18 May 2015 Congratulations to our Year 3 and Year 5 children on the manner in which they have attempted all aspects of the NAPLAN assessments this week. The children really have worked hard to achieve their very best. The results of the NAPLAN assessments are not expected back in schools till next term.NAPLAN receives a great deal of media coverage both positive and negative. At TPS we want our children to strive for their own personal best and we want our parents to look at the results in conjunction with other assessments and teachers comments when making a judgment on each child’s success.

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL PANELDue to the retirement of Mr Hollins we currently have a vacant Assistant Principal position being filled in a relieving capacity by Mrs Shaw. The Department of Education and Communities has notified me that the position will need to be filled by merit selection. A panel has been formed and will begin the process in coming weeks.

CROSS COUNTRY ASSEMBLYWe will be holding our Cross Country Assembly Monday, 25 May at 2.15pm in the hall. Everyone is welcome.

STAGE 2Welcome to Week Five! We are halfway through the term already and what a busy term it has been so far.

Thank you so much StageTwo for your fantastic efforts and attitudes last week. The week of NAPLAN is always unsettling for students but they all took it in their stride and truly did ‘Participate with Enthusiasm’.

By now students should have chosen their topics for their public speaking and have begun working on their speech. If your child is experiencing difficulty completing this task, please let us know as early as possible so we can help them.

We have been learning how to use lots of different apps in our technology lessons this term. Our students have proven to be very capable ipad users and have enjoyed making their own ‘Tellegami’. Please let us know if you come across any apps that you think would be beneficial to our students, we are always on the lookout for new exciting apps.

Thank you to those that have paid for our excursion already. If you need an additional copy of the note, they are available at the office.

Please ensure that your child has enough lead pencils, a ruler, glue sticks, sharpeners and erasers. It is important that students have the right equipment each day so they are organised for each lesson.

TUGGERAWONG PUBLIC SCHOOL OOSH NEWS!Hello from OOSH, what an awesome week we have had at OOSH. We have now started to pick up children from other schools which is so awesome, this means our OOSH bus will be leaving our school around 2:50pm, we ask if we can keep the driveway near the hall clear as our

bus will be exiting from that driveway and will be returning around 3:15pm. We are so excited about this new achievement. We hope to see some more new faces from other schools in the coming months.Ash and Rhiannon have been working really hard on the winter holiday vacation care itinerary, we have created such a fun an exciting holiday program for the children booking sheets and the itinerary will be out in the following weeks so please keep a look out and return the booking sheets in asap as spots fill quickly. It is now coming to the cooler months; we have now changed our OOSH routine. We now go outside around 3:30pm till 4:30pm. We ask if all children can please bring a jumper, as in the afternoon it can be very cool.We would love to thank all the parents who have taken the time to help with our parent information table. It looks awesome, so many information pamphlets for the parents to take. We love this parent input. If any parents have any community based pamphlets that they think could benefit the families that attend OOSH.

FIRE & RESCUE NSW OPEN DAY 2015Fire & Rescue NSW is hosting its annual Fire Station Open Day on Saturday, 30 May 2015 between 10am and 2pm. Children and their parents are invited to watch fire safety demonstrations, hop aboard our station’s fire truck, hold a fire hose and chat with firefighters about what they do.This is a fantastic opportunity for children and their parents to meet their local firefighters and with winter just around the corner, which is the worst time of the year for house fires, this is a great opportunity to learn as much as you can about home fire safety. Visit www.fire.nsw.gov.au to find your nearest 2015 Open Day participating station and join us on Saturday, 30 May 2015
