International Grand Chapitre of the Chaine des Rotisseurs

Bailliage d’Indonesie, 2011.

Chere Confreres,

I would like to invite you to our International Grand Chapitre on the 30th of

September to the 3rd of October 2011 in the city of Yogyakarta. Yogyakarta is

located in Central Java and is a city rich not only in culture and history,

boasting many historical monuments, but is also a student city with many fine

universities. It has a population of 3 million inhabitants and another 1 million

migrant students and has an International Airport with easy access from

Bangkok, Singapore, Jakarta for those traveling from the West and from Perth

and Bali for those traveling from the East.

This Grand Chapitre will be unique in that our host will be HRH the Sultan of

Yogyakarta , Hamengkubuwono X, who is not only the King but also the

Governor of the Special Territory of Yogyakarta and traces his lineage back to

1293. The Sultan will not only host the Dinner at his Palace on Saturday the 1st

of October 2011 but will make available the inner courtyards of his Palace for

our Induction Ceremony and Dinner ( hitherto available only for visiting heads

of states and royalties). This Dinner will be served colonial or " rijst tafel" style

with dishes from the Royal Kitchen served at your table by maidens carrying

different dishes with the 10 favorite dishes of the last 10 sultans among them; all

this in an atmosphere of royal opulence and the background of the Palace

Gamelan orchestra. Here the culture and culinary of Central Java are truly

intertwined.

Arrangement has also been made for the 10th Century Hindu temple of

Prambanan to be opened exclusively for our Welcome Dinner on Friday 30th

September 2011 served grazing style with barbecued lamb and other dishes

roasted on a spit in the true Rotisseurs cooking style, all this together with a "

Son et lumiaire" spectacular show. In addition, the venue for our Farewell

Dinner on Sunday 2nd October is the 8th Century Buddhist Temple of

Borobudur where 4 chefs consisting of Chef Farah Quinn, Indonesia's own

celebrity chef, Chef Iqbal Batubara of the Plataran Resort in Magelang Central

Java, Chef Jack Yoss of the W Resort in Bali, and last but certainly not least,

Chef Egidio Squillace of Julios in Perth, whose Restaurant has won the Gold

Plate Award for Best Fine Dining Experience. Each Chef will prepare their two

special European dishes to tantalise our taste buds. The evening will end with a

rare performance of the Maharkarya traditional ballet, performed by hundreds

of dancers.

In between the Dinner events there are options for visits to a coffee plantation,

the Sultan's cigar factory, silver factories and also fascinating insights into

Javanese life, history and culture.

This Grand Chapitre will be a once-in-lifetime experience for all, as the Events

offered are not available to the ordinary tourist. For our new members who

have not been inducted, this is the rare opportunity to be inducted in the Grand

Palace of Yogyakarta in the presence of their Royal Highnesses, the Sultan and

Sultana of Yogyakarta.

We in the Bailliage d'Indonesie look forward to welcoming you to our

International Grand Chapitre.

Vive la Chaine!
