THE WRIGHT UPS NOVEMBER 2014 ISSUE Dear loved ones of Wright, Happy Thanksgiving month! This time of year we are called to celebrate gratitude. Our church has many things that should inspire our thanks. Most importantly our wonderful, loving and caring spirit. My short time here I have witnessed how this community supports each other in challenging times. When people have been ill folks have called, brought meals, and offered prayers. We have been there for one another through loss and uncertainty. The willingness to come together when life is hard is a blessing. Let us give thanks for such saintly behavior. I want to share gratitude for the first 5 months of ministry with Wright. I am grateful this is my first call. The church’s love and welcome have been genuine. There is an authentic openness to conversation and fellowship. The care I have seen folks have for one another is truly inspiring. There is also respect and a willingness to exchange ideas. We are also blessed with the energy and embrace of creativity. I am thankful for the many people who have preached, led worship, prayed, come to worship, contacted those in need, those who have cleaned our building, cooked, led small group projects, and the list goes on. My greatest gratitude for these Divine given gifts is their guidance and comfort. I know we have had concerns about our sustainability and future. I myself have asked daily how do we grow Wright? This becomes a scary question when you look at contemporary trends, and the shrinking of faith communities. Our love relieves my concerns. The energy and willingness many have shown has filled me with hope. Every time I witness it or it touches me I am filled with great optimism. We must take this gratitude and build. Let us be thankful. Let us also pray that we continue sharing the feast and love of life. We are not where we want to be, yet. We still seek growth in our music department, youth program, adult programs, and staff. The seeds are being sowed and the field tilled. The foundation is laid. This is reason to be thankful. It is also a reminder that we must continue our faithful work. The work continues as we complete our stewardship campaign on November 9, and gather for our all congregational meeting Nov. 30. CALL TO ALL--CONGREGATIONAL MEETINGNovember 23 This will be where we form the blueprint for our upcoming year. We will take a look at all the gifts we have offered during the stewardship campaign and throughout the year. We will also look at our dreams and hopes for the church. These will guide us to discuss and decide on how we focus our energy, ministry, and love over the next year. We will also discuss potential changes to the constitution and introduce officers. This is our faith in concrete action. Our love is our energy, and God, Christ and the Holy Spirit are our guides. Whatever we build, as long as love is our core, it will be a beautiful tribute to the God. THE WRIGHT UPS

September 2014 edition

NOVEMBER 2014 ISSUE

Dear loved ones of Wright,

Happy Thanksgiving month! This time of year we are called to celebrate gratitude. Our

church has many things that should inspire our thanks. Most importantly our wonderful, loving and

caring spirit. My short time here I have witnessed how this community supports each other in

challenging times. When people have been ill folks have called, brought meals, and offered

prayers. We have been there for one another through loss and uncertainty. The willingness to come

together when life is hard is a blessing. Let us give thanks for such saintly behavior.

I want to share gratitude for the first 5 months of ministry with Wright. I am grateful this is

my first call. The church’s love and welcome have been genuine. There is an authentic openness to

conversation and fellowship. The care I have seen folks have for one another is truly inspiring.

There is also respect and a willingness to exchange ideas. We are also blessed with the energy and

embrace of creativity. I am thankful for the many people who have preached, led worship, prayed,

come to worship, contacted those in need, those who have cleaned our building, cooked, led small

group projects, and the list goes on.

My greatest gratitude for these Divine given gifts is their guidance and comfort. I know we

have had concerns about our sustainability and future. I myself have asked daily how do we grow

Wright? This becomes a scary question when you look at contemporary trends, and the shrinking of

faith communities. Our love relieves my concerns. The energy and willingness many have shown

has filled me with hope. Every time I witness it or it touches me I am filled with great optimism.

We must take this gratitude and build. Let us be thankful. Let us also pray that we continue

sharing the feast and love of life. We are not where we want to be, yet. We still seek growth in our

music department, youth program, adult programs, and staff. The seeds are being sowed and the

field tilled. The foundation is laid. This is reason to be thankful. It is also a reminder that we must

continue our faithful work. The work continues as we complete our stewardship campaign on

November 9, and gather for our all congregational meeting Nov. 30.

CALL TO ALL--CONGREGATIONAL MEETING—November 23

This will be where we form the blueprint for our upcoming year. We will take a look at all

the gifts we have offered during the stewardship campaign and throughout the year. We will also

look at our dreams and hopes for the church. These will guide us to discuss and decide on how we

focus our energy, ministry, and love over the next year. We will also discuss potential changes to

the constitution and introduce officers. This is our faith in concrete action. Our love is our energy,

and God, Christ and the Holy Spirit are our guides.

Whatever we build, as long as love is our core, it will be a beautiful tribute to the God.

Hi Wright Church family and friends.

Volunteer opportunities just for you

Outside of our social hall is the sign up poster for our 2015 chairman and committee members. Every chairman needs a committee for support. This is where YOU are needed. You DO NOT have to be a member of Wright Church to be on a committee. Please look over the sign up poster and choose a place of interest. Your volunteer efforts with Wright church are greatly appreciated. Please feel free to contact the office or Meredith with any question.

Thanks from Meredith Pond, Ministry of volunteers, 2014

ATTENTION WRIGHT CHURCH MEMBERS:

CONGREGATIONAL MEETING,

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 23 FOLLOWING WORSHIP

IN THE SOCIAL HALL. Preliminary budget and 2015 board presented. Your input into

the life of the church is very important. Please be present.

For all your prayers and cards during my recent bout of

pneumonia. The doctors also tell me that the aneurism

is quite small and nothing to worry about at this time.

Thanks for all the prayers – they do work.

Central Bench Neighborhood Association (CBNA)

The Franklin School Lot

We all know of the empty lot that once housed Franklin School. Recently, as many may

know, Maverick Gas Stations offered the winning bid to the Boise School District. Their plan is to

put a new gas station and convenience store there. The second place bid was from the Salvation

Army. Their proposal offered a more communal based facility. The CBNA voted to challenge the

Maverick. There are plans to work for a project where the space will be used for more communally

interactive facilities. Maverick still has to go through a planning process, which includes the

approval of any plans. The CBNA is planning to use this time to educate the community, and

hopefully rally support for a more community friendly project. Please feel free to contact me for

more information. – Rev. Drew

Idaho Interfaith Roundtable against Hunger (IIRAH)

Pastor Drew and I attended the Idaho Hunger Summit this week. The purpose of the Summit is to strategize things that we as individuals and as groups can do to help eliminate hunger in Idaho. Over 250 folks from across Idaho attended. The day started with the keynote presentation by the Undersecretary of the United States Department of Agricul-ture. She gave us a brief history to the USDA's involvement in feeding programs across the country. Hattie Kaufman, the first American Indian woman national news anchor, also gave a powerful speech about her personal struggle with childhood hunger. The majority of the day was spent in workshop sessions that were of interest to each individual. Pastor Drew attended a group focused on dealing with local food production. I attended the ad-vocacy workshop. You will be hearing more from us in the next few months.
