Joshua 24:1-33 | Whom Will You Serve?This second farewell leaves us with the most important choice anyone will ever make in their lifetime. Will you repent and serve Jesus? Or will you continue in idolatry and ignore him. Your decision will affect your life for eternity.

Introduction (v. 1)

God reminds the people of his faithfulness (v. 2-13)

Joshua challenges them to make a choice to serve God (v. 14-15)

The Covenant is Renewed (v. 16-28)

Joshua Dies, Closing Matters (v. 29-33)

Will you ______________________ and serve ___________________________?

Or will you ignore him and serve yourself?

Make no mistake, your choice will affect you (and many others around you) for eternity.

1:10 HOMEWORK1. Read Romans 1:9. What does Paul say about his service to the Lord?

2. Read Romans 12:1–2, 11. What does Paul teach in these verses about serving the Lord?

3. Last week in Joshua 23:11, Joshua tells the leaders of Israel to “be very careful to love the LORD your God.” What’s the connection between loving Jesus and serving him? (For more, read John 14:15-21.)

4. Let’s get practical. How are you serving Jesus? Make a 3-part list. How do you serve him at home? At work? In the church?

5. Look back at your list from question 4. What is your motivation for doing each of those things? Is it to serve Jesus or yourself?

6. Read Colossians 3:18-25. How does Paul say serving Jesus works itself out in our homes? At work? At church?

7. Read Colossians 3:23-24 again. Who is it that you are serving? What does Paul say should motivate you to love and serve him?

8. What steps can you take to improve your service to the Lord? What can you do to encourage others in this area?

9. Now that we’ve finished the book of Joshua, what have you learned? How have you changed? What choices have you made? What choices are you left with?

Daily we’re faced with a very simple choice, “Will I love and serve Jesus first? Or will I ignore him and serve myself and the gods and idols of my choice?” It all begins with repentance. Make a choice to repent of your sin, trust Jesus, and become a Christian! And if you have already made this choice, continue to repent and continue to turn back to your savior. He’s a very good God. Love him with your whole heart, soul, mind, and strength. Choose to turn back to him when you fail. Whom will you serve?
