Please note that in some schools where there are more
than one kindergarten class, KAP will be offered in both
morning and afternoon.
Programming occurs within our schools. Depending
on the school size and size of class, the KAP
program is either in the Kindergarten classroom or
in an alternate classroom within the school.
Provides students in kindergarten with extended day (full day)
programming. Students spend half of their day with their
kindergarten teacher and the other half of the day with their
early childhood educator. When the class size is more than 15, an
assistant is hired to support the learning of the group.
The KAP program uses a ‘whole child’ approach.
The programing gives students opportunities to in-
crease their physical well-being, social skills, emo-
tional growth, language and thinking skills, commu-
nication skills and general knowledge.
The KAP program is provided free of charge to stu-
dents/families. It is funded by school division funds
and an Early Childhood Initiative Grant from
Manitoba Education.
Our program is optional, however the majority of
our kindergarten students’ families have chosen to
participate.
Enhancing Early Childhood Education is a priority for the SRSD
Board of Trustees. Research tells us that learning in the early years
sets a foundation for all later learning.
All board priorities can be found on our website @ http://
www.srsd.ca/Governance/Documents/Priorities%202016-2019.pdf.
Kids at Play (KAP)
KAP
KAP is an extended day kindergarten program in the Seine River School Division. Students are provided
with rich learning experiences by an Early Childhood Educator who incorporates developmentally
appropriate practices which complement our Kindergarten Program.
Developmentally appropriate practice is child-centered and uses play based learning as its foundation.
