It All Starts With a Storyboard
Plan A: Gather and Organize Graphics and Photos
Plan B: Shoot and Edit Raw Video Footage
Open Up Movie Maker (Windows) or iMovie (Apple)
Click on “Title” and Type Your Video Title into the “My
Movie” Textbox that Pops Up
Click on “Home” and “Add Videos and Photos” and Add Content to Follow Storyboard
Click “Edit” to Get Video Tools” Tab to Change the
Duration of Individual Slides
Suggested Initial Video Slide Durations
• Default Duration: 7 Seconds
• Title Slide: 7 seconds with words and 4-5 seconds with a picture or graphic image only
• Slides with Words to Read: 5-6 seconds
• Photo/Graphic Image Slides: 2-3 seconds
Click on Credits and Add Final Information for Viewers
Click on “Home” and “Add Music” and Select a Music Source (e.g., Music PC File)
Don’t Use Copyrighted Music (or Graphics or Photos)!
Adjust Video Length to Match Music Length
Play Video in Preview Box and Adjust As Needed
Click on “Save Movie” and “Recommended Setting”
and Save in “Videos” Folder
Click on YouTube Icon and Upload Video to YouTube
Add a Video Description and Music, Photo, and Other
Credits to YouTube Description
Tell the World About Your YouTube Video
Track Your Video Views and Make More Videos
