2011 was our best year thus far by some margin. We take our fair share of the credit for that as we strive to deliver a quality service. We also benefit from the success of Gibraltar generally. Low tax, well regulated small jurisdictions are performing well during these challenging financial times. In Gibraltar there is no legacy of high debt, and the tax regime is an attraction to individuals and companies alike.

As an ex-KPMG chartered accountant in the real estate industry in a low tax jurisdiction, I find myself talking tax as much as talking property. In certain markets, like Gibraltar, the two are inextricably linked. Our ability to assist clients in the tax and property world has enabled us to be at the forefront of the incoming property sector in Gibraltar.

Our relocation business goes from strength to strength. We are engaged by a number of companies to hand hold their staff and new employees through the relocation process from property search and selection, to residency issues, to utility connections. We also help companies establish their presence in Gibraltar, whether finding an appropriate commercial premises, managing an office fit-out or applying for a trade licence. We cover all bases.

Chesterton Property Management, our property management and building surveying business that we launched last year, won a number of new management contracts in the last quarter. Indeed, Chesterton Property Management has now moved into its own dedicated office in the Cornwall’s Centre, just behind Main Street. We are confident that our professional approach to property management, with John Mckillop Smith FRICS FBEng FBIFM at the helm, will result in further business growth.

In our industry in Gibraltar, having two ground floor retail offices is unique and it is a real testament to the success of Chesterton locally. We are grateful for the support of the local community in our growth to date.

Internationally, the Chesterton network spans five continents. We are able to promote a number of attractive real estate opportunities, in Gibraltar, Spain, UK and well beyond. Personal Income TaxIndividuals can opt to be taxed under one of two systems, whichever is most advantageous.
