W'rocking Wright – 1950’s Bash Saturday, June 22, 2013, 6:00 to 9:00pm is the big event and annual fund raiser.

Tickets: $10 (10 and over) $12 at the door. $5 (5 thru 9) $7 at the door. Food, Fun, Old Cars, Silent Auction, Dessert Auction and Games for all ages. Tickets are on sale following worship outside the social hall and available in the office during office hours. Come dressed in your best 50’s attire and we will all have a great time.

Calling all artists – please think about donating to our W’rocking Wright Fund Raiser silent auction. All items are welcome

Also, plan to donate a baked goodie (cookies, brownies, cakes, cupcakes, etc.) to our dessert auction. Yummy!

Notes from the Office for the Summer Schedule Summer is bringing some changes for us. Responding to the budget crunch and to keep us on a sound fiscal course, the Church Board agreed to reduce Rev. Brandt's time and compensation by 25% for June, July, and August.

To make this happen, we will have to make a few changes:

• Cynthia will cut her hours by 25%:

o She will be out of the pulpit one Sunday a month

o She will work one less business day

o She will still be available for emergencies

o She will be in the office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings

• We will have a single bulletin each month to cut down on production time:

o One bulletin will be reused from week to week

o An insert sheet will be used for announcements

• Robin will continue in the office on Tuesday through Thursday, 9:00 to noon and 1:00 to 3:00

Just in case you should ask: “Where is Robin?” The answer is – she will be on vacation from June 28 through July 9. While she is away, the office will only be open in the morning. If you would like to help out on the phone, give us a call and see what might need to be done. If you would like to help out with the custodial duties – all cleaning supplies are in the janitors closets located between the bathrooms.

We thank God for who we are, and what we have. We thank God for ourselves as individuals despite our imperfections. We thank God for our family, despite their imperfections. We thank God for our church despite its imperfections. We thank God for our country, despite its imperfections. We thank God for our world, despite its imperfections. We ask God to help us be gracious for what we have, and to help us be content and at peace. We ask God to help ourselves, our family, our church, our country, and our world to become as God envisions.

It takes all us to be our Church. Thank you to all who volunteer for the many tasks involved with our day to day operation of our Church. Do you have time to volunteer for lawn care, alter care, special music, outreach, community supper, or any of the various other areas? If there is something you would like to see done, just as in the old hymn, ask yourself “is it I Lord?” For those not able to do, it is enough that you simply worship.

Summer is upon us. Soon we will have our summer celebration. This year we are reaching back to the fifties, so dust off those glad rags. Tickets are now available. For those too young to remember the fifties, you can see how your parents, grandparents or great grandparents rocked it out with W'rocking Wright.

Our church is showing signs of renewal and regeneration. We want you to experience our reinvigoration. Know you, your family, and your friends are welcome at Wright.

Help Needed

Our food pantry needs to be restocked. Please donate non-perishable items and paper goods for those in need.

Don’t forget that Wright Church also collects: eye glasses, hearing aids, pull tabs, Campbell soup labels and Box Tops for Schools.

BUGS (Boise Urban Garden School) begins their summer programs June 10. They will be using the social hall for their book and art studies plus the kitchen for their culinary skills and of course they will be in the garden. The farm stand will be opening soon. Stay in touch for more details.

The Book club will meet on Thursday, June 6 for its annual poetry exchange. Each person is asked to bring one or two favorite poems to share. The meeting will be at 1:00 pm at the home of Ethel Farnsworth. (Please come to the back door.) Call 336-4883 for directions.

Pilgrim Cove Camp and Conference Center

The camp board met in May at Pilgrim Cove and they will be sending some ambassadors to the Idaho Conference Churches over the next month or so to generate support from the congregants for the camp. The youth camp will be held from July 21 –July 27. Women’s Retreat will be August 2, 3, 4, & 5.

Please consider sending your kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, neighbors to Youth Camp. Ladies please join us for the women’s retreat. There are partial scholarships available through the church.

st. The committee in

charge prepared a wonderful meal, which they served (no potluck and no lines.) It was all very first class. My thanks to Chairperson Ginny Trapp, along with Jane Eubanks and Maxine Palmer. Jane brought her lovely china cups and saucers and fixed beautiful herb center pieces. Diane Racine from the Idaho Athletic Club brought us some helpful exercises to do at home for balance and fitness. Thank you so much, ladies.

We received a lovely note from Ginny Neal on behalf of Boise First Ladies thanking us for an enjoyable afternoon.

We will not be meeting again until September 4th.

Central Bench Neighborhood Association Hosting Spring Fling

The annual spring fling will be Saturday, June 8 at Cassis Park. Local musicians, artists, food, fun, booths and many other events are planned. The fun begins at 11 am and is open to the public. Come out and meet and greet your neighbors.

Congratulations to Our Grads

Sierra Hunt has graduated from Mountain View High School.

Samantha Flaherty and Heather Watson have graduated from college. Here’s to a job well done.

Also congrats to Tyler Canning who scored in the 86 percentile and 99 percentile on the two tests for Mensa . He is now an official member.

Bible Study Beginning in June, we will gather in the Upper Room each Thursday morning at 10:00 am (this is a time change).

We will be laughing our way through a new book, Laugh Your Way To Grace, by Rev Susan Sparks. The book is available through Amazon or

Thank you to everyone who participated in our church survey. Below you will find a table giving the summary of the data that we gathered from the Congregation over the past month. It gives some demographic data about Wright Church.

Next there is a summary of the aspects of ministry for Wright Church that you feel are most important at this time. These are not listed in order of ranking.

Our leadership expectations (from our recent congregational survey), our church needs a person who…

• is an effective preacher/speaker • helps people develop their spiritual lives • is effective in planning and leading worship • ministers effectively to people in crisis situations • makes pastoral calls on people in hospitals and nursing homes and on those confined to their homes • is effective in working with children • works regularly at bringing new members into the church • reaches out to inactive members • is a person of faith • is effective in working with youth • encourages people to relate their faith to their daily lives • is a compassionate and caring person

The Search Committee continues to meet regularly. Right now we are finalizing the church profile and will be sending it off to the Conference Office. Jack writes, sings, and plays music that

reflects everything from his Mississippi

Gulf Coast and New Orleans

upbringing, his California stint, and

time in Idaho. Now his travel resume

includes South Korea where he is

teaching music at the Korea

International School outside of Seoul.

Jack's music bio includes small gigs in

coffeehouses and pizza places, choir

conducting at Boise First UCC, and

opening for Carol King.
