidler toCarlton for draft picks.

* Melbourne defenderKyle Cheney is headed toHawthorn.

* North Melbourne gaveup a second-round pick, number35, for North Ballarat utilityCameron Richardson, who waspre-listed to Gold Coast.

* Andrew Walker stays atCarlton, Josh Hill remains at theBulldogs and there was also notrade for Port Adelaide forwardDaniel Motlop.

* Essendon's BacharHouli wanted to go to Richmond, but the two clubs could not agreeon a deal. The Tigers remainconfident they will be able to drafthim.

despite being put to thesword by Sachin Tendulkaron day three.

The man theycall "the Little Master"marched the Indians to5 for 435 at the close, only 43 runs shy ofAustralia's first innings478.

T h e t o u r i s t s

have generally foughtwell in the field duringthis series but they werea long way short of theirbest on the third day atthe M ChinnaswamyStadium, allowing thepeerless Tendulkar(191 not out) and hisyoung accompl i ceMurali Vijay (139) todominate.Tendulkar and Vijay

added 308 in all, a stand thatwas India's third highest

hopes of levelling theseries.

Johnson, however,remains optimistic.

"We'll be pushing ashard as we can and like I said inMohali we're looking to winTest matches," Johnson said.

"We saw there were afew that stayed low, and acouple that jumped off thewicket as well, and there wastalk of this wicket about how it

"I'm confident we can gothere and push really hard toknock them over, then

obviously we've got to batreally well and then just reallyfight hard on that last day to win

"It is not something thatwill be dismissed as the 'heat ofthe moment' on the field or 'left

The NRL has decided there isi n su f f i c i e n t e v i d e n ce topursue with investigationsin to whether S t GeorgeIllawarra's Dean Young r aciallyvilified Wests Tigers captainRobbie Farah in last month'spreliminary final.

The same decision was

reached by the match reviewcommittee in the days followingthe final on September 25, butthe NRL opted to look into theincident further as part of its pushto stamp out racism in the game.

Farah alleged during thematch that a racial slur had beenmade, however he and the Tigersclub refused to make a formalcomplaint in relation to the matterboth on and off the field.

"The NRL has since lookedat every aspect of this issue and

received statements fromthe St George Illawarra club inwhich Dean Young has stronglydenied the claims," NRL chiefoperating officer GrahamAnnesley said.

"We have determinedthat there remains insufficientevidence to take any furtheraction in relation to this matter.

All Blacks Test no dead rubber: Genia

Wallabies half-back Wil lGenia denied Australia'sOctober 30 Test against NewZealand in Hong Kong isbe ing t hough t o f as apractice match.

Even with hopes ofwinning the Bledisloe Cupdashed for another year, theclassy number nine declared

the Australians will not be usingit merely as a preparation gamefor next month's Spring Tour ofEurope and next year's WorldCup.

Coach Robbie Deans'systems are al l workingtowards the 2011 Cup in NewZealand, but that does notmean a Test against the AllBlacks is not being treated asanything but do-or-die.

"No way, it's anotherTest match," Genia said.

"You never take them

lightly, it's not a stepping stoneto another Test match oranother tour, it's what we'repreparing for.

"You hear Robbie andthe coaches constantly sayingthis is New Zealand, there'sbeen no mention of England orWales or any other team.

"New Zealand is the firstgame and that's what we're

focusingon."

"Def in i te ly, i tfeels like a new groupt h a t ' s g a t h e r e dtogether," he said.

"We're trying tobuild on what we'veachieved in the Tri-Nations and I'm reallyexcited going forward.

"As a g r o u pwe've got an idea ofwhat we're going to fixup on and ... we'redefinitely attending tothose things in ourtraining sessions.

"You take threeweeks off, you reflectback on the tournamentitself and you look atthings you can improveon. It's easier whenyou've taken a stepback as opposed tobeing in the heat of themoment trying to makeimprovements and
