“Fueling a Cure”CAPITAL REGION – John Ray & Sons’ Fueling a Cure pro-gram ended its third year with a recent check presentation in the amount of $13,811.33 to the Northeastern New York Af-fi liate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure(r). The amount rep-resents the number of gallons of fuel (over 1.3 million) the company’s Pink Truck (painted in Komen’s signature color) delivered from October 2010 through September 2011. Similar to a moving billboard, the Pink Truck is designed to promote breast cancer awareness throughout the greater Capital Region and to raise funds for education, screenings and treatment in local area communities. Since its inception in 2008, the pro-gram has raised a total of $41,848.54 for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. John Ray & Sons also conducted a “Spot the Pink Truck” contest to further promote breast cancer awareness. The participants were entered into a random drawing for a NY Gi-ants gas grill. Glenn Young, General Manager of John Ray & Sons announced the winner of the contest as Vince Sfara of Cropseyville. (P)

Community Giving FairSARATOGA SPRINGS – In an effort to teach young people about the importance and value of local and global community giving, Youth2- Youth Helping Youth will be hosting its third annual Community Giving Fair on Sat., November 19, 10am-3pm, at the United Methodist Church, 175 Fifth Ave, Saratoga Springs. Walking side by side with your child, the alternative holiday market will provide shoppers the opportunity to make donations to their favorite community organization. You can give a fi nancial contribution or have your child donate in-kind items such as a blanket to the Backstretch Employee Service Team or socks for the Domestic Violence shelter. Food PantryBALLSTON SPA – The Ballston Spa United Methodist Church provides a Food Pantry which is open on Wednesdays from 9:30-11:30am. Use of the Pantry has increased with the chal-lenging times, and donations are needed. Food donations can be dropped off at the Church House, 101 Milton Ave., Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 9am-12:30pm. Cash donations directed to the United Methodist Church and specifi ed “Food Pantry” are also welcome and allow us to purchase from the Regional Food Bank.
