Newsletter 1 KOMFORT KRUISERS Mar. 2016 Bakersfield RV Resort Thursdays arrivals were met with greetings and hugs. We all headed our separate ways for dinner. Some went to the Crest (in the park) where they waited an hour for their food.. Others went to the Crystal Palace where they were witness to an engagement by a soldier shipping out soon, plus entertainment. The last group went to Chateau Basque and were served family style, and yes most of us tried the tongue!! Friday morning we met in the clubhouse for breakfast and a chance to admire the decorations. Afterwards we went our separate ways. I hope you had a chance to go to the old Woolworths counter and have lunch. The building is now an antique store but the counter is still there. We met for appetizers and conversation that night. Saturday saw us up bright and early and heading to the clubhouse for breakfast and our meeting. We were introduced to Bud Parish, and the Ibarra’s grandkids, Kailyn and Brady. Sue Osgood was voted in as a new member. Saturday night saw us in our finest (pj’s that is) to enjoy pizza, salad and sundaes. A pillow fight was the game to be in. It started out quite civilized but quickly became a free for all. Did I mention the pillows were huge marshmellows? Toss the marshmellow in the pillow case was next and no they were’nt the huge ones but the regular size one. The winners of the best pj’s were: Wayne for the men and Maryn for the women. The table decorations were so cute. They were beds with the faces of some of our members on the pillows. Sunday breakfast was very eclectic. We enjoyed the left overs from the weekend. Pizza for breakfast. YUM. There was a lot of discussion of the weather and the winds. back that it was fine on the Grapevine and others left. Those that stayed went to the Crest for dinner and it was another long wait. Monday morning was another day of should I go or should I stay. Those who left had a little bit of rain and just a tad of snow. But the ones who stayed had already paid for that night. Some of the ladies had their hair done by Eileen while others watched. That motorhome smelled like a French bordello at one point. Whew. Dinner was at the Crest again. Tuesday over the Grapevine there was no wind and no rain. We just had a huge gust before Gorman but that was all we had. A big thanks to the Wagon Masters for a great weekend. Great food and lots of fun. A special tip of the hat to Jim for his pj’s Saturday night. THIS AND THAT Congrats to Trish for winning three mahjong games. It was the first time she played. In golf I’m sorry to report that Jeff and Trish lost, but the good new is Jeff has as new “schwing”. I understand it’s a great “schwing”. He just needs to put some distance with it. Jeff will be collecting from Bill as he had to make a pick up for him from Hertz Rental Car. In Pinochle news the girls won. I told you about that worm turning right!! Editors: Terry & Ruth Wood

Email sent to Jeff from Sharon Canfield

Larry Lee Canfield – May 19, 1941 – February 27, 2016 (age 74). Facebook is kind of beating me to the

punch in notifying everyone that Larry passed away on Saturday night, February 27, at 8:00 pm. Larry’s

journey with Lewy Body Dementia started in 2004 and has been progressing slowly until his journey

ended yesterday. Larry’s condition hadn’t changed significantly for many years but in late January

2016 he developed symptoms of what we first thought was pneumonia. We later found out it was a

cranial bleed in his brain stem cavity (probably from Coumadin) and the hospital gave him zero chance

of survival beyond 4 days. He came home with hospice and lasted 36 days with no food or water

before he passed quietly in his sleep. I can say that I have loved him dearly for the 46 years we’ve been

married (and probably a couple of years before that). I’ve fought hard to keep him with me, with the

help of many doctors, medical practitioners and natural healing professionals. I guess I just lost the

fight. He was never in pain but has always been loved. Thanks to all of you who have prayed for him

and offered support; I know it all helped. Larry will be cremated and his ashes sprinkled in the ocean. I

will get word out when his Celebration of Life is planned (probably 2-4 weeks). Our love to all of you

and I hope to see you soon.

Love,

Sharon

Tech Topics During our March meeting, two products were recommended by our members. As I recall (with the help of my wife, Ruth), Jim Riha recommended the RV Park Outlet Tester. And Jack Kiely who owns one let me take the picture to the left. The 50 amp Power Pal is an RV Park Electrical Outlet Tester. The instrument is a hand held tester designed to test the 50 amp outlet before you plug in your RV. In seconds the tester will indicate in CLEAR VOICE OUTPUT and a BRIGHT LED LIGHT one of the following conditions: Faulty Ground or Neutral Open Hot Wire Line 1 Open Hot Wire Line 2 Breaker Thrown or Off Reverse Polarity Line 1 Reverse Polarity Line 2 Correct OK to Connect For additional info check the website: http://50amppowerpal.com/ The second product, a battery additive, was recommend by Jack Chatenever (I think). The picture to the left was provided by Gary Huff. The product is also available in a 32 ounce container. Charge-It is the only patented battery additive available. Guaranteed to restore, improve and prolong the life and performance of batteries. Usage Guide: 2 oz. treats one automotive battery or 2 oz for every half gallon of electrolyte.

Ruth’s Ramblings You know what I like about people?......... Their pets I told you that I do not have Alzheimers, I have “sometimers”. Sometimes I remember and sometimes I don’t!! I just stepped on a corn flake. Now I’m officially a cereal killer.

Submitted by Gary Huff 11/17/15 A Boy from Arkansas A young Arkie goes off to college. Half way through the semester, having foolishly squandered all of his money on his girlfriend, he calls home. "Dad," he says, "You won't believe what modern education is developing! They actually have a program here at Hendrix that will teach our dog, Ole' Blue how to talk!" "That's amazing," his Dad says. "How do I get Ole' Blue in that program?" "Just send him over here with $1,000" the young Arkie says "and I'll get him in the course." So, his Father sends the dog and $1,000. About two-thirds of the way through the semester, the money again runs out. The boy calls home. "So how's Ole' Blue doing son?" his Father asks. "Awesome, Dad, he's talking up a storm," he says, "but you just won't believe this -- they've had such good results they have started to teach the animals how to read!" "Read!?" says his Father, "No kidding! How do we get Blue in that program?" "Just send $2,500, I'll get him in the class." The money promptly arrives. The Arkie and his girlfriend are able to buy enough marijuana to last the whole semester. But our hero has a problem. At the end of the year, his Father will find out the dog can neither talk, nor read. Even though he was always pretty much able to lie his way out of trouble, the Arkie asked his girlfriend to help him think of a really good lie to tell his Dad. She very quickly came up with a plan for him. So she has him shoot the dog. When he arrives home at the end of the year, his Father is all excited. "Where's Ole' Blue? I just can't wait to see him read something and talk!" "Dad," the boy says, "I have some grim news. Yesterday morning, just before we left to drive home, Ole' Blue was in the living room, kicked back in the recliner, reading the Wall Street Journal, like he usually does". "Then Ole' Blue turned to me and asked, so, is your Daddy still messing around with that little redhead who lives down the street?"

The Father went white and exclaimed, "I hope you shot that lying damn dog before he talks to your Mother!" "I sure did, Dad!" "That's my boy!" The kid married his girlfriend, they both went on to law school at YALE , he became Governor of Arkansas and President of the United States, and you already know what a lying bitch his girlfriend turned out to be!
