Dear Knights and Ladies,

This month as we conclude our Lenten observance and move into Holy Week, the Church presents

us with special opportunities, including the Triduum Services – Mass of the Last Supper on Thursday even-

ing, the Good Friday Service at 3:00 and Stations of the Cross at 7:00, the blessing of Easter Foods at noon

on Holy Saturday, the Easter Vigil Mass at 8 p.m., and the Easter morning masses, beginning at 6:30 on

our field. The Vigil Mass on Saturday evening summarizes our Biblical History, beginning with the light-

ing of our new Easter Candle, the Old and New Testament readings and psalms, the Gospel and homily,

and concludes with the Baptisms, Confirmations, and First Communions for our elect from the RCIA pro-

gram. It is truly an exciting evening, and if you have never attended, you owe it to yourself to take the two

hours and enjoy it. It will be well worth your time. The excitement and smiles of our new Catholics and

sponsors tell it all!

Easter is the great feast that gives us hope. Like the twelve apostles who’s faith was shaken by the

Good Friday experience, but restored on Easter night with Jesus’ appearance to them in the upper room.

Jesus had forewarned them of his coming passion and death, but they neither “saw” nor understood what

He was talking about. Even in secular news accounts, the eyewitnesses often disagree. Each witness or

reporter observes an event from a different point of view.

On that first Easter morning, what might Jesus' friends and disciples have seen or heard? We know

that when Mary Magdalen first saw the risen Lord she thought him to be the gardener. When the apostles

first saw Him on Easter night, they thought Him to be a ghost, until he asked them for something to eat.

When two of Jesus' disciples were walking to Emmaus, they "saw" and "heard" one whom they did

not recognize, but who set their hearts on fire. While Jesus' physical appearance after His resurrection may

have changed somewhat, the perspectives of his followers had changed substantially. It was only when

they began to "see" and "hear" with the eyes and ears of faith that they could recognize and experience the

risen Lord.

Easter is also the great feast of Faith and love, without which we might "see" rituals, ceremonies,

vestments, and floral arrangements, while missing the glorious presence of the risen Christ. Just as Jesus

triumphed over sin and death, the same victory is assured to us in union with Him.

With open minds and hearts, we pray for the graces necessary to "see" and to "hear" the risen Christ

in our daily lives. Also, we pray for perseverance in the renewed life that we have received.

May we go forth with confidence, knowing that we are loved!

Father Steve Baumann, Chaplain.

Remember that we are still in the Season of Lent. We are also in the midst of 40 Days for Life. This year 40 Days for Life has daily prayers at Life Choices Medical Center which is the pregnancy cen-ter next to All Women’s (abortion) Center on Maitland Ave. You can find someone there at almost any time of the day who is praying the rosary. Try it. It is a very satisfying experience. It was great to see so many Knights and their families at the Laps for life event on March 30 at Bishop Moore High School. This annu-al event raises money to buy ultrasound machines for local pregnan-cy centers like Life Choices Medical Center, JMJ Pregnancy Center and other pregnancy centers. These machines provide a great ser-vice to these pregnancy centers. When a lady who is pregnant sees a picture of the baby on the ultrasound machine over 80% of those ladies choose life for the baby. These are women that had already planned to abort the child. It is one of the best tools a pregnancy center has in its tool bag. By the way, if you haven’t seen the movie “Unplanned” you are missing a great movie. It is a great movie with a powerful mes-sage. It shows how Planned Parenthood treats women who choose to use their services.

My brother Knights.

Have you ever been told or heard in your life, “tell me who you hang out with and I’ll tell you who you are?” Pope Francis said, “we are all called to smell like the sheep.” That’s a sobering thought. I also heard that “if you expect to soar with the eagles, don’t run with turkeys.”

We in the Knights of Columbus are blessed and privileged to be part of an exclusive organization. You must be over the age of 18. Easy peasy there. But you must also be a Practical Catholic. We are called to have an open heart for forgiveness. That’s a big subject for this brief missive. Let me tackle one thing. We are all prodigal sons. You say, “what?” I didn’t take my inheritance in advance and then squander it. OK. But are you carrying a grudge? Are you harboring anger or animosity against a brother knight or even a friend or family member?

Being a good Catholic (Christian) means being able to forgive as the father in the Prodigal son did when the son returned. I’ve heard that story described as the “forgiving father.” Read that very moving parable and ask yourself, “how am I doing on this subject?” Forgiveness is not an easy decision. Often times, even against our human nature. Hang with your brother Knights. Bring your concerns and foibles with you and find the love and respect we have for each other as Christ has for us. He forgave us all. Now it’s your turn. Vivat Jesus. Carmine M. Bravo Advocate Annunciation Council 12761 District Deputy 24

Dear Brothers Knights

Have You Insured Your Most Valuable Asset?

Is your income protected if you become sick or injured and cannot work?

Your ability to work and earn an income is your most valuable asset. Yet a disa-

bility could prevent you from earning that income. Just one year of a disability

could eliminate your savings.

Income Armor, an individual disability income insurance product from the

Knights of Columbus, should be a key part of your overall financial plan and

family’s protection.

If you are ill or injured, Income Armor provides tax-free monthly benefits to

help you meet living expenses and maintain you and your family’s standard of

living. Your monthly benefits help you pay your mortgage and other monthly

bills, while your savings and retirement assets remain intact.

In short, if you have a job and don’t have a way to protect that paycheck, you

should seriously consider Income Armor today. I look forward to meeting with

you.

Vivat Jesus,

Carlos J. Sacasa
