The project will include a new hall and nine classrooms to replace the aging Bini and demountables. It will be purpose built for Creative and Performing Arts and will include a theatre and open spaces. The main impact on our school will involve new vehicle and pedestrian access from Janet Street. As the building program progresses there will be a series of internal and external information booths to provide updates on the progress of the development. The next of these booths will be on the 27 th March from 1.00pm to 3.00pm at the entrance to the high school and then again on the 29 th March from 6.00pm to 8.00pm at Jesmond Stockland Mall. If you would like to know more please visit the information booths. I will also keep our school community up-to-date as I become aware of any new information. Unsung Hero Today’s unsung hero is Mr Nathan Wilkinson, our Learning and Support Teacher. Mr Wilko started at Heaton Public School in 2016 and has worked closely with children to develop their literacy and numeracy skills. He also builds relationships with students to help them develop appropriate social skills. He is sharing Tirriki 3 with Ms Field this year and is doing fantastic work in the classroom. Mr Wilko loves sport and has taken responsibility for a number of sporting teams including soccer, softball and touch football. He even organised for the children at our school to be part of a new world record earlier this term when every child (and all the teachers) ate vegetables as part of the Vegi Crunch World Record attempt. Mr Wilko brings a positive attitude to school every day and the children enjoy working with him in the classroom or in The Cave to improve their skills. Well done Mr Wilkinson.
