IMMIGRANT NATION! THE BATTLE FOR A DREAM is a feature documentary film about the modern immigrant rights movement. In particular, it is the story of the struggle of Elvira Arellano, a single mother from Chicago, who fought her deporta-tion. The film also interweaves the stories of individuals, organi-zations, activists and community leaders united by passion and a concern for justice. This film illustrates the opposition to the controversial HR4437 immigration bill as well as the ongoing struggle and demand for comprehensive immigration reform. Airs Monday, September 19 at 9 pm

CRUZ REYNOSO: SOWING THE SEEDS OF JUSTICE paints a portrait of a man touched by injustice as a child who dedicated his life to fighting discrimination and inequality as a lawyer, judge and teacher. The compelling biography, told through a combination of archival footage and interviews, charts Cruz Reynoso’s humble origins, his appointment to the California Supreme Court (the first Latino justice to serve in the state’s high-est court) and more recently, his leadership on the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. Airs Sunday September 18 at 9 pm

This historical documentary examines what was known as the Bracero Program-a system put in place from 1942 to 1964 to recruit Mexican farm laborers for temporary work in the United States. HARVEST OF LONELINESS presents ample testimony from surviv-ing braceros as well as family members and descen-dants of these displaced workers, who typically went north expecting not just high wages but also humane treatment and working conditions-expectations that were rarely if ever met. Airs Sunday, September 25 at 10 pm

MEXICO: THE ROYAL TOUR is a groundbreaking special, pro-duced and hosted by Peter Greenberg that will showcase Mexico in a way no visitor has ever seen the country before - through the eyes of its leader. In a personal tour led by President Felipe Calderón, Mexico: The Royal Tour goes beyond the headlines to journey deep inside Mexico and offer viewers access to extraordinary locations, landmarks and cultural experiences. Mexico: The Royal Tour is a fast-paced, non-stop adventure through Mexico’s iconic spots as well as experiences that aren’t found in any guidebook, but are still accessible to travelers. Narrated by Garrison Keillor, THE HAYLOFT GANG: THE STORY OF THE NATIONAL BARN DANCE tells the story of a changing America through the lens of one of the nation’s most popular country music radio shows during the 1930s and 40s: the National Barn Dance. The film weaves rare performance footage, home movies, and can-did photographs with first-hand accounts from fans and perform-

ers. In addition, interviews with historians, folklorists, and media experts reveal historical and cultural perspectives on the story. Airs Friday, September 2 at 8 pm

MASTERPIECE MYSTERY! INSPECTOR LEWIS IV - Kevin Whately returns as Inspector Lewis teamed with his cool, cerebral partner, Detective Sergeant Hathaway (Laurence Fox). Lewis, the former working-class foil to the erudite Detective Inspector Morse, tackles murder and mayhem with the help of Hathaway. Series begins airing Wednesday, September 7 at 9 pm. and Saturday, September 10 at 11 pm

LOCKED OUT - In the wind-swept sands of California’s Mojave Desert sits a small town called Boron, population 2000. It is home to one of the largest borate mines in the world. The mine is owned by Rio Tinto, a British-American multinational company, whose net earnings in 2009 were nearly $5 billion. Rio Tinto has faced lawsuits in communities around the world over its anti-labor practices and its pollution of those communities. In the fall of 2009, when the Boron miners’ contract expired, Rio Tinto decided to drastically cut the miners’ pay and benefits. The workers voted to strike and the company retaliated by locking out the workers, and for 107 days the miners and their families stood up to Rio Tinto. Airs Tuesday, September 27 at 8 pm

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS TOWN HALL MEETING - A live, hour long program featuring a 20-minute emergency preparedness video followed by a panel discussion with local emergency management representatives from the LAUSD, City of Los Angeles, and LA County. The program will take live calls and emails from the viewing audience. Airs Tuesday, September 29 at 7 pm

The earthquake that hit the northern coast of Japan on March 11, 2011 was recorded at magnitude 9.0, the worst ever to strike Ja-pan. It generated an unprecedented tsunami, obliterating coastal villages and towns in a matter of minutes. Amazingly, amateur and professional photographers captured it all on video; including remarkable tales of human survival, as ordinary citizens became heroes in a drama they never could have imagined. These never-before-seen stories are captured in video and retold after-the-fact by the sur-vivors who reveal what they were thinking as they made their life-saving decisions. Their stories provide lessons in survival and how we should all act in the face of life threatening disasters. SURVIVING THE TSUNAMI: A NOVA SPECIAL PRESENTATION airs Thursday, September 29 at 9 pm

It’s every collector’s dream: turning a modest outlay into a staggeringly high return on investment. ANTIQUES ROADSHOW – JACKPOT ROLLS the dice on those heady moments when luck smiles on flea market mavens and yard sale savants. This special recalls such spectacular windfalls as a landscape painting acquired for $1.50 at a Salvation Army “half price” sale and valued at $10,000 to $15,000; an art pottery vase, grabbed at a garage sale for less than five dollars and estimated to be worth $13,000 to $17,000; a 19th-century album of watercolor paintings, scooped up at a yard sale for a quarter, with an estimated value of $20,000 to $30,000; and a 1951 Minneapolis Millers baseball uniform worn by Willie Mays, scored at a sports collectibles show for $50 and valued at $60,000 to $80,000. Airs Friday, September 23 at 7 pm and Sunday, September 25 at 8 pm

CRUZ REYNOSO: SOWING THE SEEDS OF JUSTICE paints a portrait of a man touched by injustice as a child who dedi-cated his life to fighting discrimination and in-equality as a lawyer, judge and teacher. The compelling biography, told through a com-bination of archival footage and interviews, charts Cruz Reynoso’s humble origins, his appointment to the California Supreme Court (the first Latino justice to serve in the state’s highest court) and more recently, his leader-ship on the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. It’s every collector’s dream: turning a mod-est outlay into a staggeringly high return on investment. ANTIQUES ROADSHOW – JACKPOT ROLLS the dice on those heady moments when luck smiles on flea market mavens and yard sale savants. This special recalls such spectacular windfalls as a landscape painting acquired for $1.50 at a Salvation Army “half price” sale and valued at $10,000 to $15,000; an art pottery vase, grabbed at a garage sale for less than five dollars and estimated to be worth $13,000 to $17,000; a 19th-century album of watercolor paintings, scooped up at a yard sale for a quarter, with an estimated value of $20,000 to $30,000; and a 1951 Minneapolis Mill-ers baseball uniform worn by Willie Mays, scored at a sports collectibles show for $50 and valued at $60,000 to $80,000. This historical documentary examines what was known as the Bracero Program-a sys-tem put in place from 1942 to 1964 to recruit Mexican farm laborers for temporary work in the United States. HARVEST OF LONE-LINESS presents ample testimony from surviving braceros as well as family mem-bers and descendants of these displaced workers, who typically went north expecting not just high wages but also humane treat-ment and working conditions-expectations that were rarely if ever met.

The earthquake that hit the northern coast of Japan on March 11, 2011 was recorded at magnitude 9.0, the worst ever to strike Japan. It generated an unprecedented tsu-nami, obliterating coastal villages and towns in a matter of minutes. Amazingly, amateur and professional photographers captured it all on video; including remarkable tales of human survival, as ordinary citizens became heroes in a drama they never could have imagined. These never-before-seen stories are captured in video and retold after-the-fact by the survivors who reveal what they were thinking as they made their life-saving decisions. Their stories provide lessons in survival and how we should all act in the face of life threatening disasters. SURVIVING THE TSUNAMI: A NOVA SPECIAL PRE-SENTATION airs Thursday, September 29 at 9 pm
