Why do we bring our students to Camp JOLT?

“Because Camp JOLT provides students with Educational Adventures to Promote Environmental Stewardship, Personal Growth, and Academic Excellence.” – fifth grade teacher

General Information

• Camp JOLT provides ONE Instructor for each 9-10 students • Camp JOLT provides all equipment necessary to conduct real science

investigations

• Sessions are aligned with TEKS.

• Indoor and Outdoor Classrooms with Heat/AC (over 660 acres!)

Health and Safety• American Campers Association Certified• First Aid, CPR, Boater Safety • Extensive background check for every employee• Automated External Defibrillators at all major meeting places• Nurses Cabin• Closest Hospital is 16miles away and Volunteer Fire Dept is 1mile

away• Handicap accessible facilities• All terrain wheelchair available• Call boxes strategically located on our property• All instructors are in constant communication via radios

Our Facilities• Nurse’s Cabin - sleeps two adults separate from 4 students• Fossil and Butterfly Garden• Volleyball, Basketball Courts• Large Activity Field• Modern cabins – heat/air, each with their own restrooms• Dining hall – heat/air, salad bar• Total Camp capacity of 144• Large Indoor meeting space • Beautiful Porch fronting the water for that quiet moment

Facilities

Interested in Chaperoning? • Who can be a chaperone? Legal parent or guardian of student attending camp, Legal grandparent of student attending camp

• Chaperones are responsible for paying tuition for their child and themselves.

• Two chaperones per cabin are required. You will be in your child’s cabin if you are of the same sex.

• Chaperones are required to complete a background check on the FISD website.

• Chaperones will be selected at random, through a lottery and notified by Friday, September , 16th.

Chaperone Responsibilities• Chaperones will reside with the students during the

night, assist them in morning and bedtime preparations, and provide supervision during other non-instructional times.

• Chaperones are required to attended ALL the classes and activities with students.

• Chaperones are not allowed to smoke or have alcoholic beverages on the camp trip.

• Chaperones are not allowed to leave the camp except in a medical emergency.

• Chaperones are not allowed to leave the cabins at night for any reason other than medical emergencies.
