COMMUNITY EVENTS HOSTED

The Hot Springs Police Department was excited to hold our 3rd Annual “Shop With a Hot Springs Cop” event December 6th, 2021. We partnered with Walmart, our local school districts, and other

community members and blessed 74 children from our community so they could have a happy holiday. We also provided each family

with a food basket for a Christmas dinner! Thank you all who participated in making this great event possible!

EVENTS

This holiday season, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety

Administration (NHTSA) partnered with The Hot Springs

Police Department (HSPD) to share the message about the

dangers of drunk driving.

EVENTS

Assistant Chief Billy Hrvatin, Cpl. Jjesus Anaya and Sean Willits were able to provide Harbor House Christmas gifts and lunch on December 20th. This was our Christmas in Recovery event, that provided gifts to individuals in recovery during

the holiday season.

EVENTS

On December 22nd Assistant Chief Billy Hrvatin, Cpl. Jjesus Anaya, and PRS. Sean Willits were able to provide Christmas gifts and lunch to the clients of SOZO recovery center!

EVENTS

During the months of November and December members of the police department were able to grow beards with a small donation that benefited Shop with a Cop. They submitted photos of their beards for a best beard competition. So

help us congratulate Sgt. Jerry Freeman for having the best looking beard!

IN MEMORIAM

Greg StringerMarch 14, 1957 - December 20, 2021

Greg “G-String” Stringer, 64, passed away 12/20/2021 after a long battle with cancer. He was born March 14, 1957, in Little Rock, AR, to Donald and Betty Stringer. He was saved and baptized at age 7.

Survivors include his wife and the love of his life, Jeannie Stringer; daughter Shanna McQueen (Michael) of Rogers, AR, who has always held his heart in her hands; grandchildren Van Wyatt McQueen and Finley Oliver McQueen whom he adored beyond words; loving parents Donald and Betty Stringer; and sister Melissa Wallace (AJ).

Greg was a long-time resident of Hot Springs and a retired lieutenant from the Hot Springs Police Department. He held several different roles during his time at the HSPD including the role of sniper on the SWAT team for many years. His brothers and sisters in blue were like family to him.

He had a love for classic rock music and played the guitar for many years. Some of his favorite time was spent playing alongside his teacher and mentor Jim Hassell. Greg also had a love for Taekwondo and trained up until his passing with Chief Master Marcus Roby at the Ultimate Warrior Martial Arts Academy. Through all of the trials Greg faced with cancer he continued to train and earned his 2nd degree black belt in Oct 2021.

He was always up for an adventure and Greg and Jeannie had many of them riding their Harley’s across the country. He made many friends as he went but none more special than the South Dakota “family” they saw every year when they went to the Sturgis rally. His last great adventure was a bucket-list trip to Alaska in October to see the Northern Lights.

Greg was truly a special man and everyone that met him instantly loved him. He had so many friends that he still kept in contact with from his school days at Fountain Lake High School, to his fraternity brothers of Phi Kappa Alpha (then Lamda Chi Alpha) to all of the others he met in his daily life. He loved a good joke and was known to give as good as he got, he had perfected the art of slipping in a funny comment or saying when you least expected it. He will be sorely missed by all.
