Karen’s Commentary

Message from our Staff We would like to first like to thank all of our customers for your support in 2009 and wish

you all a very happy year in 2010.

We are busy planning for a bigger and better fundraising program for all of you. With any

business or endeavor, you plan for the “what if’s”, “why not’s, and the WOWS.

We have learned a tremendous amount with the challenges we faced with the trucking

company. Adversity creates diversity and we are putting new and different procedures in

place for 2010. We will be updating our manual to incorporate those changes. Please

read our “Fast Forward” section to learn about our new incentive program.

We will be expanding our wreath sales to incorporate a new “Glory” wreath to benefit your

organization and also provide the opportunity to support a soldier and their family.

Please look for your monthly newsletter for valuable information in planning your 2010

Christmas tree and wreath fundraiser. We would like to meet with you in the spring to

update your manuals and help you plan for your biggest year ever!!

Your business is appreciated and we look forward to talking with you soon. You can

always contact us at [email protected].

God Bless You,

Randy & Denise

Downey High School Dominates Sales

Congratulations to a job well done! Downey High School dominated sales

with over 914 trees, 286 wreaths and many feet of garland. Mark Rand,

Girls Athletic Director at Downey High School, led the sales efforts through

the entire athletic program. His leadership was instrumental in guiding the

program to an unbelievable first year sales effort. He is planning for 2010

with even higher goals. Oh, and by the way, Downey High School is my

Alma Mater “way to go “Vikings”. Randy Wood

New Incentives for 2010 — ”Branching out your business”

We are implementing a new sales strategy for our clients in 2010. For every new contact that is

made through your efforts we will give your organization $1.00 for every tree the new

organization sells in 2010 plus another dollar for every wreath that organization also sells. All

you need to do is have them call our office, announce that they were referred by you and your

organization and we will do the rest. When they commit to the fundraising campaign for 2010

we will immediately send you a confirmation that they are in fact on board. We will then send

you sales totals from that organizations sales along with a nice bonus check in early December.

The more organizations you refer the more money you can make, it’s up to you. In addition,

every year for the new organization that stays on board you will receive a bonus. If you have

any questions regarding our sales incentives program give us a call at 1(760) 250-1718

Selling Tips

Each month we will share a few of

the selling techniques being used by

the most successful organizations.

Our goal is to help your organization

grow.

“This month’s Tip”

Get as many people involved as you

possibly can. This makes everyone's

job much easier and gives you more

voices in your overall efforts to raise

funds. Customers aren’t going to buy

if they don’t know what’s going on.

Getting them informed is half of the

battle.

What Our Customers are saying...

Penny Van Maanen, fundraising coordinator for Cypress

High School had this to say about the quality of their trees.

“One of our biggest concerns in 2009 was to make sure

that every tree was a good one. From the many positive

comments we have heard from our customers, our mission

was accomplished!”

“It is Sunday, December 6th and I am relaxing with a cup of

coffee. My husband Mike is putting the lights on our Wood

Mountain Christmas tree. You were all correct; it is very

full, beautiful and very fresh! The wreath is hanging on our

door and its smells awesome.”

Penny Van Maanen—Cypress High School

The credit should all go to Randy and Denise at Wood

Mountain. Their professionalism and courtesy was

incredible, if I called they were there with answers every

step of the way. This is one of the most organized and most

lucrative fundraisers I have ever been a part of. Our athletic

program came together and in just our first year we were

able to raise over $16,000 total, $3000 of which is going to

scholarships for student athletes. I look forward to working

with Wood mountain again in the future to make this a

yearly tradition.”

Environmental News

Real trees vs. Artificial There is no denying the fact that artificial trees are here to stay. Recent estimates do show however that artifi-cial tree sales this past year declined for the first time in the past 20 years. Being Green is the theme and real trees have a huge advantage over artificial when it comes to which is more environmentally friendly. Real trees provide much needed oxygen for our environment. They are a renewable resource with over 250,000,000 Christmas Trees currently in the ground. Almost all Christmas Trees are grown right here in the United States, providing thousands of jobs. Almost all artificial Christmas Trees are manufactured in China, using low cost labor and inferior materials which in turn add to the environmental issues we are trying to control. Artificial trees are made from plastic and metal which are in part a petroleum based product. Artificial trees last approximately 6 to 8 years adding even more contamination to our environment by being thrown into landfills. Buy & Support “Green”

Karen’s Commentary

Happy New Year to all the special organizations I

had the pleasure working with in 2009!

The best part was getting to meet each and every

one of our customers and seeing the rewards of

your individual efforts. Thank you for all of your e-

mails and calls.

Now is the time to start planning. I will be calling

you next month to set up a mutually convenient

time to meet. See you soon!
