BSBPA Board News: BSBPA Secretary Sandy Hassfurter (Berkshire Hathaway Home Services/Blake Realtor) has been named Ambassador of the Year by the Chamber of Southern Sara-toga County. Sandy was recognized for representing the chamber "with the utmost dig-nity, professionalism and esteem. Her cheerful demeanor is ideal in providing hospitality at events and ensuring all guests feel welcomed and valued". Sandy is the BSBPA's chair of Networking Breakfasts/Mixers and Ribbon Cuttings, so we can certainly attest to that very fact. We are so lucky to have Sandy on our team as well!

Work-Based Learning Program—Partners Wanted!

Ballston Spa High School offers students the opportu-

nity to earn a certificate in workplace readiness through the

Work-Based Learning (WBL) Program. WBL provides students

with hands-on opportunities that develop employability skills in

real world settings so that they are prepared to enter the work-

force upon graduation.

WBL Program Coordinator Sharon Poole is looking to

partner with real employers willing to provide real work experi-

ences during which students can learn and practice their work

skills. WBL benefits students by giving them an environment to

apply classroom learning to the workplace, allow for career ex-

ploration, increase motivation to stay in school, increase techni-

cal skills, promote positive work habits, understand workplace

expectations and enhance general workplace competencies such

as communication, teamwork, time management, work ethic,

initiative and project planning. WBL also establishes a connec-

tion between professionals and educators, fostering positive

relationships between school and business communities, while

giving essential work skills training to prospective workers.

Students are supervised by a trained Job Coach or coor-

dinator and are covered by BSCSD liability Insurance.

Please consider becoming a partner in WBL. Contact Sharon

Poole ([email protected], 518 470-3872) to arrange for a per-

sonal presentation and see how your business can participate.
