Kia Ora Koutou,

Only a week and one day left until the end of term. My how time flies when you are busy (and have a baby to wrangle!). Our senior students (Years Four - Eight) attended the Taihape Winter tournament last Friday. We all had a wonderful time, and the weather managed to hold out which was fortunate since it was sleeting when I left Waiouru! You can all be very proud of the behaviour of our students, they represented our school beautifully. As recognition of this we won the Sportsmanship and Fair Play

award out of all eleven schools. Well done team! If you happen to have any photographs of the day, can you please pop in and share them with Kerry. Currently we only have photos of the Year four to five rugby and would like to add some of the other codes to our website (sorry baby brain, I should of taken a camera!).

Constable Marks has been in this week and will be back next week for the Kia Kaha programme. The Kia Kaha programme is a positive safety programme in which students develop strategies for respectful relationships where bullying behaviours are not tolerated. The aim of the programme is for children and young people to learn and apply a range of safe practices that they can use to build and maintain successful relationships throughout their lives. If you have any questions about the programme Constable Marks will be here on Monday and Tuesday next week. You can catch up with him after school. We also have pamphlets available at the office.

Finally, click cards finish on Monday at 3pm. Our click card celebration assembly will be on Tuesday next week at 12.30pm. The red card reward is a swim, which will be on Wednesday at 12pm. If you are able to help with supervision down at the pools, please let Mrs Corbett or myself know. Green Card reward is a free lunch (sausages and chips). This will be on Tuesday after the assembly. The blue card reward, dessert will be on Wednesday after the children have eaten lunch.

Girl Guides

Why?

Children who live in rural communities or in smaller towns sometimes don’t get the opportunity to be involved in after-school clubs and activities because of the distance needed to travel or because some activities aren’t provided locally. GirlGuiding NZ recognises that need, and the Aotearoa Region specialises in providing programmes to girls who can’t, for whatever reason, attend regular weekly meetings in a meeting place. We deliver our programmes by a variety of other methods, including mail, email and the internet.

We’d be delighted to have the opportunity to provide girls in your community with the chance to be involved in an organisation which encourages and empowers girls to reach their full potential.

Concerns and Complaints Policy NAG Three - Employment and Personnel

Purpose Complaints and concerns will be dealt with efficiently, professionally and promptly using the school procedures. Guidelines

1. A concern or complaint may be raised by anyone including a student, staff member, parent or visitor. 2. Generally a concern will relate to an informal matter, and where possible will be raised verbally directly

with the person involved. 3. A complaint is more formal and should be raised in writing with a senior staff member or the Principal. 4. If a concern cannot be resolved between the parties, or the matter at issue is of sufficient seriousness

to be dealt with as a complaint, then the matter should be referred to a senior staff member or the Principal for advice.

5. All concerns/complaints will remain confidential to the parties involved. 6. The Principal will report all serious complaints formally to the Board of Trustees, in committee. Serious

complaints may include, but are not limited to, allegations of assault, racial or sexual harassment, undermining Board of Trustees policy, physical abuse or emotional abuse.

a. Unsigned written complaints will not be considered by the Principal or the Board of Trustees. 7. The Board will follow all relevant legislation and employment agreements when dealing with complaints

and will adhere to the requirements of natural justice. 8. The Principal will maintain a secure file for formal complaints.
